- After saying goodbye to her grandparents from Jaipur, Annika was all ready to welcome another grandparent coming all the way from Finland. My mother, or 'mummi' to Annika, arrived to Mangalore airport one morning in early October. Mummi didn't know what that Annika and I were also coming along with Vinod to the airport to receive her. So it was a pleasant surprise for her when she saw her granddaughter at the airport! It was an emotional reunion after more than a year. We took the train back to Payyanur and finally reached home only late in the evening. Annika was super excited to see all the gifts mummi had brought from Finland. So happy to see you all…..was missing you and Annika 🤗🤗. Annika is speaking so beautifully in English, Finnish and Hindi. At this age children are likes sponges, absorbing everything around them. It’s fantastic that you and Vinod travel with her and help her discover so much. And so much of joy on her face when she saw her “mummi”. God bless!! Grandparents-grandchild bond is so special!!

Hi yes I feel the same. Re it's great how Vinod and Johanna take Annika traveling and I also love Annika's bonds with other family members. This is coming from my perspective of living as a foreigner in india in an Indian family homestay. I feel that the depth of Indian culture and the places in India are so endearing and totally magnificent. Also it's a wonderful opportunity for Annika to be exposed to both Finnish culture and Indian culture. That little girl is experience a cultural melting pot due to the exposures. And she's is such a thriving and happy little girl ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Found this channel by accident but during these times when international relations all over the world seem to be getting worse it really warms my heart and brings me hope to see two people from very far apart countries build a family together

Such a darling video. 23 years ago when I was an international student in Massachusetts's, we had 2 Finnish students at Uni and we became good friends at orientation. The group was 1 Indian, 2 Finns, 1 Guatemalan and at times 1 Turk. We would spend some evening at Juans place playing nintendo and some nights at my place for dinner and movies from blockbuster. I cooked them Indian food three times a week and they enjoyed it. Good memories, hearing you talk in Finnish and English brough back memories.
Yes, for children grandparents are the best gift. She cried so much for her grandparents. This is the real love for grandparents. She is so excited for her grandmother and how she showed her love for her,in the train and while opening the gifts she received. Loved to see you all enjoying ❤

My husband is from Ramanthali in Payyanur, and seeing your videos from Ramanthali and the one where Annika took her first steps on the beach brought back so many memories. Now, watching her as a curious toddler is heartwarming and brought a big smile to my face. It's amazing how your videos connect us to the beauty of life and the shared experiences we have, even miles apart.

Good to see another video. Johanna you have an absolute gift in making these vlogs. They are very peaceful and the bursts of energy from Annika are like little pops of color. You should consider making films. You vlogs remind me of the book “A child’s Christmas in Wales”. The warmth, the detail and scenery all capture the letter and spirit of the story.
Back in the day when i used to go back to Finland every year, i also always carried a backpack mostly full of masala, dal, mustard oil, coffee… granted it was all pretty much for me, but still 😅
I do wish at some point, when Annika goes to school and maybe I’ll have more time for getting a degree and work too, to start making films or documentaries rather than vlogs 😊

There are cabs to the airport which make the ride comfortable.
Sometimes we take a cab, sometimes an auto is a nice adventure 😊 Machalee is my absolute favourite Mangalore restaurant!

I teared up the moment sleepy Annika met her grandma. Ive got two half brown, curly haired toddlers and they miss thier nan and grandad in the UK. We live here in Kottayam, kerela, hopefully not to far away from you. We'd love to visit sometime or of you're ever in this part of the state, do let us know 😊
How lucky is Annika and of course what a delight she is to her grand parents. Surprise to see empty train in India! All those gifts and she got to open all same time..!! Mangalore was the last station on the route so thats probably why our compartment was empty. It was shocking for me too 😅
I also video call endlessly with my mom before her visits and tell her specifically what she’s allowed to buy and what not. Needless to say there’s still always a few surprises 😅😅

Just came across you video. Your little girl reminds me of my daughter at that age with the curly hair and cute accessories and dresses. She’s 15 now though. We live in Sri Lanka and it seems to be so similar to Kerala. My parents also live abroad in England so when they come it’s just like this with all the presents and food. Loved watching you video!
