I mean this in the most respectful way. Youve been doing this for so long, i watched you 14+ years ago. And youre still here grinding even though youve never had a big pop off in terms or views. Its amazing how dedicated you are to your passion
This is basically my outlet for all my nerdy shit haha. I got everything I can want in life in terms of a good and steady job, all I own, a family I love.
Doing this is mostly just a fun way to talk to people about nerd stuff.
The numbers were cool back in the video game era, but with that also came all the hate comments and dearh threats and shit. Honestly, it wasn't great for my mental health.
This laid back, a couple hundred views, is calmer and fun for me. 😊
What I really hope for are storylines that push these characters forward. My biggest issue with Superman and Batman is that they don't really evolve anymore. They're so stagnant. But Flash mantle going back to Wally, exploring superboy and Jon's arc with Earth 3? I feel like there's more potential than ever to actually progress these characters and make some lasting changes
I think Superman becoming a full family man was nice change. I do agree that Batman, in main continuity, feels a bit stagnet though.
DC must develop all their characters, not just Batman.
Agreed!
I take it back, DC hasn’t lost it’s touch, Marvel is something I have lost all faith in.
I dunno Marvel got some bangers. Bout to talk about one next week!
@@UltimateChance True, but they still treat Spider-Man like garbage.
Ive always bounced between eras when it comes to comics so i'm almost always lagging behind of the more current stuff. There's a ton of Rebirth, Future State, and Johnson's War World superman id like to get around to still but for now i think im gonna give myself permission to let go of trying to read everything ive missed and instead make an effort to jump into this new era. I might not end up understanding the intricacies of certain things but there's a certain fun in going back and learning the who, what and why if i enjoy the character already. Plus it'll be nice to see a new wave from the beginning for a change.
I jump around SO much in timelines, it would be impossible to stick to one for me haha. Enjoy it all I say!
As for which era of dc comics I liked the most my favorite era had to be Post crisis and DC rebirth because both eras in my personal opinion were really great time to be a dc fan and plus both eras felt DC comics was finally moving forward which i was actually happy to read during those days, and plus DC rebirth gave me my favorite team the super sons with Jonathan Samuel Kent superboy as his little 10 year old self and Damian Wayne robin being a great team which in my personal opinion was my all time favorite team and was such a great concept that I was so happy to see both Jon and Damian go on fun adventures at least in my opinion. :)
my favorite era has to be like death of superman/start of geoff johns jsa/90s aquaman to flashpoint everything felt so connected and felt like everything sort of mattered and everything was connected especially in that identity crisis lead up, through identity crisis itself, pre during and post infinite crisis with the 1 year later and 52 (my favorite run ever) stuff, even after that, sinestro corps war, and then into countdown (even tho that sucked), green arrows wedding, final crisis, blackest night, it was all so fun and connected
That was a great period! Especially the IC onward till New 52 for me.
Thank you for the video. This helped me figure out what the hell I missed I have only been away for a couple years and I want to start again
Glad I could help!
Personally for me I would rather have Jonathan Samuel Kent Superboy as his little 10 year old self then have him still be aged up for bullshit reasons that a lot of people myself included still don't like till this day, and it drives me crazy that DC won't just undo this horrible mistake and deage Jonathan Samuel Kent superboy back to his little 10 year old self. Mostly because we never ever got a chance to see Jonathan Samuel Kent superboy grow up naturally and seeing him develop the right way and grow up with his friends Damian Wayne Robin Kathy aka beacon and Maya ducard aka nobody being great friends and having fun adventures at least in my opinion. Which is just isn't fair because a lot of people myself included liked Jonathan Samuel Kent superboy as his little 10 year old self and learning how to become a great hero and to take that all that away for garbage publicity stunt is just wrong and mess up on so many levels that it ain't even funny but just sad and depressing at least in my opinion.
Me too my friend plus... the teenager john has bee used to display a lot of political stuff and thats is tiresome at least for me
I stopped buying DC about 20 months into The New 52. It was a huge mess. Rebirth tried fixing all that, and was somewhat successful. As for Dawn of DC, I actually bought Adventures of Superman: Jon Kent #1. I got both red/blue foil covers, and the 1/50 Maiolo/Henry foil cover.
I liked his evil persona in Superman & Lois, and the covers looked awesome.
As for why I stopped buying DC. I could sense alot of stuff didn't make sense. There was no structure or plan. I basically spent over 1200 dollars on books that are literally not relevant anymore. The only books worth keeping is Batman (Court of Owl saga) Detective Comics #1, JL Dark, Action Comics #9 (1st Calvin Ellis)
and that's pretty much it.
At least with Marvel at that time, I have several keys, great runs that still hold their value, and many more books worth keeping.
With Dawn of DC, I could be making a mistake not jumping in, but maybe that could change if Gunn saves DC.
I'm really coming into DC comics with this era. I'm touching on some of the stuff that came before it like Tom Taylor's stuff with Nightwing and Jon, but large in part starting here. I'm excited actually! I've been a marvel comics fan mostly for a long while but they've been really disappointing lately. DC seems to have a lot more vision for it's current runs.
Any series you're really enjoying for Dawn so far?
As for Marvel, they have a few bangers like current Captain America run, Captain Marvel, Moon Knight, Daredevil, Ghost Rider, Strange Academy, Dr. Strange, Avengers (just started) immortal X-men and more. But I'm most excited for the up and coming Ultimate universe revival spearheaded by Hickman!
@@UltimateChance I'll have to check those out! From Marvel Moon Knight has always been my true love.
As for Dawn of DC, I've enjoyed Superboy more than I really expected I would, Nightwing continues to be fantastic and beautiful, and Posion Ivy also surprised me! Gives me some hope that the Penguin comic won't be a waste of time lol.
I'm looking forward to reading Jon Kent's running story though as I think that character has a lot of potential and I want to see him come into his own. I also am looking forward to getting around to Green Arrow as I've heard stellar things about it.
Give me ReRebirth OR GIVE ME *DEATH!*
Yeah!
I never got why the New 52 was necessary. I jumped into comics a little before Identity Crisis & read what I had. And went back bought previous hardcovers & trades to learn what came before. And I caught up on what I needed to know. I feel that if you care enough about the characters and story you'll wanna go back a read what came before. The New 52 basically pushed me away cause it was like everything you read and care about doesn't matter. That's why I left. Now with the Dawn of DC it feels like a return to form & I'm collecting again.
New 52 idea wasn't bad it was the lack of thought in the long run. A lot of series started getting canceled by the end of year 1 and it got messier and messier.
@UltimateChance no, I get the thought behind it, but to sacrifice so much history in the hopes of getting new readers is crazy. I think the Dawn of DC is on the right track to do what the NEW 52 set out to do. Also, yeah, canceling so many titles at a rapid pace was not a smart move.
@@carmelosandoval5775 I see your point, but honestly New 52 was amazing for me. Gave me and so many friends great jumping on points and we didn't feel like we were just lost with decades of material. Rebirth was much the same.
I very recently started reading comics fully and I've been wondering where to jump in to DC so this could work for me.
Oh, for sure! Are there any titles catching your interest?
@@UltimateChance I need to take a look at the full list but Superman is for sure one I'll be in on
@@EoinW974 Superman is great to jump on. Another easy one for sure is Superboy and maybe City Boy!
Interesting. I've never heard the era between metal events being referred to as new justice
I heard it when Snyders justice league started and just kind of stuck with it haha. Not sure if legit.
looking forward to batman and robin series by joshua williamson
Same looks fun!
So after the Dark Crises event and Pariah trying to bring back the original multiverse... is it back? Or is the new 52 multiverse still the only one?
Kind of combining the two.
Invincible, the tick , and mcu has got me to finally dip into comics. Glad I joined in at an “easier” time. Read milstone hardware & some green lantern so far 👍🏾
Hi i'm new in comics so i wanted to know, do i have to read every series in dawn of dc to understand the whole story or i can read the books i love most and still understand the whole story?
You can pick ans choose! That's the best part. No need to read em all 😊
New 52 didn't work because they removed the underwear 😂
Should have stayed gone 👻
@@UltimateChance Agree to disagree 🤣👍
I know people didn’t really like the new 52, but I’ve always felt like Superman and Wonderwoman were the perfect match. It makes the most sense
I actually liked that pairing too!
I fucked hard with the new 52. Love Clark’s take no bullshit approach. And he fucked up doomsday. Kinda sad to see him sacrifice himself for the classic sups but I enjoy his time
While I agree Dawn of DC is shaping up as a great era, Lazarus Planet is what kicked it off, and it was hot trash. It’s funny you didn’t mention it’s existence in the video 😂
That's cause it was so incredibly bland and shitty we pretend to ignore it. 🙃

Dawn of dc is a serious mixed bag with way more bad then good. dc still isnt worth investing untill we get back to basics as to what these characters are about and start telling good super hero stories again.
I'd like to stir up a conversation here. I got some nitpicks and I'm just curious if anyone agrees.
I know a lot of people love Jon Kent, but I kinda wish they would somehow erase Superman and Lois' children from continuity. No matter how hard I try, I just can't get behind those two characters having kids together.Think about it for a second. Could Lois Lane survive giving birth to Superman's child or would the child tear her apart in the process? Could Lois and Superman even fuck without Lois being seriously hurt or killed? I've always found more intrigue in the concept of a Superman and Wonder Woman relationship like the one from Earth-31 and to a lesser extent, the New 52.
Another nitpick is Superman's suit. The suit HAS to come from Krypton or be fashioned using come kinda Kryptonian technology. It makes no sense that Martha Kent made it for him from the material inside his ship. None at all. Fire can't burn it, blades can't cut it, and bullets can't pierce it, but good ol' Ma Kent's sewing needle and scissors can slide right though it? Come on now! Haha
Anybody got an opinion? It's all in good fun.
I actually like Doomsday Clock. Shame that it's retconed
Same!
5g would have ruine dc
Maybe!
