BAROQUE MUSIC FOR GUITAR AND TEORBO
Lute Duo (Варшава)
I like how these pieces were all dance pieces, and now all people do is sit down and listen to it.
Thank you to the person who recorded and posted this, who I expect, was in the audience of one of no more than 20, judging by the feeble applause. 1.6 million views and 10 years later. Pretty much exponential growth. Beautiful music.
I'm amazed at how "contemporary" these songs sound. Simply beautiful.
For all those who want to know the names of the these talented artists are: Anna Kowalska baroque Guitar and Anton Birula theorbo."Lute Duo" is the name of their group.
Love so much the way Anna plays...especially her version of Marionas! Brava!
Superb musicians and beautiful music! Dziekuje bardzo!
She is incredible... wow... what a skill
Santiago de Murcia (1674-1740) código Zaldivar:

4:10 "Folias Gallegas"
Gaspar Sanz:

13:11 Tarantellas
15:50 Canarios
This should be the top comment, thank you for your contribution!
Is that Weiss what I think I heard?
Thank you.
I «discovered» the lute 55 years ago thru the recordings of Julian Bream. I am still enchanted by this instrument.
What music are they playing, era, composers?
There is nothing like hearing accomplished musicians on acoustic instruments, baroque or otherwise! Wonderful.
Ms. Kowalska's playing from 2:49 till 3:03 is absolutely amazing. I've never heard a more satisfying, awesome baroque-era vihuela playing.
Props to her and Mr. Birula as well!
Big ups from Northern California. Bravo!!
she is great, I agree, there is also a man, called marco meloni, he is also great on baroque guitar, for me the very best in the world eventhough he is not famous at all.
check on youtube his chaconne, folias, jacaras, canarios ...
(from a live concert in japan)
best wishes
Female "Buckethead".
Why on earth anyone would not this wonderful playing by Anna and Anton is beyond me. They do a beautiful job....bravo Anna and Anton!
I searched for music for the theorbo and found this. enjoying.
Long time no hear Baroque music played so masterfully as does this duet. Beautiful.
How utterly enchanting....
Extraordinary and beautiful! Bravo! What a treat. Thank you.
Music of eternal life I'd say.
This is what youtube is for. I stumbled upon these two great musicians while watching a luthier video. Truly great playing, just ordered the cd from their site.
This really hits the spot. Thanks, guys, for posting this.
Absolutely fascinating! I love the combination of batoque guitar and theorbo! Too bad that there is so much background noise. Those two deserve a better soundquality!
Playoff for acoustics and situation. Oh well, but I think mics could have been placed to deal with this

Muy. Hermoso. Bvivaidi
i totally disagree, this is the room acoustic, it breathes and is grand not some studio clinical sound.
I am filled with awe and admiration for these finest of human beings
This is quite possibly the best thing ever.
magnifici interpreti, magnifica musica !!!
So utterly inspiring. Hundreds of years ago this music was being played and enchanting audiences. Today it still does the same.
¡PERFECTO!... ¡MARAVILLOSO!...
siete bravissimi!!! evviva!
Beautiful! Such dedicated craftsmanship. Your love for your craft is obvious. Thank you for your dedication. You bring joy to us all! Bravo!

I'd die to be able to play like this ... it is just fantastic -- those base notes from the theorbo are just wonderful .... and the guitar is so beautifully played .. !
I love this combination of instruments & the time period!
Absolutely delightful to listen to! The playing is really beautiful and so are the music choices :). Thanks for posting, Slayerbulia.
Could anything sound more perfectly romantic than Eric & Sylvia singing madrigals in medieval French? They were invited to a castle in the Loire valley, the wallpaper behind them was faithfully restored like the original couple's initial motif wallpaper.Their voices blend so sweetly,I return to this clip almost every chance I get. They are such cute lovebirds as well!

I'am a lute lover, not a guitar one, but THIS guitar and THIS player is SO beautifull !
Beautiful performance and such expressive instruments.
If there is heaven...this is how it sounds !!!
This is fabulous music, with depth and substance, unlike what is popular these days.
Never heard that one before. LOL!
Her words are far older than her wisdom/experience deficit allows her to realize, going back literally a thousand+ years of musical history in which the same phrase was used, translated topically to things like: "new music sucks", as many often say. Same old story, different era. The greatest and most influential composers throughout music history were met with the same comments (by some). And even more recently, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, and every other innovator was spoken of in this same way: "No depth and substance" being terms sometimes used. Today, some of them are revered. Musical giants. Legends.
It doesn't take a genius to see that some (not all, thankfully) of today's music will be legendary too, many decades from now. Wonder which ones though? Certainly not the cheesy stuff. But then, doesn't every decade have a large amount of dreadful and disposable pop music?
Which will be remembered, and which will fade away?
Let's hope our descendants are smart in their choices of whom to respect from this era...avoiding abominations like Lady Gag-Gag, Justin Beiber, or Taylor Swift.
Thank you for posting this beautiful music and performance. The lute on the left looks like a gukelin. aka a merger of a guitar ukulele and mandolin.
Simply wonderful. Concerning music I have been born too late.
Muito bonito. Parabéns.
Very beautifull. Congratulations.
Ahhhhhhhhh, real music !
Quelle musique et quels musiciens. Ils maitrisent leur instrument à merveille. Bravo.
OMG fabulous
Beautiful music
What is the crime of the century? Easy. The crime of the century is that Lute Duo has over 1.5 million views, but only 5K subscribers. Are people today emotionally deaf? I don't care about the background noise.... This video is pure gold.
The best music never dies...
Genio español: sublime y universal.
Lindo, lindo!
Brilliant! I’m visualizing some 15th century pirate feast.
you fill my heart with delight beyond words to express
Bravo!! fantastic music :) I love both istruments
That second piece! Damn, wish I could have been there.
My favorite song is canarios, great performance
. . . . sehr schön, gefällt mir.
Grüße
What a superb guitar player. Totally awestruck!
Fantastic!
Listening to this music is a perfect way to start the day...Saturday Morning, 26 March 2016 :)

Excelent and Briliant ! bravo.
Beautiful, thank you !
Bravi bravi bravi!
Glorious sounds , beautiful , thank you,
These guys are the best duet
Thank you. This recording made my day.
I love your music!
These are instrumental stylizations of dance rhythms of the 16th &17th Cs. This duo adds modernisms to the fray. Very good playing. The bass instrument appears to be a chittarone which is a bass lute with metal bass strings (note their length). The chittarone was developed in the late 16th C. for accompanying the voice and was used later in ensembles, a very Italianate feature. There is a separate literature for the bass lute instruments of which there are several.
Great video ! Love Renaissance !
Love it...so lively

no me canso de escucharlos. bravo.
BEAUTIFUL .. !!!
