Can't say how much I liked the way you tested these phones.
What I found out in my daily use case is that I need battery the most when... I'm on cellular, usually with the highest screen brightness.
I couldn't care less about WiFi only tests without SIM cards. When I'm on WiFi, I'm going to have a charger nearby.
The only thing I'd fix is if you added to this mix, let's say 8 hours of idle with AoD on.
I'm constantly getting no more than 3 to 4 hours of SoT on S23 Ultra or 14 Pro Max. I'm able to discharge them at 3PM, whilst not doing that much. Some music streaming, Telegram messages, maybe a few minutes of video recording, a few hours of idle, and well, my battery is discharged...
I was very disappointed when my Galaxy S10+ back in the day barely got me through the half of my day. "But the tests said it can last 8 hours of screen on time, I'm using my phone up to 5 hours a day, so it should be fine."
But I didn't realize that app load out, cellular data, and highest possible brightness cause such a high battery drain.
Thank you for making a really good, real-life battery test on these devices. This way you won't make people disappointed by their phone choice, because you didn't create too high of an expectations.
This comment was so good I had to pin it.
@LoverOfTech thank you for pinning my comment! I didn't expect that. This made my day. I really appreciate that!
I hope you'll take a deeper dive into comparing WiFi to 4G. Especially when it comes to low signal strength of cellular and while the phone is moving - say in a car or on a train.
These are an order of magnitude more probable scenarios than what basically any other tech UA-camr shows. And more to say, scenarios, when you actually need this battery.
Nobody's going to watch UA-cam for 10 hours straight or use the phone in a room - where the brightness of the screen is lower compared to what it is outside, or they're going to do repeated GeekBench.
But people are going to travel by train and scroll TikTok for 30 minutes or use cellular for streaming music. This really takes a hit to battery, and this is the scenario when my 14 Pro Max died on me at 3 PM. Luckily, I brought a powerbank with myself.
People store everything on their phones. Communication by it is a really important part of our lifestyle. Many people - including me - store banking cards, personal ID, driving license, and it can't die on us in a moment where we don't want it to. It comes to reviewers not to set too high expectations because people are going to be unhappy. And they are unhappy, especially those who are not believed by other people. It's better to be pleasantly surprised rather than to be negatively surprised.
By watching a few of your videos, I can see that you have a very reasonable point of view when it comes to how people use their smartphones. And I home you go this way in your future videos.
Your work is amazing. Hope you make the review space a better, more honest, and trustworthy place.
Brother what is the overnight idle drain of s24@@LoverOfTech

Finally a battery comparison of non-pros, thanks @Lover of Tech

@@LoverOfTech EXACTLYYYYYYYYY
this is what an actual battery test on mobile data which mostly UA-camrs don't do , the often compare it on wifi , with no sim card, and aeroplane mode on which doesn't provides an actual battery consumption on real life basis .
🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
Yeah I'm actually surprised, a battery test that actually accurately depicts these phones in your day to day life. I always thought there was something wrong with my phone's getting like half the battery that UA-camrs get, but none of them used mobile data...
Good shit!
@@LoverOfTech Bro and the Standy by time? Is the biggest contra not tested. Nobody use 6 hour a Smartphone in one piece. Exynos Standby is terrible
I didn't expected Exynos 2400 S24 will do this great in battery, imagine what Pixel 9 series can do if their tensor chip is based on Exynos 2400.
Exynos modem is trash along with thermals. It's the exact reason switched to the S24 ultra for the snapdragon
Imagine what Pixel 10 series can do with their tensor chip based on TSMC's architecture
@@M16-bf4ku thats my plan keep my s24 till I can see what the tensor g5 does performance wise
@@M16-bf4ku TSMC doesn't design any chips. They're pure "fab" only manufacturing chips designed by their customers.
@@ShakeNbake9106bruh after have see so much reviewers of exynos version i will safetly say than thermals is masterised and exynos is only bad in 5G
So other UA-camrs have been deceiving us and telling us how great the iPhone 15 battery is,lover of tech exposed them by using mobile data battery drain test, the pixel 8 tooo didn’t disappoint either ,no wonder people will always say go for the normal 8 rather than the pro,as for the Samsung ,great job❤❤❤❤
Pixel 8 did well but a very good win for Samsung S24. Thanks for watching 👏🏿
It is to do with two of the worst optimised apps on iOS, UA-cam and Instagram. Interestingly both owned by the two biggest enemies of Apple, Meta and Google. I deleted my iOS Instagram app as it was a battery killer, and I only use YT on Safari where it uses about 66% energy versus the app. I wont say Meta and Google badly optimise on purpose, maybe they are just incompetent at developing iOS apps.
@@LoverOfTech a quick question, while I'm thinking about it. Are all three phones on the same mobile network?
Or at least the same five bars of signal strength?
5G is generally where Exynos (Tensor) really struggles with its subpar modem. If I could force it, I would set my pixel to 4G to get a better signal and more battery life. I don't use that much bandwidth to require 5G.
@TexasCat99 all on the same network and data plan
UA-camrs have been discussing the battery of the 15 Pro Max not the base 15. There’s a huge difference.
LOVE your videos, man. You are doing at last the tests and benchmarks that EVERYONE is interested in. 99% of the population doesnt even game with their phone, they just use their smartphones for social networks, google maps, camera and some browsing... I dont understand why rest of youtubers are still comparing phones with synthetic benchmarks and games...
I appreciate the support 🙏🏿
99% don't even game 😅 that make sense 😅 I think 🤔 you should browse 40% users game daily and you are saying 99% don't 😅😅
@@owentop even if thats the case, they are not playing Grand Theft Auto, they are playing Monopoly and similar...
40%? what are we talking about here, kids? you're probably not a day older than 14 lmfao@@owentop
I don't have a single game on my pixel, or any pixel phone I've bought. So not being the fastest phone is not important to me, I won't notice. But having top-end cameras in a small phone is!
The pixel 8 is so much better than the pixel 7 in terms of size and feel. I would rate the P8 as 3x better. I have no complaints how it feels, I don't think about it. But the pixel 7 was bothersome compared to my pixel 4.
If I'm getting a new phone for my kid, it would be a gaming phone that Linus reviewed a few weeks ago that has a cooling fan, RGB lighting, trigger buttons and a snapdragon for about $650. Called the Red Magic 9 Pro. It's too big and overpowered for my needs. But for gamers, it's one of the best on the market today.
Love the sports commentator style voice over. this was more exciting than the nfl
Yo, this is high praise for real 🙌🏿 thank you
You're insane Bro! The hustle is insane, I really love it.
PIXEL!!!!! MAN this is nuts, insanely good performance by the Pixel 8! I did not expect it to be a close second! I was really sweating watching that end, you really hyped me there. 😂
Great video Ben, love it.
😅 thanks for watching 👏🏿
Great battery test.....the most dramatical commentary.....kudos man !
Commentary adds the flavour right 😅 thanks for watching
Another great test from across the pond. Love the improvements you've done compared to the previous comparisons. Having the labels of which phone is which has been very helpful. Love it.
I would recommend lowering the magnification bubble on each phone so that it doesn't collide with the results test above. And put a border around the circle. At that point I think you would have a long-term perfect layout.
If you do a comparison of this test with Wi-Fi, if it's anything like the pro versions... Pixel 8 should win first place.
Was not expecting Apple to crater first.
I think the updates from Google have improved the pixel. It's no longer a hot phone by your heat test results. And honestly I don't recall my pixel 8 getting hot anymore.
Thanks for the feedback. I will be doing a follow up WiFi test to see the difference for sure
@@LoverOfTech To clarify my own words. I meant to say lower the position of the magnification bubble. Maybe a little more zoom if possible.
In your past comparisons, especially the PRO phones from last week when you had six on the screen. I constantly forgot which was which... Until the phones were flipped over.
Exynos is really doing a great job,I think that lover of tech should do a battery drain test of the Samsung s24plus exynos vs the Samsung s24 ultra snapdragon version, let’s see how both will perform
Once I get the S24 Plus
didnt samsung get rid of exynos
Techmo has done a s24SD vs s24 exynos
@@hananomer6240 his video is using a defective unit for the exynos s24
@@hananomer6240 for now ,lets wait for lover of tech comparison
imagine if the S24 had snapdragon Gen3!
S24 is really inpressive. The exynoss 2400 is 2x more powerful than tensor G3, and the battery is 570 mah smaller and it still won...
Once again I wanna say thank you for taking the time to do these tests. I am a power user so seeing over 6 hours of battery on the s24 and pixel 8 is great. Keep it up!
Also, congrats on almost 50k subs!!!
Thank you!
What a commentator!😂 One would think it's some kind of boxing match 😂
Keep up the good work man. I love this type of content.🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
You know the vibes for real haha 😄
Thank God someone finally does a mobile data test I barely use Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi seems to save a lot of power for some reason.
After a year the exynos version will do worse then the pixel. Which is sad, but they did better and made it hold as good as a 1 year old s23 with snapdragon.
But a thing I want to see is all phones at this size had 4.500mAh. The ranking would be different like:
1st iphone
2nd samsung
3rd pixel
But truely a great video, this have been needed for years!
you are the GOAT !! amazing tests, on stuff that really matter. And also not on the top premium model, but rather on "real people" models ;) Keep it going my friend
Thank you for watching and supporting 🙏🏿
Good video. Consider also doing these mobile data tests in scenarios with lower signal as those have a different toll on battery. Also would've been even better if you included speed tests.
You requests sound good but please explain to me how I would do it? Don't worry, I'll wait
It's nice to see real world battery testing. Some of the battery tests just don't represent what really goes on in a day as well.
Much appreciated 👏🏿
WoW! Nice test! Therefore, the snapdragon version of S24 will be much better than the Exynos 2400 S24.
Well we have to test and see if that is true
Great video! Thank you for doing it. You should do one more with the S 24 vs the iphone 15 pro, because the 15 simple is no match for the s24 by any mean ( 2 years old chipset, only 2 cameras, only 60 Hz, etc).
So even if there is a price difference, I believe the real competitor for the s24 is the 15 pro.
Keep up the good work!
If I can get the iPhone 15 Pro then I will do it
Lol😂
My conclusions:
1) I'll continue not considering the iPhone as an option
2) The Pixel is an amazing alternative for a very reasonable price
3) That Exynos S24 battery drain is no flagship material, and it should be sold at a MUCH LOWER price than the Snapdragon S24.
finally, someone with the 4g mobile data. Thank you soo much.
@loveroftech Do you think the S24 with Snapdragon would last for 7 hours?
I will be testing soon
I can’t thank you enough for this amazing battery test video 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 this was very useful even though I bought an iPhone 15 just yesterday 😭

When did an Exynos device last win any kind of flagship series battery test?. Great result for Exynos device owners. Big shout out to the Pixel also. It really surprised me.
It was a win by 36 seconds so a very slim one but still a win considering it has a smaller battery size. Thanks for watching 👏🏿
Pixel has like 10% bigger battery tho? @LoverOfTech
@@nttinvis did you watch the battery test? hes talking about the s24, which has a smaller battery, and won the comparison by 36 seconds

@@woro. ik.... but they have similar battery life but pixel has bigger battery so slightly less efficient
Great i search long time for this. Would be nice to know wifi time. Like you did with the pro phones.

Wow, the quality of this video is phenomenal, I like it! Also interesting, if Snapdragon version of S24 will perform better or worse than Exynos
Hopefully I will do that test soon
Snapdragon jest w samsung s23
I've been using iphone 15&14 and Samsung S24 all together, I can say that iphone's batteries last longer for me and sometimes into the next day . Especially the standby battery consumption ia outstanding on iphone. This is something that your videos don't show. But regardless, your test is the best among all I have seen on S24 VS IPhone.
Now that is quite impressive for the exynos chip; how would you reckon the snapdragon 8gen3 variant performs🤡🙌🏽
very interesting comparison, props to you for doing real things as tests, even though we spend 1000 euros on our phones we dont game we still just use social media just beacuse its that smoother than cheaper phones
Very interesting comparison from you exynos 2400 vs 8gen3 s24. Thank you
Great Content no other creator make this kind of real testing.
another absolutely amazing video. still waiting for the test with light performance profile on samsung and also check for the setting called video brightness and set it to normal on the samsung. thank you.
great video just wanted to add that you should keep something under phones when recording video so that they have all the pixels on screen on.
Not sure what you mean but thank for watching anyway
Dude i appreciate your efforts everyone is hatting samsung exynos and pixel and saying they are inferior products but you and nl tech told the truth❤❤
Thanks 🙌🏿
Exynos 2400 is big step forward for Samsung, but there's no Snapdragon in this comparison. (also 4G is nothing new and not putting stress on modem)
Love your video, man. This video is very useful because every phone uses data, most youtubers will use wifi which causes different usage time when using the phone.👍👍
That's a very meaningful test.
I highly praise your experimental spirit.
Thank you for the carefully made review with great talk.
Pixel 8 is good, I didn’t expect it to be so good, if it still had LTPO like on Samsung, the pixel would have won 100%
Pixel did well all things considered
Pixel has larger battery and it sucked compared to samsung.
@@johnsecret1318 you're been too harsh on the Pixel 8. It did well

@@LoverOfTech Signal strength is affected also by phone's modem/network connectivity parts and Qualcomm has the best tech especially for 5G.
So you should try some Snapdragon based phones.
Again while Apple licenses some patents from Qualcomm, they're doing some skimping in transmitting power to artificially inflate battery endurance.
Cousin is working in IT support of schools of big city and they had to have extra cell phone signal boosters and wireless repeaters added, because Apple gadgets of suits were dropping connection, while all other devices worked fine.
I want to know why you always forgot to set screen timeout to never on Samsung.. in s24 ultra video also
Because there is no setting for screen to be never of Samsung. The max time is 10 minutes. Do you honestly think if the setting was there I would've enabled it. Sheesh

Does running on 4GLTE uses more battery than just 4G? Just curious, notice S24 is on 4GLTE and then around 9:38" S24 started switching between bands.
I only ever get 4G indoors and not 5G. That is something I cannot control and I am lucky enough to get good enough data signal indoors to do a test this way
Great battery test that most can relate to.
My suggestion would be getting rid of the Instagram Live thing in your test and do a regular video with those cameras, thats something almost everybody does with their smartphone
Instagram live stays regardless. It's something I do on a regular basis and its part of why this is an Extreme battery drain test
will there be higher brightness vs lower brightness display?
No
So how do we calculate the battery efficiency since these phobe have different battery capacity?

4 efficiency cores in Exynos coming in handy.
Try to test S24 plus vs iPhone 15 plus vs Pixel 8 or 8 pro. Coz Ive been an android from the beginning. Recently switched to iPhone 15 plus. Its battery is pretty remarkable. 11hrs SOT. Almost in par with my midrange 7000mAh battery beast Samsung M51 - which gives me around 13 hrs SOT
