Driving to my husband's village - Family roadtrip from Jaipur to Haryana. Indo-Finnish couple
Вставка
- Опубліковано 12 вер 2024
- We drove from Jaipur, through Sikar, Chirawa, Jhunjhunu, Pilani and finally reached Vinod's ancestral village near the Haryana border. On the way we stopped at a temple and had a small picnic. We also got some sweets from a famous sweet shop - Lalchand Pedawala. I got to see camels and many other animals on the highway! We spent almost 6 hours on the road and there was endless banter and fun all the way. It was one of the most memorable roadtrips I've had with my Indian family, filled with lots of exciting conversations and learning about the Haryanvi Jat culture.
A little background info - I'm from Finland, married to an Indian man. We live in Kerala. We visited my in laws in Jaipur and celebrated Diwali with them. Since I had never met Vinod's grandparents, we all decided to do a roadtrip to his nani's (maternal grandmother's) village near the Haryana border.

When People from North India goes to South India they find it difficult to cope with their culture; tradition and language. But you as a foreigner has adopted the life style of Indians. It's amazing.
Thank you, Kavita :) Of course at home I also do my best to also preserve best qualities of my culture in our daily lives. But especially when I'm out and about, visiting other people, I don't find it difficult at all to be immersed in their culture (unless I'd maybe witness something absolutely wrong, like treating women badly etc.), but rather I find it really nice to learn about other cultures and always have :) I don't think my own culture/tradition is the only right one to live by
OMG..it was so nostalgic, having being born in Pilani and living in BITS Pilai campus until completing Grade 12, before moving to Delhi and now in Toronto, Canada..everything felt if it was only yesterday....Rajgarh, Chirawa, Jhunjhunu, Sikar passed through these places sooo many times...I had goosebumps when you were passing through Pilani, my birthplace...was in Pilani in the year 2018....Thank you so very much..I wouldnt be surprised if Vinod's family knows some one in Piani/Rajgarh whom I might know as well....God bless you and your family !!
Well Mommy’s village is actually on the Rajasthan side of border (even though culturally they’re pretty much considered haryanvis) inbetween Pilani and Rajgarh 😊 and of course in that area everyone knows everyone through some connections 😁👌 I’m really glad you got to ”visit home” through my video 🙏
very lovely to see u respecting our culture$ heritage....
Well of course it’s a priority for me to learn the culture of my family and the place i live in 😊🙏
@@JohannaNorth i m very pleased to hear u speaking hindi....your efforts 👌👌.........
@@udaynarayan5900 I didn't hear her speak any Hindi.. did you watch the same video as I?

Family values are very strong in India. That is the best part unmatched and found nowhere else in the world to this level.
Disagree. I know of a few families that have not seen each other in a while pre covid as well. So its not just in the west that have broken families
This is what we assume about foreigners. It comes only because of the divorces you hear about them. In real I don’t think so. They also value their family and respect each other. After all , Finland is the place where whole world is looking up-to... Their incredible hospitality. You have no idea how well they carry the human values with them. Highly civilized society !!! This is what I know.
You Father in law is very cool person....😎
the road is unexpectedly in much better condition than previously anticipated...
Good to see that for a change...
I think the last part of the highway had been quite recently constructed because my husband had never seen the road this way 😁👌
Your Dad is very supportive of your Vlog ! Keep Rocking .
A very big thanks to Johanna for taking pride in showcasing the Haryanvi culture to the world.
Real happiness
Teach us how to became really happy
Happiness is quite an individual thing, but what I could say in general is to follow your heart and appreciate the little things and the current moment! ❤️ I think we’re all a little brainwashed into thinking happiness is those grand things we see in movies, but that’s not it at all. It’s more about normal, good everyday life 😊
Johanna...well said !!
I admire u Johanna ...wud luv to meet u...u changed my perspective of life..:-*
The family road trip to nani's village looked like a lot of fun. Loved the little picnic that you all had. The temple garden was beautiful and the home-cooked meal looked yumm. Btw, mummy did a good job stitching the kurti and mask.
I was so pleasantly surprised by the temple grounds! Almost didn’t matter the temple was closed when it was such a beautiful sight outdoors too 😍 and of course eating mommy’s food always makes me so happy i dont mind the rest of the world 😅👌
Joanna you are auspicious yourself , and Vinod and his family is no less.. ..Love you and Vinod and his Family.. and his Mama and the Ghee... I am ecstatic just to watch all of you ...and Annamika the Angel....What else you need.....you are living in fantasy land and so does Vinod and his Mom and family... Om Na Ma Shivaya..May Siva Bless you all... Keep Going...
Wow so beautiful temple
Take care of my brother😘😘😘
Hi Johanna, I enjoyed your road trip and your picnic in a beautiful garden and as humble as you are, you even feed the hungry dog. You've finally reached your destination and I can not wait to see more. Stay safe.
Oh the dog was just the sweetest! Maybe it was mommy instincts kicking in but I wish we had also some actual treats to feed her 🥰

Jat people are tougher as they kept on fighting the invaders who came from the western direction of India since thousands of years.they have huge contribution in our army.they are tough and Frank people.speak whatever they have in their mind.they are proud of their history.thats all I know about jats. 🙏🙏
Also their land is in their blood and they’re very connected to it, because they’re not only fighters but farmers too 😊🙏

@@JohannaNorth also, have you reached Kerala already?
@@thinkgreat6235 still 10min drive left home 😂😂👌
@@JohannaNorth Oh, Welcome home! 😄🤣
Sitting and eating in the temple gives so much peacefulness and serving food to animals gives so much compassion. JAT people mostly used to join Indian army. JAT regiment is full of Haryanvi young boys. They are tall, physically strong and very patriotic towards our country. They're the real men.

Such an interesting looking village, the one where you arrived at the end!
Looooong journey that! But looks like you enjoyed it 😁. I liked that temple stop where you fed the dogs👍💕. Would be good if development was visible in Indian villages 76 years after independence!

Wow..i enjoyed every moment of this volg, I am so excited to see the second part .. can’t thank u enough for this amazing vlogs 💯❤️
I promise the parts where we actually ARE there in the villages are even soooo much better 😍😍😍
I am too waiting
Nice trip. I remember the sweets. Barfi a favorite. I make it because the purchased type seems to have a lot more sugar. The stores here sell almond paste. Very popular at Christmas. What did you think of buffalo milk? Very creamy! I think that is why India has the best ice cream. And Kulfi a favorite. Some restaurants serve it here. The temple was amazing.
I love kulfi too :) But I don't drink any milk, especially if it's not boiled first. I have milk in my oats/muesli/coffee and as curd. So I don't know about the taste of that milk so much. I thought it was the same as we have at home too :)
We don't have sweets too often and would mostly make them at home, like you. :) But I think it's sometimes, especially when travelling, nice to visit sweets shops for a little tasting and people in India like a lot of sweetness! :D
@@JohannaNorth Have you seen the British series on youtube, All Crestures Great And Small? A favorite. I watched on Netflix,
'Crash Landing On You.' It was very good. I think the internet has been a blessing during the pandemic. We are also careful here and wear masks and keep hand sanitizer with us like you do. So far we are all well. I had a favorite book, Your Baby & Child
From Bith to Age Five, by Penelope Leach. Revised for the 90's 😄 . Tons of Illustrations. Nice for fathers too. Seems every detail a mom wants to know is in there.
@@alysonmel3681 haven’t seen it yet, but have heard many recommendations! Didn’t realise it was on UA-cam 😁 must give it a look once I have to start working less! Also planning to reactivate my Netflix soon and I have Crash landing on you on my watchlist ☺️ last trimester is starting next week so I think I’ll be on the couch much more in the coming weeks, belly is getting heavy now! 😁 must check your book recommendation too, I think I’ve heard about this somewhere! First I must finish my current read about raising your child into a more positive mindset 🙏

God give you and your family both in india and finland health wealth and fullfill your remaining wishes. Do visit amritsar for seeing the golden temple. It has the worlds largest kitchen which can feed about 100000 devotees per day. You may do that once carona is over. You may also spend summers in finland to visit your family from may to september after the carona epedemic.
You look very cute.I pray for your future success.
With warm regards
