He most have went to the Bard's college in Solitude.
you gotta consider that going to the bards college doesn't actually teach
you lol
He must have gone ...... Gone.
@Christian Himmelstrand Vampyahuntahsosahmting
I need to string my lute!. -see ya next week
this thing must be a nightmare to restring
it takes 24+ hours just to tune the thing.
+Batman The Superman Killer damn court lutes
harps...
How about restring a piano?
I'm just glad he tuned it before the video started. XD
I was born a metalhead. And I can’t get enough of this stuff. It’s easy to see the connection between the two when you really start listening to some metal bands. Love it.
I'll never understand how a video such as this gets any dislikes. Like did someone click on a "lute music" video, and expect something that is not lute playing? Was it their first lute playing video, and they just hated the sound of the instrument? I dunno man.
hi my friend, it's naive to imagine ANY YT posting will have 0 dislikes. Maybe this performance is technically not up to some players' standards? Anyway, I just googled up a couple Segovia YT vids to see if there were dislikes for his performances-- yes, EVEN a Master such as Andre Segovia had his share of dislikes.
Maybe it's the heavy breathing into the microphone lol
they could also be 'lute snobs' and find some tiny little point that makes them click 'thumbs down' and leave in a snit
hmmm ... I just had this vision of Darth Vader playing the lute - sadly would probably have tens of millions of views :-D
Adam Repovs you are so right!
A famous luthier who plays beautifully. Thank you for posting this.
can't stop listening to this
amazing, simply brilliant. love baroque music
Those deep bass notes hnnng
Indeed.
This is Beautiful I am a harpist but I have always love the lute, I love to play lute music on the harp.
Fantastic! What a beautiful sounding instrument.
I simply adore that first song he did omg ;u;
I just woke up from a dream where a male rocker with long blonde hair gave me a 200 year old Lute from Norway. I hooked it up to an accoustic amplifier, took my left hand to the strings and strummed the most beautiful strings that I ever heard. Then I jammed to it and sang some magical songs then played some Megadeath. After that I went out to play at some concerts and got reconnected with some family.
Frederick Shananaquet dude that seems like my dreams too lol we ve got wierd dreams man
*MEGADETH
*make the dream come true*
Frederick Shananaquet sounds like a fun trip lol
This man built this lute and plays it. I look at a spreadsheet all day..
what a remarkable instrument holy shit
11 courses, standard Baroque lute tuning - d minor: from course 6 to 1 it's A, D, F, A, D, F and diatonic basses from course 7 to 11: G, F, E, D, C. These bass strings are retuned according the key, for example to play a piece in the key of G the F bass note is raised to F#
Thanks for this beautiful piece of music. from Weiss I presume. I don't have the score under eyes, but I'm a bit doubtful about the fact that F# bass is to play G chord... this would mean a major 7th inversion... well in Jazz eventually! Isn't it more likely an inversion 3rd of a D major ? I must add that, when the whole piece is written in D major, we tune the F to F#, but when it is accidentally (D or G minor piece with a D major at a moment) we actually play the 7th string with left hand, same for the 8th string E (E moll -> E natural), and for this reason the lutenists position the 8 first strings upon the table (and their pegs accessible on the first the peg box), and the other diatonic strings are in the void.
Absolutely beautiful music and playing.
beautifully played
im always sending this clip to my mates, Ken is the man.
That's my cousin Kenny!! 🤗
I don't know why i can't stop listening to this primordial ooze turned music, but i can't...help.
2024 still listening to this masterpiece.
So beautiful
I love oldies!!
While you studied the blade, I studied the lute
eeek-can you imagine tuning this thing- great sound and pitch range thanks for posting.
That Sir, is grand. Bravo!
Such warmth and tone.
Always reminds me of Kvothe playing in front of Vashet - Kingkiller Chronicles, Book 2 - A Wise Man's Fear.
This series is exactly the reason I'm here! Haha been a musician almost my whole life and was unfamiliar with the lute so i wanted a refrence
bravo ! fantastic, thanks for sharing this. Amazing work.
Fantastic!!!!!!!!!
What an amazing instrument and beautiful music!
Hang on for a minute. He made that lute, and is now playing on it? that's amazing. sounds like a cool guy
This is my cousin Kenny. He's a wonderful person :)
He is!
Absolutely beautiful, what a beautifully sounding instrument and a lovely player!, I would love to have been at that recital!. Many thanks. Gérard lacey in Ireland. X
Beautiful!!
All the stupid rude comments. Ken is an old friend from CSUN. Not only is he a good lutenist but also a luthier. he probably built the lute he's playing here.
Hermoso.
If these were the the only musics I could take to a desert island, yes, I could survive!
Wonderful!!!
nice playing, really enjoyed it
Very nice! Thanks for sharing.
Angelic and mysterious... thank you
Beautiful💜💜💜
Omg. It's so beautiful!
The oud is a beautiful musical instrument, too, and is related to the lute. I like to listen to both
Speachless...that is remarkable.
I just felt in love for that instrument:)
Ken Brodkey bravo good luck.благодарю вас за прекрасное исполнение произведения здоровья вам и вашему семейству
That is very sweet of you. This is my cousin Kenny and I'm very proud of him :)
Браво.....
Bless my ears
EXCELENTE
@JaJDoo - I don't think so. I have a book called "The Baroque Lute Companion" by Stefan Lundgren that has many pieces from the Gottweig manuscript as well as several others.
I find it extraordinary what type of sounds we a pulled towards. I love the sound of the Lute, Harp and Cello..but also love the Flute..I do wonder about muscle memory/memory of your ancestors stuck in you DNA or something..Beautiful, thank-you..x
Nah, unfortunelly you need to learn from scratch
Yeah, but I wouldn't want to have to tune that sucker.
NICE!
I love this
Sounds to me like Weiss but I certainly could be wrong ! Thanks LauxMaler!
Удивительный инструмент дух захватывает
Nice
Bravo !
Прекрасная музыка и прекрасный исполнитель !
Eu já sofro com um instrumento com seis cordas...:)... Sensacional!
Every bit as good as Christopher Parkening on the classical guitar.
Великий мастер!
He looks like a high elf from skyrim
C'est un extrait d'une sonate de Sylvius-Léopold Weiss !
Mds q lindo😍🥰
Nice playing and what a wonderful composition. The baroque lute looks horribly difficult to play. I used to play renaissance lute. Easy enough with only eight courses to deal with.
Are you...
A wizard?
No, clearly he's a bard.
Excellent performance on a fine instrument. What is the name and composer of this selection? Thank you for sharing>
Is it in open D minor tuning? How many courses? I'm looking into Baroque lutes.
Beautiful played.
Who is the composer and what part is it?
I don’t think anyone knows who the composer is
@@bridgetking4553 lmao
That thing must be a pain to keep in tune.
is the manuscript available for download anywhere?
He kind of looks like Henry Winkler.
Where can I get the score for this piece?
that is one thicc lute.
I love your 20-course lute. Very nice playing.
John Wascavage 10 course actually.
11 course: 9 paired and two single courses. Baroque tuning and stringing
De quelle oeuvre du manuscrit s'agit-il ? Merci
Book 1 folio 15 and Book 1 folio 17

All hail to Ulfric you are the high king
In your great honor we drink and we sing
Anyone know the name of this peice I'm sure its silvius leopold weiss not sure which piece though.
Do we know the right period of this manuscript and the pieces authorship ?
Aesthetically it seems nearer the baroque counterpoint style of Weiss, Falckenhagen, Joachim Fischer or Bach in the early 18th century than the "style brisé" of Esaias Reussner in the late 17th century.
good performance but damn that mic picks up so much breathing.
UN MOSTRO ....
God, this is so fucking hot.
-Adem mercenary
Ah, an 11 course Lute.
lutes are scary as OMG how can he play that
Must be a pain to re string and tune up!
How many strings are there?
Poison Joe 10 pairs of 2, 20 total.
Just two anonymous pieces
galileo played the lute his whole life
прикольно
Как эта композиция называется?
Name of the song?
I've always wanted something like that in my hand but alas, they're too expensive.
Gurney Halleck at his finest!
wow and he likely built this instrument
must be a pain to restring that monstrosity. Very nice music though.
Как можно играть на таком количестве струн? Тут на 6 - струнной гитаре пальцы вечно путаются...
well that's a lot of strings.
Bruce Dern?? is that you?? lol
