Affinity staff also brought out the old recoil server Legacy main, when neeko found out he straight away snitched to facepunch as he saw all the old clans were coming back to play and alot of current vital groups werent playing because of it
I haven't touched games in years, although I recall playing in the same server as DOT, ZZZ, 5K, Ich Bin and a few notable others. My clan "tL" (Formerly OYL), got the rest of the main clans on the server to agree to a strict rule of only having 8-man roams, this lasted for months and was a generally respected rule... except for DOT. They were the only group that could not respect every other clan's agreements, my only memories of DOT are of negativity and immaturity. I just stumbled upon this video and it reminded me of all those times playing Rust. Don't know if anyone will see this, hopefully, everyone I played with and against over the years has grown to live fulfilling lives, I only wish the best for y'all. My name was ricky, founder of tL. P.S. If anyone recalls TC Wars, I started that, but unfortunately, I was immature at the time and burned some bridges, and Navyblue (I think that was his name?) took over. Is TC Wars still a thing anymore? I believe Jack Shepard was there at the beginning as well, we had some calls. Anyways, it was fun, I have touched video games in a while just nice to reminisce, and would be cool if anyone in this comment section recognized me haha! Cheers!
Hey Rocky! I do remember you. Feel free to hit me up at Jack Shephard#0001 , I just spoke to Proxy the other day. We're actually do a documentary and high school reunion per say with the entire clan scene would love to have you come reconnect with us.
Honestly, Kinn was a real piece of shit - but it doesn't seem right that FP blacklisted his server permanently (by blocking the IP), if people want to play on a piece of shit server with him it's their choice since they bought the game. This would be like if Minecraft permanently blocked 2B2T (which has had FAR worse controversies, involving real crime that has resulted in people going to prison). Frankly, seems like FP just got butthurt that Kinn defied them and wanted to make an example, blocking him from the server list was understandable as a server like that would negatively affect FP's reputation, but the permanent IP blacklist is just overkill and stupid. If FP wouldn't have done that Kinn would've kept playing, slowly got bored and probably not caused any serious problems to anyone, now they created someone who has a vendetta, and someone with a vendetta can very quickly become dangerous and unstoppable. 10/10 great video, would watch again!
Something I want to add to this, FP would rather add an extra DNS lookup and list check (slowing all of us down when we join a server) to ban a rust server that offended them then optimize their game (something the rust community has desperately needed for years)
I don't know Kinn guy but I hope he gets what he deserves. You're supposed to be free on internet, no one is getting harmed and just because he trashtalks you're shutting his servers down? That's some soyboy shit.
@@cornbread4297 Nothing is wrong with anyone behavior on the internet as along as it does not hurt you in IRL mate, that why you should take rule 1 of the internet as something to follow. @@haden67832 slurs yes, ddosing and getting banned never happen with me. Learn to grow the fuck up on the internet mate rule 1 is there for a reason if it was IRL then the slure would be a problem but its not also I don't agree with ddosing and hacking.
Ehhh, I don’t care about this guy, never heard of him before, but for some reason my brain rambled through the thoughts below, hope it’s at least interesting: Griefing and being toxic in Rust is just part of the game… AS LONG AS IT STAYS IN GAME. The moment it involves cheats, threats, harassment outside of the game and worse, it’s no longer a game. And when it’s no longer a game, it’s no longer fun. Cheats are stuff outside the game you use for an unfair advantage in the game, so that falls under “crossing the line” as I described above. If Facepunch built in cheats into their game that would be one thing, but they don’t, so cheats are not a part of Rust and do not make the game fun if someone uses them. If Kinn had kept his toxic arse ONLY to in-game toxicity, he’d still be around and having fun, and Affinity wouldn’t have been taken down. Kinn shot himself in the foot for having his IRL toxicity get in the way of the good things he did and could have done for the community. By bringing outside drama into Rust, it was no longer fun, and when he got shut down for ruining the game for everyone and having Affinity his legacy similarly ruined, he just kept on raging and spewing toxic hatred. Having no filter isn’t a problem, as long as everyone expects there to be no filter. In a game space, you can set up rules like that, so only people looking for that experience can get it. If special snowflakes who can’t handle toxicity stumble into Affinity, for example, they only have themselves to blame for being upset at the toxicity on the server… AS LONG AS IT DOESN’T BLEED OVER INTO IRL SHITE. The moment that line is crossed into IRL, it’s no longer a game, and shit gets real.
I remember when I was trying to be an admin for rusticated servers that I might have to run into some people like kinn. Those admins seemed to have known this stuff pretty well as I believe he was permanently banned on those servers on top of the current list.
Exactly! I understand kinn getting banned from other servers, they don't want toxicity. Banning kinn's community from their own servers was too far, it is just bullying at that point and their server was quarantining the toxic people to their server anyway. It was a legit turnaround for a toxic player and they decided to ruin it.
most servers like affinity now use all of the clan "activities" he created. he was the stereotype rust clan leader that made a plethora of mistakes that built up.
Long live Affinity, FP was so wrong in blacklisting the server. As much as people hate him, Kinn changed the main scene, the community, and lots of other things. He'll never admit it again, but to have the game you've played for so long, loved, and probably grew up on, blow up in his face like it did, has gotta hurt. As fucked up in the head as Kinn might be from rust, dude is human.
you kinn kids show him more empathy than he ever showed anyone else. Maybe he will learn from this and go to a new game as a better person, but he just appears to be a narcissist...
Haha good to see you man. It seems like yesterday we were trolling discord calls. Always loved your graphics for the interview streams. Hope you've been well, feel free to join discord if you ever want to catch up.
Neeko spent months gathering dirt on His competition and get him banned so he could steal his users and his money? and Neeko is the "good guy?" of this story?
I think this shows how humans actually are. There are no absolutes as in someone who is 100% a good person or the opposite. We're just a person with many facets to our traits. Looks like Kinn can show compassion and willingness to help the community, but you cannot deny that his toxic, ddos, doxing actions can't really be justified either
Pretty much every person who is a 'bad guy' has times when they are nice. That actually makes them all the more dangerous, since they can fly into harmful abusive behavior at people who don't expect it, or they can use their 'good side' to manipulate people. There's no excuse at all for what he did. Good riddance.
@@IamSpacedad yea im sick of all these toxic assholes being given lead way on being a awful just because they sprinkle in some good deeds here and there. Its textbook manipulation. They dont show any mercy to whoever they are doxxing or ddos'ing for whatever manchild reason they have so no mercy should be given to them.
kinn was one of the most genuine server owners, the reason he got so angry is because he actually CARED about his servers and the people playing them, EVERY OTHER SERVER only cares about the money, kinn genuinely cared about the game and his community
kinn was super immature at the beginning but you could see significant improvement over the years and when he owned his own rust server most of the (concerning) toxic behavior was gone, he did great things for the rust scene and his servers shouldnt have been banned
This video brought back so many good and bad memories, Throughtout my time playing affinity since it was basically released, I feel as he did the best to strive to make his server more enjoyable and perform better and yes this vid did sum up the bad things and good things and I feel as you either got to hate him or love him but he provided a fun environment to play on even if it did get bad sometimes.
I feel that facepunch went beyond just moderating here though. I understand that kinn was an objectively bad person during his player days, but when he became a server owner he wasn't doing anything wrong at that point. It feels like facepunch let a personal vendetta lead them to cracking down on their own community. Why should a facepunch employee get to tell a server owner random grenade throwing is wrong? It seems like corporate tyranny at that point, just let people have fun. I support him getting banned on other servers for being toxic, but ruining his server that didn't do anything and was legitimately nice to the community is just evil.
I'm sure his toxicity and playstyle were something Facepunch didnt like but you cant ban someone and their community for just playing thebway they want to. And they were on their own server. Punishment was a bit too harsh.
Clearly it’s something they can do because they did it. Lol I think it was completely warranted. I’m happy to see a developer try to curve the worst part of the community.
toxic personality does not equal to no good heart or bad leadership, there's no all bad or all good, they right about kinn's toxic behavior, the actions fp took is to protect game enviorment which is right, if affinity shut doors and form a closed up community and do right things with beef there's no way they aren't on top rn.
Am I missing something? I feel like we all watched the same video but only half listened. By the way this is presented Kinn was definitely not a cup of tea. From what I understand he didn't make the ddos/dns threats till after his server was being attacked? While I understand the distain for cheating how many avenues does he really have to influence the game for revenge. I also don't see anywhere that Kinn made personal attacks to their actual lives like they did to him.
Yeah it's definitely down the middle for viewer responses, good observation there. I purposefully tried to keep my bias neutral so viewers can think and decide for themselves on KiNN and if he was truly a bad or good character.
"Was he a bad guy?" Yes. His response to being told that he's not wanted was to lash out and try to destroy the game for other people. If everything described in this video is accurate, he's actually pretty awful. Even if he considers the things he was doing an "act" that still shows that he's willing to do awful things to people for the sake of entertaining his personal group.
kinn was a genius. He gained power through what some may say was evil but he turned his anger and hatred into passion and glory and was the most memorable server owner the game has ever seen.
Your acting like he’s some mastermind who carefully schemed this when he’s actually just a asshole over his head with a massive ego who acts half his age
HOW IN TARNATION IS THIS SO SMALL i was watching this thinking its some kinda 500k rust yt documenter but NAH ITS JS SOME GUY MAKING GOLD CONTENT goodluck in yo endeavors, kinda content from someone like blooprint ngl
If only Kinn chilled the f out once he got the servers running and kept his admins in check... You can't expect a game dev to let toxicity and profanities running rampant, it's bad for business...
Pretty cringe they blacklisted his server, but it’s even more cringe to “gather evidence” to whine to the developer. Just don’t play on his server like what’s the issue lmao
Great script. Great storytelling. If I nothing about Rust this would still be entertaining. Conclusion was a bit lacking in my opinion but overall great video.
I always look forward to your videos, because they are interesting and keep me up to speed with gaming and the endings of your videos with the Zelda theme always makes me feel nostalgic
Kinn didnt do the greatest things in the first part of his career but then managed to pay it back and then got attacked i personally believe he is innocent and should be unbanned and forgiven
was a good video. loved how melow it was. but persnaly from me who was on the receaving end of kinn i never ever have and will see him as postive. he was a terable person who acted like a kid in a mans body. good to see him go and the comunity of rust becoming some what more postive instead of filled with toxic lumps of shit. part of the reason why fokes say the game is starting to die. cant wait to see any next videos.
Bro what is up with the spelling lmao You weren't on the recieving end of anything you made skins for atlas, no? Kind of weird to say you were on the receiving end of it.
From dealing with some of his former staff and hearing stories from behind the scenes that havent even made it into this video, you only really scratched the surface, kinn had such a blurred reality of what was going on in the clan scene, thinking everything and everyone was out to get him, the truth is the clan scene is just a fucking cesspool of some of the worst gaming has ever had to offer and kinn was the spearhead for it.
Yeah I do agree, I tried to leave it up to the viewer to make an opinion. There's a lot of claims out there and the last thing I wanted to do was to make accusations, if I couldn't justify them with evidence. Great insight though!
Finally a comment that makes sense - the clan scene has always been a gutter of unbridled toxicity dominated by prepubescent teens and now they're upset because they can't be massive pieces of shit without no repercussions. As for the last question, the dude is objectively a bad guy, there's no two ways of looking at it, he's a man child that got way too much power
It's ironic seeing facepunch act out against someone when facepunch themselves has a history of being admin abusers and overrall general toxicity, Garry Newman being the biggest manchild of them all.

Which is why he ultimately got in trouble at the end, if he wasn't in a position of power, I think he would still be playing Rust to this day, since a lot of people act like KiNN in Rust if not worst.
Also the progression of cancel culture has become a lot more prominent over 2020's then it was in the 2010's.
@codex5080Jesus Christ, is your entire life goal to rant? That rant you just went on literally showed that cancel culture is a lot more prominent now... you're clearly a part of it.
@codex5080our wall of text reminds me of that meme "not reading that but happy for you/sorry to hear that tho"
Kinn was like "You got yourself a villain, just because you want one" type of guy, you guys will never knew about him, until u meet him directly.
No matter how you put it, Kinn always had represented the average rust clan member, while others may not act or do things Kinn did, that does not mean they have no intentions to do so and most put up an act to seem better.
watched this all the way through and still didn't even notice this was from a youtuber with under 1000 subscribers instead of a big youtuber, great job bro

and that's why i'll never play vital again, xD fucking snitch lol

Something I want to add to this, FP would rather add an extra DNS lookup and list check (slowing all of us down when we join a server) to ban a rust server that offended them then optimize their game (something the rust community has desperately needed for years)
You think fp care that much tho? Half the tweets their dev team makes on Twitter make fun of the community or are just pisstake tweets 💀
@@RevRust They cared enough to add code specifically to blacklist him, which takes time and a marginal amount of effort.
I feel like it would have been better personally to keep all these people on this server instead of spilling out into the rest of the game.
I don't know Kinn guy but I hope he gets what he deserves. You're supposed to be free on internet, no one is getting harmed and just because he trashtalks you're shutting his servers down? That's some soyboy shit.
Bro is the embodiment of the nerd emoji holy
Bro I watched and Played rust for about 6 Years now and I'v never heard of this dude
not letting people connect via IP on a hidden server is a bit much at that point its really no ones business
As a past Affinity staff member, I feel KiNN always had a good heart despite his actions.
Tf does this mean dude he’s obviously not a kind hearted person if this is how he is acting
@@cornbread4297 Nothing is wrong with anyone behavior on the internet as along as it does not hurt you in IRL mate, that why you should take rule 1 of the internet as something to follow. That being said only thing I don't like he did is DDOS attacks, Doxing and selling of cheats and approving of cheats.
Lol
Bro we all know both you and him were throwing slurs, ddosing and other bad things for rust. Stay banned
@@haden67832 slurs yes, ddosing and getting banned never happen with me. Learn to grow the fuck up on the internet mate rule 1 is there for a reason if it was IRL then the slure would be a problem but its not also I don't agree with ddosing and hacking.
Ehhh, I don’t care about this guy, never heard of him before, but for some reason my brain rambled through the thoughts below, hope it’s at least interesting:
Griefing and being toxic in Rust is just part of the game… AS LONG AS IT STAYS IN GAME.
This is insane quality keep up the work!
doxing and ddosing should be arrestable offences with prison charges but the other things about just not having a filter isnt really that bad
He wasn’t the villain we wanted but it was the villain we needed
amazing vid as a kinda new (currently in hiatus clan member) in vital never knew this story. keep up the great story focused videos
I remember when I was trying to be an admin for rusticated servers that I might have to run into some people like kinn. Those admins seemed to have known this stuff pretty well as I believe he was permanently banned on those servers on top of the current list.
Rust players supporting a manchild is really not surprising at all
I'm sorry if mojang allowed 2b2t to still exist there's no need for face punch to ban his server
Exactly!
I understand kinn getting banned from other servers, they don't want toxicity.
Banning kinn's community from their own servers was too far, it is just bullying at that point and their server was quarantining the toxic people to their server anyway.
It was a legit turnaround for a toxic player and they decided to ruin it.
2bt2s owner never actively threatened DDOS attacks on other people
@Resentfuldragon don't ddos people / dox people and maybe you won't get specifically targeted for blacklist?
What has 2b2t ever done that would have gotten them banned?
most servers like affinity now use all of the clan "activities" he created. he was the stereotype rust clan leader that made a plethora of mistakes that built up.
hes got the mindset of a grinder and i respect that
well made video nice to see the old main scene get some attention
Long live Affinity, FP was so wrong in blacklisting the server. As much as people hate him, Kinn changed the main scene, the community, and lots of other things. He'll never admit it again, but to have the game you've played for so long, loved, and probably grew up on, blow up in his face like it did, has gotta hurt. As fucked up in the head as Kinn might be from rust, dude is human.
@@KinnaevoLu have a lot of new support it looks like

Sounds like a complete bellend.
U blow
Neeko spent months gathering dirt on His competition and get him banned so he could steal his users and his money? and Neeko is the "good guy?" of this story?
Very well editied and visual clips.
The guy really lost it, i remember the podcast when he completely just lost his marbles and declared he was selling cheats. Good/bad times
iv always felt bad for kids who think Rust is a competitive game
bro legit changed rust and got banned for it. bring back affinity fr.
"21-23 year old yet act like a 9 year old"
Thats everyone in rust
kinn was one of the most genuine server owners, the reason he got so angry is because he actually CARED about his servers and the people playing them, EVERY OTHER SERVER only cares about the money, kinn genuinely cared about the game and his community
Hope you're doing well Calloused :)
only 6k subs!? that is criminal you need way more attention quality content mate keep it up
i cant help but admire his motivation he gets shit done fp to him
this was crazy holy you deserver more man
Kinn Is The Best Server Owner Out Of Neeko And Louis
Kinn was W server owner only fun clan server
Average rust player
His exit though, he wasn't just banned from a game, they took his business and livelihood.
They took his jerb
kinn was super immature at the beginning but you could see significant improvement over the years and when he owned his own rust server most of the (concerning) toxic behavior was gone, he did great things for the rust scene and his servers shouldnt have been banned
i love your SunnyV2 style content keep it up.
@@resentfuldragon i agree with you
Love the RuneScape music in the background in the beginning
I'm sure his toxicity and playstyle were something Facepunch didnt like but you cant ban someone and their community for just playing thebway they want to. And they were on their own server. Punishment was a bit too harsh.
Clearly it’s something they can do because they did it. Lol I think it was completely warranted. I’m happy to see a developer try to curve the worst part of the community.
Gotta love these videos about someone I've never heard of, because I know my expectations are low to begin with
toxic personality does not equal to no good heart or bad leadership, there's no all bad or all good, they right about kinn's toxic behavior, the actions fp took is to protect game enviorment which is right, if affinity shut doors and form a closed up community and do right things with beef there's no way they aren't on top rn.
"Was he a bad guy?"
Yes. His response to being told that he's not wanted was to lash out and try to destroy the game for other people. If everything described in this video is accurate, he's actually pretty awful. Even if he considers the things he was doing an "act" that still shows that he's willing to do awful things to people for the sake of entertaining his personal group.
Ma'am calm down, it's just a game
@@therooster1339 being an asshole in a game is still being an asshole.
kinn was a genius. He gained power through what some may say was evil but he turned his anger and hatred into passion and glory and was the most memorable server owner the game has ever seen.

If only Kinn chilled the f out once he got the servers running and kept his admins in check...
You can't expect a game dev to let toxicity and profanities running rampant, it's bad for business...
Yeah a lot of people tried to help him out, but he really dropped the ball on that.
It’s always the runescape music that lets me know the documentary is about to be fire

The Loathsome Dung Eater of Rust.
Kinn did nothing wrong
@@JackShephardTV Was a very well made video and i do applaud
Finally a comment that makes sense - the clan scene has always been a gutter of unbridled toxicity dominated by prepubescent teens and now they're upset because they can't be massive pieces of shit without no repercussions. As for the last question, the dude is objectively a bad guy, there's no two ways of looking at it, he's a man child that got way too much power
Sad but true
2015 player, didnt know much about main scene though back then, good story telling
It's ironic seeing facepunch act out against someone when facepunch themselves has a history of being admin abusers and overrall general toxicity, Garry Newman being the biggest manchild of them all.
