For me, the interpretation of this theme is sensational. When Marty takes the book and puts it in the bucket at that moment you notice and feel that the ambition he had led to this disaster, contemplating how dangerous it can be that the future is changed by the wrong hands. And above all this part 1:18 when Marty sees the newspaper gives a feeling of nostalgia, overcoming or that everything has gone well.
And seeing it for the first time, you don't quite know what's going to happen or if burning the book will change the future, there's still a chance something could go wrong, etc....at :52 despite all the conflicts & failures up to this point, there's a hint that triumph is ahead...and at 1:20 it's confirmed. The way it syncs together is so beautiful!

Well in Bttf this score was played minutes before he went back to 1985. In Bttf 2, they burned the book outside Marty's future neighborhood which according to the first movie is 2 miles from the town square. So there"s no way they match at all unless Marty is the Flash.

What you don't notice until later, is that this music is almost identical to the first part of the clock tower theme. Very clever writing, because at the same time as the book was being burnt, Marty was preparing to go back to the future.

I see everyone talking about 1:18, but for me the key moment was always the less pronounced bit from 0:54 to 0:59 where the Almanac begins to burn. It's like that part in other films when the villain finally dies. The damage they caused might not be fixed quite yet, but you know it will be. It's honestly pretty great how this trilogy manages to turn inanimate objects into characters. For as much as the Almanac may just be a book, it feels like more of a villain than Biff ever did. Separate the two, and the Almanac is the one that stays dangerous.
In my mind, when I think of Ronald Reagan I hear this theme beginning at 0:54. Probably because his name was in the “good timeline” newspaper as running for a second term rather than Nixon running for a fifth term.
