Thanks for the clip and to CI for pioneering in my book the first legit Video of average surfers on a new design. To me you guys honestly showcased a new board that works in short sec swell period! Bravo to you guys for transparency while showcasing what you’re preaching! Tired of the rubbish claims of a TRUE small wave board while watching a 6’5 150lb ripper from cali trying to sell me… 👏🏻🤙
Thanks for watching, Jay! If you end up getting one, Have fun and enjoy!!!
Have fun from Florida guys!
Keep up the good work…
how do you compare the g skate with the rochet wide surfing ?
Looking good Yuri!
Thank you!!!
Yes bro. I always say ride CI lol always lol . Good job out there your surfing good
Thank you, Strider!!!
i miss that drive to rockaway.. always gotta watch out for them speed cameras lol
haha.. for real! They add them so often. You can't keep up sometimes.
Hey Mr Skipper? Great content and info... You ride the g skate and Fm. Thinking of a 7'2" love machine which i know is a totally different board to say a 6ft g skate, but both look fun. Do you think g skate is a little gimmicky and we're all getting sucked in by clever marketing. Fm appeals as it's got such a different design. Hull, twinzer, those rails!! Actually been riding a ci rw squash all winter, straight forward no frills board, that been amazing...
I hear you Adrian! The G skate is a great choice for someone with a shortboard experience to ditch a high performance shortboard to have more fun. There are not many boards that can handle a wide range conditions like perform well in small waves as good as when it's big!
It can replace your groveler if you are good surfer who knows how to generate speed and surf in the pocket. I think if you go bigger with the G skate to match the volume of the FM then it won't be a good idea. To size up G skate is basically take your shortboard and add 2-3 liters more on top. I consider FM more related to a high performance mid length and can't compare to the G skate at all. So, the G skate is not gimmicky at all. I'm actually considering now to sell all my other boards LOL. Cheers!
Would be great to see you try an M23. Great reviews buddy.
Yes, that board looks fun! May be I could get one for my birthday next year😄
You are progressing! Thx for great gskate review cuz I ordered it too haha
Thank you, Dabin! What size did you go with and what’s your height/weight/level?
@@SkipperSurfReview how are you feeling about the 5'8 for size at your weight?
@@Surf_Salt feels right. But I wouldn’t go any bigger than 5’8”.. but if I surfed Trestles or good point break, I would go 5’6”😁
@@SkipperSurfReview how does that tail go in small waves? ...most small wave boards having wide tails so you can easily get back on it in weak waves. How do you like this compared to a more of a standard small wave performance board like a dominator or NB2
Hey mate. Love your reviews. What board do you think paddled better out of the G Skate or the Big Baron?
Which board do you prefer to ride?
Hey Steve! It’s hard to say since I’ve never tried Big Baron in the same dimensions. The G skate does paddle great. It also works amazing on late drops.
I would prefer G skate for more performance and better construction!
What’s best coffee thermos? Also, you need to talk about leash strings and railsavers
I love Hydroflask brand. I had a great experience with them. The lid broke somehow after 2 years of extensive use and then sent me replacement for free.
Which railsavers? :)
You don’t usually rock a traction pad, right? Did you like it?
Yes, I do like it. The tail goes way narrow and having that traction pad helps to avoid my back foot to slide off. All my other boards had wider tail. This is the narrowest I’ve ever had though.
Do u prefer the fins you used here or the fins you bought from CI
Well, I didn't notice any difference. May be on a good clean day I should try both of them. Based on the template they look very similar. If I would go back and wanted to save some $ then I would prefer to go with the Drift Fin Co. Btw, I'm collaborating with them now. They offer 20% off on fins if you go to this link: invi.tt/FWKC
@@SkipperSurfReview Totally, I’ll be sure to use the link after I saved up some money for the board haha , i demoing it right now and it’s so fun
Why were you wearing boots and gloves, it's gotten a lot warmer?
Bro, it's still chilly out there. I can probably ditch the boots but my feet were even cold in 3 mm booties.. I will give it 2 more weeks till I may ditch one or another haha. Where do you surf?
@@SkipperSurfReview I surf cups and the Westhampton jetty’s, I haven’t been out there in months I feel you but I will surf on Friday and hopefully rely on 7mm boots and no gloves
Early morning!
Haha always!
@@SkipperSurfReviewhi Skipper, thanks so much for your reviews! Have you tried the Revo yet?
Also have you ever surfed Cabo?
No, I don’t have a long list of places where I surfed before. I went to Oahu, HI 5 times, Costa Rica, DR, PR (5 times), CR, Portugal and Brazil (Floripa). I would love to make to Mexico some day soon! It looks so fun! Cheers!
@@SkipperSurfReview thanks, yea I might go, where’s the best place you’ve gone for intermediate + surfer?
Hey have you tried the slater fins?
Yes, I’ve tried Endorfins KS1 thruster last Sunday in New Jersey. Sadly I lost all my footage from that session. 3-5 ft + size, perfect peelers with open face! I had blast. It def makes it more predictable to drawn out the turns. I would surf them again on a perfect wave with open face. However the AMT 2+1 works great too, keeping it fun in overall conditions! We are gonna have another swell tomorrow!
@@SkipperSurfReview thanks, I want to try the slater fins in a quad or 2+1 on my No Brainer. They’re expensive but I still might go for them.
@@SkipperSurfReview I’m from NJ where do you surf?
@@SkipperSurfReview I also wanted to ask have you tried the rusty blade or the 84 they look like they would work well in NJ surf
@@scottcuttre9705 Sorry to butt it... but the Slater 2 + 1 are the best twin fin template and tech I've ever ridden. The template is wide at the base but also upright so it turns really well but still has hold. And the flex with the carbon fiber is sooo good. Also, it comes with 2 trailer fins and you can put them in the rear boxes as a quad set up (with the larger "shark" fin on the heel side) or just use as the twin plus one. They are epic fins! Highly recommend! Yewww. 🤙
Would it be dumb to to order this board with a normal glass job instead of the thin one
A normal glass job would make it heavier and not perform as good IMO, right? :)
@@SkipperSurfReviewthank for your help, it just sucks to spend so much money and the board doesn’t last as long bc of the thin glassing
If your friend is an intermediate surfer then you are pro
May be Advanced Intermediate...
Not enough rocker and the tail is too long. You can see the surfers struggling to get it to turn off the bottom - even the good surfers. Until it's big and powerful and then of course it goes like all boards will. And "Skipper" here is about 3' tall and weighs nearly 50 pounds! What, he's on a 5'2"?
It doesn’t need to be big.. like when it’s solid 2-3 ft punchy waves, the board will go!
