I think it’s better that it’s a featured rather than a limited to put less stress on our currency. While we had 3 banners for FF9 the last two were single character so the count of 4 weapons and outfits in total remains the same. I can easily skip this one because I have water down elsewhere like you said and I like this after having spent quite a bit for MH.
Oh, and thank you for your perspective. It made it easier for me to decide to skip this one. I definitely want it, but it’s better to save for Vincent I hope ✌🏼
Yooo Nite! So a couple things to point out. First of all, the reason we had two banners instead if 3 for this MH crossover is supposedly bc Applibot didn’t like how they split the FF9 crossover into 3 banners. Tomrom from the discord said it was mentioned on their livestream I think. But basically, we’ve had the same amount of costumes as we did for FF9 but they consolidated the banners! Also there is something I wanna point out that you didn’t mention. Glenn’s new weapon is 3 ATB! So while the damage is low it’s still a 2-in-1 PDEF debuff and Water Breach, for 3 ATB! Verrrry good weapon that’s wishlist material if you use Glenn! Last thing I’ll say. If you’re a Sephiroth main, this is honestly a good pickup! I’d even argue that if you got Kuja Blade (my biggest regret not pulling for 1 copy) then this costume has increased value!! You run Tempest in your main hand + Kuja Blade in your secondary and you have a very strong sub support/DPS combo! I almost guarantee you when we get Ramuh EX this combination will be top tier to clear it. Aesthetically, I love the top half but not a fan of the bottom half (the boots are cool tho)
Didn't know about the first stuff, but it doesn't change my opinion. I think it's bad form to come out with a non-crossover banner while in the middle of a crossover. I mean, in 9 months this is only the second crossover, so these are supposed to be a big deal. Putting out a banner that isn't related during this time is stealing spotlight. I think this could be handled better. Ahhh yes, 3 atb is seriously good! I did forget this, and the weapon is solid if you have the LB weapon, which I do not. Downside for Glenn atm is that this weapon is half useless for those who did not pull his LB weapon. But I agree, if you're a Glenner, this is a must wishlist. And I totally agree that this is a great costume for seph. But I don't place it as high as you seem to. I have never regretted not pulling Kuja's (different strokes lol) and I doubt I regret not getting this one. The devs split seph so hard on his kits that its a bit confusing as to how to build him, so I find myself using him less and less. I think this is a solid costume, but I just wish it were on a different character.
I feel it depends on your perspective, F2P have to make a choice between limited and non limited. As someone who got all the collaboration weapons to OB10 the last thing I want to see are more limited weapons (until anniversary) It does feel like a filler banner but I grabbed both to help out during crash
Just got ob1 kamura and costume and out. Saved 106k now, planning to pull 1 summer costume and Vincent, saving 80k for anniversary. Got glens water axe to ob7 so this new weapon is a must have for me. My only limited weapon I got above ob6. Not gonna make same mistake chasing ff9 cloud and tifa, limited dps weapons must be ob6 above or total waste. But utility weapons like kuja blade and kamura wand are safer investments that are good enough at ob1, they don’t get power creep easily.
Seph looks interesting but if only pulling to the costume I’ll walk away with his weapon at OB0, maybe OB1 max if I’m lucky. Pulling deep on a non limited banner isn’t great, so I’ll basically have it at that state for 3-4 months until the next crossover/ anniversary where I have a chance to wishlist it more. I know low ob utility weapons can still work, but In the time it takes to get it higher I likely won’t use the weapon at all on him since his stats would be so much lower than the rest of my team rocking ob6-10 weapons, and I’ll likely have already used silver collar or black whiskers to get through ramuh ex2. Ramuhs big mechanic during the existing fights was to ramp up his pdef when summoning the sparks, and I expect that to happen more often in the ex fights. so while Seph decreasing water resist will be good, you’ll still need something to take care of all that pdef if using a physical team, which is where black whiskers and twinkling star will come in. It Could be a good long term investment for him to be a main water dps, but with the way the fan favorite characters keep getting all the limited gear, I’ll just plan to pull a physical ability arcanum costume for Seph down the road whenever he gets one to use with this weapon. A 20% difference in bonus at first glance, but it’s really closer to a 10% difference on high end builds when also factoring in rank 7 phys ability potency and rank 7 boost elemental potency. Admittedly it could take another 3-12 months or longer before he gets a costume like that if at all, but I know it’ll at least be 3-6 months before I get any use out of his new weapon based on what I already have if I pull it now at OB0-1. They need to add some additional stamp rewards to make pulling on non limited banners more appealing.
Much of this is exactly how I feel. I think I have what I need for water dmg atm to get by and I just think it's a bit of a risk as to whether Seph gets more support for water.
F2P here, I'm saving, got 100k blue crystals. I did pull for kamura costume and weapon for Aerith but only the first by page and 2 copies of the weapon. However, I am regretting a little now on the limit which I didn't pull at all ....
This is a skip for me. Great callout on the potency increase when comparing Sephiroth’s and Cait’s weapons. It’s also an increase compared to Zack’s ice arcanum weapon, which has the same potency as the Cait weapon. If Sephiroth’s weapon boosted his own water potency instead of applying a water imperil, I might have considered pulling. However, as it stands, I’d rather get a weapon fully focused on damage and have a different character apply the imperil, versus having Sephiroth’s potency penalized because he also applies an imperil. I may be overthinking it though, as this allows the two remaining party members to lower PDEF and raise Sephiroth’s PATK. Hard to get all three effects going at once from only two characters, so maybe this isn’t bad? I dunno man lol. It’s an arcanum, so that has to be factored in as well 🤷♂️ I’m just gonna think about this later 😂
I fully agree with this sentiment about debuffing with a dmg dealer. It's why seph's fire weapon that does the fire breach always feels awkward for me. I don't use it nearly as much bc of that, despite it being super good.
My take is Seph's weapon is prioritized as support so other water DPS can benefit from doing more damage. At the same time, Seph would be doing good damage as well. At OB6, 620% but OB10, only 700% so a very small jump, so it won't be worthwhile to OB10. But at OB6, water resistance debuff is at high, so that 620% is more like 800% damage. Water Cloud with a mastery with OB10 Maritime does 750%, and I've seen big numbers from coop. Seph will still do big damage but not crazy damage like LB Water Glenn.

If the spreadsheet/character builder I saw in the unofficial Discord is correct, a high elemental resistance down debuff adds a whopping 50% damage. 50%! That brings this Sephiroth weapon to 1050% and Cloud to 1125%. Not all that different, and Cloud could even bring PDEF down and another character brings PATK up. That would make this weapon pretty damn good. I’m really torn now 😬
@jace743 sounds like you have Water Cloud. With Water Seph, you would demolish water weak enemies. No water materia? No problem. Here's two water arcanum and mastery DPS! It might be a bit overkill, though. Save blue crystals for an element or physical/magic version that you don't have.
I got LB Glenn, so I want a copy of each weapon just to have build options for all the various characters (even if subpar), but going to try real hard to save from here for Anniversary. I have a burning desire to finally OB10 a strong limited weapon instead of stopping/running out at OB6.
Got SEphiroth for every other element, sadly this is the first one I skip I have Zacks sword past OB6 and Lucia's gun at OB6, the best thing for physical water (ramuh) is better off with Zack's since he uses defense up. Just want a new physical water DPS to replace Lucia whereupon her gun will get demoted to sub weapno.
Yeah, I think the featured banners are for “Stan’s” of certain characters, and for new players. If you’re just joining the game, here’s a shot a building a Water Arcanum, you know? But yeah, to your point if you’re a Day 1 player.. you more than likely have an alternative and can skip this. I have Glenn’s LB costume and weapon OB4. His weapon here compliments that super well, but it being wishlistable makes it easy to forgo.
I really like these imperil weapons (like this and zacks ice one) with the arcanum but it's a skip for me since I rolled on the monster hunter event. I have 105k crystals left at the moment but need to save for anniversary. Even if it ended up not being what I wanted I could use the crystals later. Ideally I really want to save for anniversary and would want to skip a banner or two to stay at high crystals. So far this is a skip, Vincent is 50/50 (happy to wait for future banners if needed) but summer is probably going to include 3 or 4 banners so if I'm honest I'm more than likely going to get drawn in there. I am building Yuffie (my main for wind and earth) and Lucia I have an OB10 mad minute so I'm really hoping they cut the magic damage stuff and give her a hard hitting physical damage weapon for a change.
MH event has about 12 days left with nothing new to do 🫤 I'm at 80k crystals, I have not pulled on MH banner at all. Saving for a limit break banners I think, would be great to boost my Zack and Sephiroth weapons from the last limit break (assuming you can wishlist them)
It was stated in the last LB banner that all LB weapons will be wishlistable on future LB banners. So fear not, you’ll be able to get more copies during the anniversary 😄
I’m gonna wait for Vincent and Anniversary banners but man, my account suffers from not having a single water arcanum costume… As of now, my main “water” unit is Cloud with his Glavenus costume + sword at OB6 and Maritime at OB6 in the main hand. I do have both Bunny and Feathered gloves but only at OB1, so I went for Magic Ice Sephiroth for the Crash event. As the 3rd party member Red XIII with his healing + water breach weapon has been enough so far. Let’s see how I’ll do once the part 2 of the event drops.
I see that they want Glenn, Sephiroth & Aerith for the Ramuh fight….if not Tifa. I love the jacket only. I love the image/look of the weapon. Then you have the next event next month plus summer event plus Vincent plus guilds plus Ramuh plus 1 year. I’m skipping most or lit pulling.
Are you actually upset that we didnt get a third MH banner??? it was the biggest complaint people had for the last crossover that there was too many banners for the amount of stuff to get from it. Also agreed just getting a banner in general is nice, this feels really like a 'Whale Banner'

Good news about this banner is we'll probably be able to gear exchange in the next 6-8 weeks. Will be holding but these drops are great for players who missed out last summer and halloween. March to minimal spend till anniversary continues. Why do I have a terrible feeling they'll rerun ff9 just before then.

there are better DPS water weapons than tempest like glenn’s for physical and bunny tifa for magical, both of them with secondary water potency buff weapons. Seph new weapon is just a slightly stronger green megaphone and since caith sith is a better support character with lots of buff and debuff options I would say seph is not essential in a top water build.
They are shitting with seph so much, seph is my dude but they are ruining him so much, he had to be a mag version for cloud but instead they keeps bs with his kit and give him phys atk and support stuff, very disappointed. I don’t know If he will ever get another water arcanum with magic dmg later but I will just skip this shit even though the skin is good, if they will not I will just cover the element with another char. If the game don’t come where I want I will just not spend my gem, as a light spender I don’t give a f about crash event

I think if someone have Glenn limit break custom and weapon, then this banner weapon is a must for him. I am still ok with Zack and Lucia water builds

I think you have what you need if you want to skip. Water isn't featured nearly as much in bosses as lighting, ice, and fire anyway

saving for summer event 2 costumes. if vincent has amazing new mechanics i will pull some for him maybe. Limit break banners i dunno.... i spent 120k into last limit break banner and im generally not using those weapons and costumes coz they perform poorly. Tho I'm pretty sure the anniversary will bring something more exciting besides limit break banners.

I don’t have a water arcanum/mastery and Seph is in my top 3 but this is a skip. Buff ext on a costume for a dps build is a waste. This is giving bait banner 😬😅

Definitely a skip for me. I have clouds water gear and his weapon is OB 8 for me I believe. Just going to hold out for the Anniversary.

I'm so pissed they released this Seph right after the MH collab. Most of us spent our crystals and then they release this must have Seph build... I refuse to spend money.

@@FF7ECExcalibur If you have good Phys Seph build and you play Seph, it kinda is. Though I do have Black Whiskers so I guess I'm kinda ok. I don't even have Water Mastery summer costume for Cloud, although I do have his Water weapon at max.
This is why we don't burn all our crystals as soon as we see a banner we like, you shouldn't be mad at the devs only yourself.
there are better DPS water weapons than tempest like glenn’s for physical and bunny tifa for magical, both of them with secondary water potency buff weapons. Seph new weapon is just a slightly stronger green megaphone and since caith sith is a better support character with lots of buff and debuff options I would say seph is not essential in a top water build.
They are shitting with seph so much, seph is my dude but they are ruining him so much, he had to be a mag version for cloud but instead they keeps bs with his kit and give him phys atk and support stuff, very disappointed. I don’t know If he will ever get another water arcanum with magic dmg later but I will just skip this shit even though the skin is good, if they will not I will just cover the element with another char. If the game don’t come where I want I will just not spend my gem, as a light spender I don’t give a f about crash event
