What I find weird is that one would think the Venus flytrap would originate in some tropical exotic place. They're actually native to the wetlands of North and South Carolina.
I loooove my carnivorous garden. Several species of venus fly trap, quite a few pitcher plants...some butterworts, and my personal favorite...the Sundews and droseras.

You can feed them raw hamburger.
Too much fat. Can damage or kill that trap. If not an insect then cooked egg whites are good.

Thanks. I haven't looked after a Venus flytrap since I was an eight year old. Coolest plant in the house!👍

That is a large variety developed by breeders and there are several odd looking varieties too.
Really shouldnt do that! You should feed it now, the energy the plant used to close now has been wasted
