I absolutely loved the game. Ironically, the fact you can't customize your whole team helps the tactics, IMO, since you can't just stack the OP classes and have to actually make do with the guys you have and figure out how to use their one specific niche as effectively as possible, even if it's not optimal for the map you're on.
I actually prefer a little bit of customisation despite what you've mentioned though. Just like the previous iterations of this type of game such as the mercenary saga etc., I feel more involved in the tactics this way.

I must say that I really fell in love with the game. it is a chill and slow game with a well build story that i enjoy to follow. I treat it a bit like an interactive show, and some of the active parts can be a bit finicky. However the game is definitely a good introduction to newcomers because you keep all the exp progress even if you loose a battle.
what's an " ab interactive show" , a show where you touch and tap an ab a specific part of the ab?

Decimal is basically a calculator black mage from FFT and I love it. We also get some interesting lore bit via dialogue for him in a certain fight for the golden route.
not just golden route. most of the routes have him having special lines coz 3/4 routes all involve that polity that has 2 units decimal just loves talking to.

Who need class system when you have 30 characters to choose from. It's kinda tedious to have a class system in this game.

It was also a pain in the arse to grind in the original ff tactics.

I must say that, if you are getting bullied into things by the AI more than occasionally, then you probably aren't engaging in the game's systems because you either aren't saying the things that will convince the characters, or you don't have the conviction levels needed to make them believe you.
Yeah, just by walking around and inspecting everything I can before the conversations, I’ve been able to get by enough to have every vote go the way I wanted it. I haven’t always gotten every single character to my side, and once I did have to do a tiebreaker, but it’s really not that hard.
I had wondered why on repeat playthroughs it was easier to get my party to vote with me, I didn't pick up that it was due to increased Convictions, neat!
I can’t believe you didn’t mention the characters’ habit of saying “pray” every other sentence.
Only watched because I'm happy the game has enough clout to get talked about on a channel like this.
Don't listen to the criticisms here. The game is great. If you like the genre, it's up there with the best.
lol most of the criticisms stem from skipping dialogue and being bad as usual
Bravely Default is a really good name. It gets your attention and makes sense when you play it.
Resonant Arc did a awesome discussion on Final Fantasy Tactics that brought up a point that the cutscenes are really short and to the point. I think devs should look at Yasumi Matsunos work and relearn how to direct a story. We don't want to read for an hour.
Yeah, Matsuno really knows how to cut to the core of a narrative, removing the fluff. Loved Resonant Arc's discussion of it!
It's the consumer's fault. People will complain a game is too short so you get filler like fetch quests and overly long dialogue. Developers don't make games that respect the player's time because the player doesn't respect their own time.

There’s just this sun genre of games where it’s a story first and a game second. This is one of those.
Once you beat the game. You can always circle back and replay it while skipping all the scenes. New Game + is even harder, and New Game ++ every enemy is maxed out in every level. I was barely able to survive the prologue in new game ++

You can restart your mission in the middle of a match. Just hit the Y button and go to settings. You have to complete a couple missions to get it.
finished 2 playthroughs with Frederica and true ending, gonna reload and see how Benedict and Roland's play out now

You can restart the battle. If you Surrender you go back to the beginning and can choose your party again.
Barrel-with-eye-holes really needs a crossover with that jar guy from Elden Ring.

when playing octopath i would go months without playing and pick it back up not understanding why i had put it down until i put it down just to repeat the cycle. ill probably do the same with triangle XD

The joke about the restart button not existing is wrong. Hit retreat besides mock battles this option restarts the battle.

It is worth it. The story alone is great, your choices matter and the combat is fun. Music is also great.
@@janmarcoperezbatres2203 If that is how you feel great. Glad you enjoyed it but nothing TS did was original or executed well. The story was a mix of Royal Protagonist and Slavery cliches. Seriously you can erase any character from the story and plot still would hardly change. Your choices don't matter. You can unlock a worthless character or two and there are 3 "bad" endings. However you have to make SPECIFIC choices to get the "true" ending and the game goes on even if you make no choice. The combat is mobile-game quality at best. Each character has one or two useful gimmicks but almost zero customization. Compare that to most SRPG where characters have 3 to 10 different skills. Set skills aside combat boils down to placing 2 characters next to your target and attacking. Again compare that to FE's rock-paper-scissors system or Disgaea's team attack system. Musics ok I guess.

Here I am again, requesting an Ace Combat Honest Trailer. It really isn't much, but it's...Honest work.
Recs in order from most to least trying to imitate old strat-RPGs:
Fell Seal straight-up steals some of the classes and progression from FF Tactics, except the classes are actually balanced this time.
Banner of the Maid is set in low fantasy 18th century France, meaning the magic is all stuff like "really charismatic" instead of "throws fireballs." A bit slow-paced, but there's some intriguing stuff going on.
Fae Tactics is what happens when you want your players to never, ever have to look at a menu during combat. Turns out all you really need is left-click and right-click.

Do Kirby and the forgotten Land next... and do some other older Kirby games too (We allow the trailer to take up to at most 20 minutes if it targets 4 kirby games at once)
Maybe "Terminator: Resistance, just to use the DUN-DUN-DUN DUN-DUN at the begining.
People forget how FFT had all sorts of backstabbing and intrigue but the storytelling and characters were as unengaging as reading a wiki article about the Heptarchy. No wait, those are actually interesting.
The characters you actually got to meet were interesting. The background people that you could only read about in the side reports were the utterly forgettable ones, because they tried to just paint over the real world War of the Roses with different names.

tbh I found the main characters like Ramza forgettable and 1 dimensional as well. The story had potential but it just was not very deep, barely showing events and consequences below the surface, feeling like a summary of the plot rather than the full plot.

Hey, if you want a game with engaging characters and story, you should do an Honest Trailer on any of the games in the "Ace Combat" series.

Actually, Valkyria Chronicles got 3 releases in the US. The first and 4th are PS4. Valkyria Chronicles 2 was released on PSP.

It’s funny that you mention forgetting character names on screen because if they’re a named character, they’ll have an option where you can see their profile that shows their name, portrait, allegiance, and a little bit of text describing them that changes depending on when you view it.
I love just about every team asano game personally, and fire emblem has felt kinda dull for me. Fire Emblem games just have to innovate more in their storytelling and mechanics, and the decision making in TS made following playthroughs much more interesting. I never actually played fft or ogre tactics, so this was a completely new experience for me and the indie games I’ve played like it just don’t cut it.
Is it just me but do you think the name triangle strategy was a place holder as Three houses was taken?
