Thank you! Yeah most of the site has been cleaned up and and is still in use by other industries, while the area the dumper is located in is still abandoned and somewhat contaminated.
I think around 75% of the entire site has been cleaned up and repurposed too! I love how to majority of the structures around the coke plant and coal storage are still standing, including the refractory brick shell of the three coke oven batteries!
I'm under the assumption that it is "met" coal. Bound for coke batterys on the Canadian side. I know on the NS side, thats pretty much all Sandusky is used for (as far as coal is concerned).
Very cool catch, out in the cold!!!
Great video! The way the cars exit the dumper and roll back onto the side track is a neat little operation.
Thanks a lot! I agree, I love how they use gravity and a spring switch to get the empties onto the "return" track!
that's pretty dern cool
Definitely one of the better rail operations in the Buffalo area!
Awesome video 👍😎🇺🇸🚂❄️
Thanks a lot!
I had no clue the place was still in use! Great video!

Amazing video. Old mill still earning it's keep.
Thanks!
It's just surprising seeing how it still works despite of being seen like ruins.
It is pretty wild. I can only imagine what it must be like working at the dumper surrounding by all those derelict structures!
@@mattygunn693 Upgrading would be great
Fascinating operation you filmed with the drone.
Indeed!
Its amazing there's still that much usable infrastructure still left on the old steel mill site. Very interesting perspective!!

Yep, bound for Stelco's Hamilton Works in Hamilton, ON.
Is it the switcher giving the disconnected car a good kick to send it up the hill, or something else?
Gravity. After the empty is pushed out of the dumper, it rolls downhill before going uphill over the spring switch.
