When I see something like this I can't help but wonder how heartbroken the person who built it would be if they saw what happened over time to their pride and joy.

This has got be one of my most favorite video of yours!!! (Even though I like all your videos). After seeing the way it was, when you showed now, the emotional sadness to see this is all that’s left was almost overwhelming. I love the cool stone work, the walks, railing in the pond and the steps. Very cool!! I don’t it should have been bulldozed....such a grandiose and majestic place it must have been!!

I'm from New Jersey and never knew this place existed. Just from the old picture you posted this place was beautiful at its time. I don't understand why the park didn't maintain it and make it a museum . I could imagine all the tourists that would come to see its beauty. So sad that they bulldozed the top section. Thank you for showing me a historical place in my home state.

The neat part of this house is being able to see enough to appreciate the construction skills of the time. At the time of 1911, the date of build, my grandmother was six. There were no computers. Everything was brought into such sites. Often manufactured on site for custom fit. What you showed underneath was indeed complicated remains for only those who know to decifer. I love this stuff.
This has an impressive foundation! It's probably still there because it was too hard to knock down. What beautiful bones for a house.
Vikingsholm in Lake Tahoe is similiar in some ways. Fortunately not destroyed except a bit of mother nature. It was given to the state and now run as a state park with tours including the tea house on a tiny island in Lake Tahoe near the house. The home is Scandinavian in style.

There is a park near me with a house that was donated to the park. It’s open and maintained. It doesn’t take away from the beauty of the park. Too bad this wasn’t done with this mansion and grounds. It was too beautiful to let go.

I can only imagine what this was like in it's prime. What a shame that the back side of the manor was bulldozed 😪💔 but the remainder of the house is quite beautiful still...even it's present state. Breathtaking view of the river and NY beyond that 😍 I held my breath when y'all were on the edge of that steep drop off 😮😯 What an absolutely 💯 amazing exploration 🥰👍👍😁😁 The walkways and trails are also very pretty 😍 A great spot to go to in the spring or early summer...what a place for a picnic 😀😊❤

They could have just halted any further development in the area ..Not very nice to purchase the place and then stipulate it be torn down . The mansion and grounds would have been a wonderful guided tour experience for the public if nothing else. . . oh, well .. just my two cents. Great of Kathy to let you know about this awesome place and thank you for sharing it with us. ...gorgeous photos , Jay .

It looks like he built to blend in with mother nature. The house was the same color as the boulders of the cliff. If the land is 25 acres there would not have been any building close by. It still could have been a park with the building for historical purposes. I don't understand all the holes and why they are not blocked to keep from falling in. When you first came down the terrace a slab of stone was on top of the wall. Was that limestone? When you went to the cliff I got nauseas. I can't do heights. Even in a video. Thanks for the tour. Be safe.

Awesome explore of such an intriguing place!! I’m fascinated with this house and grounds and the way it was built. It amazes me how they built homes without all of our modern machinery. Imagine the work that went into clearing the land to build it. Your camera did a great job of capturing the beauty of it all, but especially the Hudson River. You scared the crap out of me when you were standing on what looked like the edge of the cliffs! Seems like just looking down from that height would make you dizzy and lose your balance. Which is why I’ve always hated heights. Lol. Your photo montage at the end was beautiful and your choice of music was perfect! You should make a return trip in the spring or summer to see what flowers are still coming up. I bet there’s a lot! Thanks so much for taking me along on your explore! You’re the best!! 👍🏼💙😊🌺🌏💫

That's so sad of that beautiful building to destroy it.. Whats wrong with people. The beautiful stone work, and winding steps going no ware. I surprised if someone would come in and rebuid, the foundatation is there. So many holes they should be capped or put rock into them. What a shame to destrory such a beautiful landscape. Can't they build sound berries along the freeways, we have that here in Minnesota. This was a super great find so beautiful and yet so sad, but that is the way it goes. Someone can still build on the property, those rocks will last for another 150 years. Thank you so much JP.

Thoroughly enjoyed it! Love the old remains and trying to piece together what it would have looked like in the day! Glad you had the old photos!
I'm wondering if they would have had staff living in the lower level...or a root cellar? Seems the staff wouldn't have lived in the upper chambers like in some manors.
You mentioned going back in the summer. I would think early spring to see any bulb flowers starting to peek through.
I've gone exploring and dug up the old 'scrambled eggs' type daffodils, different iris, spider lilies! to replanted at my house. Tough as old nails, them bulbs!
    Anyway, enjoyed it very much!

pretty amazing and incredible place did you see how thick those walls were? must of been fun to keep warm on those winter days and nights sad that the place was left to deteriorate thanks for taking me along

I enjoyed the video J P. I am terrified of heights, every time you go near the edge my stomach turns over. Love the history of the manor, such a shame they pulled it down. The views are stunning, and your photography brilliant.

I would speculate there are tunnels from the manor to the garden. Love this! Great video.

@@JPVideos81 That would be a cool find. If there are tunnels, they might be somewhat collapsed and be difficult to find. I have not read too much history on the property, but then again, secret tunnels may not be included on the information to the public. Again, great video.

It's been interesting to watch and see. I just never understood the building of something so huge and massive. Too often, mansions are too much of a cost in upkeep and too often, they are left to rot. I would rather they left it standing instead of what they have now there.

That was really cool man. What a beautiful place it was back in its day. Hell, it's still beautiful now. Such a shame this one got forgotten to history.
I enjoyed the whole tour, but I especially liked that part we were able to get down into that old basement. Not sure why but it was just something really neat about being able to get down into the existing structure

I think it's terrible that they tore down and destroyed the mansion. They could have kept it and opened it as a museum. Horticulturists could have taken over the garden and used it as a teaching tool. There could have been so many different and diverse uses for it rather than destroying it. Very interesting explore, especially the holes in the ground that were actual parts of the house.

Great video. I watch because I though it was on the Ohio, but was not at all disappointed. I like your work. Please keep it up. I like your vids in the Smokies, around SMNP especially. It is a very special place for the wife and myself. Thank you and God bless.
