I don’t think the people who are criticising this movie have ever watched a Disney channel original movie. It’s not cinema. It’s targeted towards preteens and teens. This looks like it will be a really good coming of age movie and it’s been a while since Disney has given us the classic Disney movie feel like this
Disney channel movies were some of the best when I was a kid.. Classics like Johnny Tsunami, The Thirteenth Year, or Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century.. SO good.
Yeah, it gives off some nice classics DCOM vibes and not in a bad way. I can see myself checking it out purely for nostalgia reasons
Or a John Hughes film. This one is packed full of references.
It reminded me of the film “Prom” which was advertised on Disney channel. It looks like a reimagined version of that

Good job Disney, it's giving that Disney Original movie feel that I was accustomed to in the 90s and early 2000s, with a slight 80s feel. I may watch this one

Slight 80s? There were at least to direct 80s movies scenes! The dancing from breakfast club and risky business
right.... Disney channel originals used two be some of the best things Disney made. They aren't cinematic master pieces but good on their own.. plus Disney channel originals are better than straight to Disney plus movies.

Well if we go by the current trajectory of Disney girls she's probably gonna show her tits in a few months, peeing videos, tattoos in weird places and most likely a song with pornographic lyrics that'll make your grandma cry and your grandfather hard.

@@porkatal795 nah, Freaky Friday is fr a disney original movie (inspired by a book). first version came out in 1976 by Disney and then recycled in 1995 and 2003, it's the og-OG this one cuz stayed alive and loved for ages, crazy stuff. 🫡🫡

it's ok if you don't agree tho, i just meant that usually canadian/australian Disney productions slaps in a lighter & relatable way. it's good & i miss that.

@@gbekeee858 Yeah, in a way, "Twichies" was entirely filmed in Toronto. The majority of the production happened there and stuff, it gives us the canadian vibes and also the setting.🌻

i love how they're putting random disney actors in a film. i feel like this shows that these actors have a variety of acting traits, outside from their previous cast ^^ plus, it promotes them in a new limelight!

The ZOMBIES franchise (Milo played Zed) only finished in 2022. So he's probably still with Disney because he's a recent, well known face. I'm sure in a few years he'll have other roles that show his range better!

@@officialmai they filmed most of it over spring break last year, then they did it during school hours, they closed off some areas and we had to be quiet sometimes while walking around school grounds.

This looks like an ode to 80s teen rom coms and I love it!
I remember my prom year, my girls and I made a pact to go with each other as a group. This guy that every girl had a crush on in highschool then asked me to prom, saying he'd liked me since grade 10, but I said no cause he used to date my bestfriend in grade 9 (and she was the type of person who'd still be upset if I'd said yes) even though I liked him too. I didn't regret it cause I already chose to go with my friends. Until come prom day and said bestfriend shows up with a prom date, saying she couldn't say no to the guy. So dude literally hung around us like a 7th wheel. Then we were supposed to go to this prom after party at a friend's of ours as planned, but said bestfriend changed the plans last minute and decided for us to go to a party at her date's friends place, and I had to tag along cause I was out voted. Safe to say I was pissed (also I'm on the spectrum so I don't deal with change well). We didn't stay close friends after graduation, and I think that night was really telling of what her priorities were.
Point is, for you kiddos going into prom, don't leave any regrets! It might be one silly night, but it's your one silly night. So spend it the way you want to spend it!
You have a good head over your shoulders and a great friend!! You truly deserved better that the both of them. Hope you're happily surrounded with good people now. 😊

As for the guy, we spent some time together during the summer after grad. But we broke it off before it got serious because we were headed in opposite directions in the fall. I headed off to university in a different province (I'm from Canada ✌️) while he stayed local. When I'd come home, he'd be away in Europe (handmaking violins and guitars). Then I moved back home for work and then again, he moved away for work. The few times we were in the same place at the same time, I was dating someone else or he was.
It was never the right time nor place, but we still keep in touch. He messaged me months into my first year of uni, saying that he still wanted me in his life. So we text, call, and even write letters to this day. Sometimes we don't message one another for months, but we can pick off where we left off with no effort. I wouldn't call him my best friend, but he is the one friend that I know who will always be in my life and who I can tell anything to.
I have no idea if we'll ever end up together, but we'll always be in each other's lives. 'Tis my own tragic romance 😅

It's sweet that you write letters to each other. I relate to the part where you said even if you don't message each other for months, you can pick up where you left off. Those relationships are really special. It's rare to find people who get you, and you feel like you've known them all your life or a past life. It sounds like the timing wasn't right (you were dating someone or he was). But as a hopeless romantic, I'd like to think that if two people were meant for each other, they would find their way back to each other, even if people or things tried to stop them. However, one can't simply sit back. There must be effort too. One of my favorite quotes: "Fate's got a lot to do. Sometimes, you must give her a hand." So it doesn't have to be a tragic romance. If he has your heart, I'm rooting for you! If not, then I hope you find someone worthy of it

The 80's romance movies and soundtrack were so amazing that they kept using and referencing it to this day. I remember a more modern rendition of "Melt with you" on Sky High. Back then I didn't know that it was just a cover, and that the song was from the 80's
