I’ve heard too many people, especially people who call themselves pastors,tell women that they have to but there husband first over anyone else, no matter what, including sexual abuse of the children. They say that you promised that till death do you part, so you can’t leave that man. Nobody has an answer when I ask about what’s the responsibility of a mother to keep that man from molesting her minor child. A father is supposed to provide and protect, and since he’s obviously not protecting the young person that he is molesting, this child really doesn’t have anyone else other than their mother to keep them safe. In a case like that, it seems only right to me that the mother takes seriously her responsibility to keep her child protected, and that she must prioritize keeping her child safe over any wicked desires that her husband has. The “put the husband first “ crowd only responds by telling the mother to “just pray” and be submissive so you can win him over. There’s a video on UA-cam now in which supposed to be Christians address this issue by saying the woman cannot leave the man even in this circumstance, because she 's supposed to be his helper and his helpmeet. And if she leaves, who’s going to help the husband? I have always seen this approach as worse than a bunch of garbage. To me, it is a complete misrepresentation of the character of Christ to say that any parent, male or female, is supposed to allow somebody who is harming the children to remain under the same roof with the children. It also misrepresents the character of Christ to the young abuse victim, who may equate the evilness of her abuser with the identity of who God is, especially since church people are saying this poor child has to remain living under the same roof as her abuser. It is far past time for pastors to demand that people who call themselves Christians either throw out the abuser, or leave with children so they can be safe from molestation. I thank God that I did not personally go through this, but I know someone who did, and it has had lifelong negative consequences for her entire life. As I see it, God never meant for marriage vows to be used as a means to force a woman to remain with her children in the same space where the man she married is molesting her children. Molestation breaks the marriage covenant. And once it is broken, that woman needs to leave with her babies or throw out the abuser, not allow him to have access to them so that he keeps damaging them.

The word teaches that any man who fails to provide for his family is worse than an unbeliever and has denied the faith (1 Timothy 5:8). Provision is not limited to a paycheck. It also includes making sure the babies are safe and protected. Provision of safety and molestation are mutually exclusive. Demanding that these babies have to remain in the same household as their abuser so that a marriage stays intact is unbiblical, unloving, and scripturally indefensible - those who know the right thing to do but who fail to do it, sin (James 4:17) .The right thing for the mother to do is cut off any access the molester has to these children; that could means she and the kids leave, or it could be that she gets a restraining order and the abuser has to leave. The Bible never teaches divorce once married. This is not the first time Bishop been wrong. He preaches God calls women to preach. You can’t find that in the Bible either. And when Joel said your sons and daughters shall prophesy that does not mean called to preach. Prophesying and preaching are two different things, but not according to the deceivers who want to justify women preachers. They use that scripture and disregard all the other scriptures like I suffer not a woman to TEACH, nor usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence, or Let the women keep silent in the church, or let the older women TEACH the younger women. I could go on. Bishop Mason was the founder of COGIC church and he stood on the word of God and preached against divorce and women preachers. This is not the old church and holiness.
You need to look at the context surrounding divorce in the bible .I’ve noticed that every single comment here that is saying something similar to what you are saying is being said by a man. And I think that is very significant. For this to be your response when what is being discussed is abuse is very interesting. So you are basically saying that God loves the marriage covenant more than those who are in it. this mentality is the reason why many believe in women have even died in terrible abusive marriages and children have suffered. There was a Nigerian gospel singer called Osinachi. her husband was a pastor constantly abused her. When she was asked by people why she wouldn’t leave and take her kids, she kept saying God hates divorce and that she was praying for her husband to change.Well, guess what, she is now 6 feet under the ground as her husband beat her to death. God gives us wisdom, and I don’t believe it is wisdom for someone to remain in an abusive relationship that is affecting both them and their kids.
@@marlyb176Amen! Our Heavenly Father is also merciful. There is no one who can make me believe that the loving and gracious God I serve would want me, His daughter, to remain in a marriage where a man is harming me physically and emotionally. Marriage vows clearly state “to love and to cherish.”
There is zero cherishing in abuse. That is bondage. From the Biblical perspective, husbands are commanded to love their wives the way Christ loves the church and gave His life for it. There is no sacrificial selfless love in a man abusing his wife.
She has the right to separate, but not divorce GOD hates divorce preach the word the way it’s written, not your feelings!
Jesus said you can divorce for adultery. Having a sexual relationship with someone outside your marriage is cheating! He did stick to the scripture!
Use righteous judgement. If he’s molesting the Child, I’m pretty sure God isn’t going to condemn the mother/wife for leaving.
You need biblical knowledge and not your own understanding of the word. This statement clearly shows .Praying for you.
