Because in actuality, he never got rid of the Roland. To this very day, the Yamaha Motif Rack running the PowerGrand patch is layered with a Roland MKS-20, the rack unit of the RD-1000. Prior to his use of the Motif unit (pre-2002), I believe the MKS-20 was layered with an Alesis NanoPiano module, and that's the combo you hear in this audio here.
@@realcaydenwilson1 With all due respect, it's impossible for him to be using the Motif here because Yamaha didn't release the Motif series until 2001 (last row in the table: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yamaha_Motif#MOTIF_Classic) and this concert was in 1999. It also doesn't sound like the Motif. Sounds more like the piano at this timestamp: ua-cam.com/video/wzUCjMqNPXI/v-deo.html layered with the MKS-20 to make it less "crunchy"
Elton can do absolutely inhuman things with a piano.
That boogie-woogie bit was inhuman.
Beast mode.
Interesting to here the roughness in his voice whenever he says “Oh they’re so weird and wonderful”
I see it true

omg I so wish I had half his tallent
Why does his Yamaha sound so much like his Roland?

@@realcaydenwilson1 Yes, that is true. So I guess it is the CP300, but I thought I read that Elton used the Alesis at one point
@@KyleCourounis Does the CP-300 have a rack version? How did he layer the MKS-20 with it?
