I'm not generally an Aquaman fan, but John's New 52 run is so good! Also just got done reading JLD and loved it! Got a little weak toward the end IMO, but I still really liked it.

You should be. There are MANY incredible runs. While i love the new 52 aquaman runs (they ALL were good not just johns) there are better

I loved the new 52. It actually got me into comics i think some of the best titles for me are Batman,Swamp thing, justice league, wonder woman, aquaman, flash up until the last volume and jl dark
Hey Mike! Nice rundown of New 52 runs! My favorite, hands-down run was the Snyder/Capullo "Batman"! I also loved the first couple HCs of the Tomasi/Gleason "Batman & Robin" as well! Same w/the Geoff Johns "Justice League" & "Aquaman"! Actually, unlike what seems to be most DC fans, I really liked the New 52! My only issue w/it was the issue that I have w/all shared universes... I can't financially keep up w/all the crossovers, events, etc, lol! They're awesome, but I just don't have the budget.🙁 Still... it was awesome while I could keep up! I know one of the things that bugged DC fans was the new costumes. They were more functional-looking & realistic. I thought much of the stories I read felt a bit more realistic than a good deal of pre-New 52 stories I've read. And yes, they were sometimes a bit darker. And I know those aspects bugged a lot of fans too. But while I know superheroes are fantasy, I can still find fantasy that is a bit more grounded-- & maybe a little darker-- to be very appealing! For instance, I loved "Man of Steel" for its grounded, more realistic take. I've found that a lot if people who hated "Man of Steel" also hated the New 52; and a lot of people who loved "Man of Steel" loved(or at least liked, lol) the New 52(or at least part of it). Anyhow, thanx for another great video, Mike! ☺👍🏻👍🏻❤

I loved red Lanterns and supergirl crossover, the static shock start was good too.
I feel like another hidden gem is I, Vampire. I literally judged this book by it’s cover and initially had no interest in it. A friend told me to check it out and I was shocked at how good it really was. I highly recommend it.
Some of the art was worth seeing.

Agreed with this entire list but I did read all of the New 52 comics (yes, every single one) and so I'll add some to it.
I really like Batman and Robin, super great. Also, Batman / Superman, Superman / Wonder Woman, Action Comics (the start of it with Grant Morrison), The Flash, Deathstroke (second half), Red Lanterns (best lantern book I've read), Batman Inc., Grayson, and Gotham Academy (most underrated comic to come out of New 52, read it right now if you haven't!!!).
DC You followed to tie into Rebirth and it had some bangers too but standouts were Midnighter, The Omega Men, We Are Robin and Superman: Lois and Clark.
I highly recommend all of these if you haven't read them. They're highlights of an otherwise darkened era of DC comics. If it wasn't for these I probably wouldn't still be reading everything DC publishes.

I cant believe u left out “Red lanterns”, if u havnt read that run it was great, it made me love guy gardner, i honestly wished they would have kept him a red and made it an on going solo title permanently with guy being THE “Red Lantern” as good guy....supergirls red daughter run crossed over into it too (which this was also great period of supergirl books too....honestly i loved the N52 in beginning like first few years, i thought it was bold re boot, n breath of fresh air, n i can say from seeing thru my kids eyes, it was a great jump on point for a whole new gen of fans now, and i get peoples problems with changes, but my biggest problem was that they didnt fully commit to it, its like people got upset initially, and then 3 years in when it was gaining legs, they over reacted to the criticism from 3 years prior, n made the whole continuity a mess trying to course correct lol, i wish they wud have just really committed n kept it the N52 proper, instead they tried to like backdoor undo it n was annoying, like turning batgirl into an archie comic after such an amazing simone run, i got issue 35 home like WTF?! Lol

Everybody craps on the new52 but there was way more better titles the dc currently has. Justice League, SwampThing, I Vampire, Batman, Animal Man, Green Lantern, All Star Western, Batman and Robin and plenty more.
I was dreading reading new 52 stuff because the first few things I read felt extremely rushed (wonder woman and vol.1 of justice league dark), but I went back now and I am so impressed with so much of it, Frankenstein, allstar western, animal man, jl dark, detective comics (except the Gordon volumes those were awful), talon...etc There's soooo may incredible stuff i barely hear anyone talk about

First half of Demon Knights was rather quite good. Unfortunately the latter portions couldn't live up to my high expectations
I'll probably get a lot of hate for this - but I was a big fan of the New 52, and your video showcases exactly why. I didn't pick up Green Arrow, so I can;t comment on that one, but I loved all the others you mentioned, and I'd like to add "I, Vampire" and "Secret Six" (S6 is actually one of the best series I've ever read!). Lowlights wrt New 52 for me would have to be the revamped twinky Lobo (urgh, soooo awful!) and the disappearance of his former teammates ie Dox's L.E.G.I.O.N. Still waiting for their triumphant return!
I notice for Year Zero, you can get it digitally on Comixology either as separate volumes or as one collection, but the one collection seems to have fewer pages than buying the two volumes separately. What would give me the best story?
most of the launch titles from the new 52 were canceled. i love jeff parker maybe i'll look for aquaman. btw check out hamilton books they have dial h deluxe new for 8 dollars. ive only used them once, but my things came quick and in perfect shape.

Very short run but Demon Knights by Paul Cornell was a favorite of mine. Also if you have never read his 15 issue run of Captain Britain & MI:13 is a best kept Marvel secret. A great writer than can’t seem to hit.
My #1 favourite title was I Vampire by Jeff Lemire & Andrea Sorentino
Lemiere really wrote great books involving archers.
I, Vampire was a great underrated series in the new 52. Long Live, Andrew Bennett
Nightwing should have been mentioned as well.
New 52 has a lot of issues but it did provide some gems. Some that I enjoyed are Dial H, Animal Man, All Star Western, Justice League Dark, Frankenstein, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Batman and Robin, Shazam, Green Arrow (Lemire), Green Lantern - New Guardians, Red Lanterns, Lafreeze, and Swamp Thing (Soule)

Id love to do a lil debate here in the comments about you thinking the new 52 was bad, and id like to counter your points. I can argue from the stand point that there are far more good and great than bad. And if you say things like the new 52 over all was messy, or something like that, i will counter with the fact that marvel and dc have been MESSY since they both came into existence so thats a bad argument if one choses to go there. Anyways, name some awful books and lets see how i can counter. And if you go off trying to say books like red hood and the outlaws were trash, oh man youre in for an ass kicking here
Question does Scott Snyder Batman omnibuses have the whole Batman eternal run? So I won’t need to buy the whole Batman eternal omnibus right? I can just get the Scott Snyder omnibus?
Swamp Thing, Wonder Woman (Azzarello/Chiang), Animal Man and I, Vampire were the best New 52 books for me.
At 2:20 you mention the Eternal for Batman. Just wondering what eternal is?
Batman Eternal was a 52 issue weekly series that ran for a year. It had multiple Bat family people working on it. Batman and Robin Eternal was its sequel and it was 26 issue biweekly. Your mileage may vary on them, I gave up a quarter way through, others loved it.

I’ve been looking at getting Scott Snyder’s run on Batman for a while but I’m a but intimidated by all the tie in books like Death of the Family, Zero Year, City of Owls and Endgame. Can I read the ten volumes of Snyder’s run without those tie in books because I don’t have a lot of money it spend on comics so it might take me a while to get all the books or are they necessary for the story? That’s what’s been stopping me diving into the new 52 Batman stuff tbh although I’ve been wanting to read it for a while. I don’t know much about what to read when either like where Batman Eternal and Batman and Robin Eternal/Robin War fit into things and if you need to be reading the other bat books like Detective Comics and The Dark Knight to understand things.
You can read the 10 TPB volumes of Snyder’s Batman and you’ll get a complete story, even without Batman Eternal and Batman & Robin Eternal! No need to worry about tie ins, they typically didn’t add much to the story itself.
The Hardcover Comic great, thanks for the response that’s really helpful. I’ve only been collecting comics for a few years so most of what I’ve read is from the Rebirth and post-Metal lines which I’ve really enjoyed and Batman is my favourite character so I’ve been wanting to pick up the new 52 stuff for some history and just because I’ve heard it’s great. I’ll pick up the ten Snyder Batman books and them maybe come back and read stuff like Batman Eternal after, thanks for your help.
Scarce Hyperion Anytime! As for Batman recommendations, check out Dark Knight Returns, Year One, Long Halloween, Dark Victory, Killing Joke, and Grant Morrison’s Batman run is by far the best ever (although I recommend being decently versed in Batman mythology before starting)

The two comics that will tell you everything you need to know about DC and Marvel are DC: The New Frontier and then Marvels. They are must reads.

Aquaman by Johns was great. Does wonder woman need to be absolute or will the omni be oversized enough? Gonna have to get those justice league dark. I've gotta add green arrow to the mix as well. Swamp Thing was also great.

No Red Hood and the Outlaws lol? I will say that the first two trades are really good. After that, you might as well just move on to the Red Hood and the Outlaws Rebirth run.
ALSO, Grant Morrison's run on Action Comics is great and seriously needs to be collected in some sort of HC edition.
Until then, im just waiting for the New 52 Batman Omnibus v2 and the Batman and Robin Eternal Omnibus.
Forgot that Grant Morrison also did some Batman Inc. during the New 52, which was also really good. But that is collected in an Absolute and is the best way to read that book imo.
Finally, Grayson. That Omni is getting re-released soon for some reason.
