The honor of having it " Nick Approved" is awesome!
Haha. Thank you!
We need a t-shirt with a Hemi-powered car doing a burnout with the words: NICK APPROVED!
"I said I'd take it easy
I lied."
😂
The best line!
...great to put it through its paces, and if the master breaks it, he's likely fix it too!....
Notice the smile on Robert's face when Nick said he'd "take it easy" in the GTX.
😃
Dr. Nick, 1st thanks for the reply to my email, I had a 1967 GTX Hemi 4 speed, and this video gave me a flashback to driving my GTX, thank for the ride, cheers.
Right on!
You owned one of the best of them, in my opinion.
@@kevinbrucestevens7747 thanks.
My favorite B body. I own a 66 Caprice 2 dr Sport Coupe. It’s a numbers matching 396, TH400 12 bolt. All original, 96,000 miles. Original cam etc. Engine has never been apart. I can get in and drive anywhere. That red convertible is gorgeous. 👍
Nice taste!
I had a 66 Impala SS 396, Dark Blue. 66 was a very good year! I’m glad you still get to enjoy it.😎
Mon and Dad. Had a 66 Impala 4 door. 327 with 350 heads and a 4 - barrel. Drove it to school my senior year of High school. Couldn't keep my foot out of the 4-barrel. Gas was cheap. Dad put a 3.55 gear out back. Great gravel road cruiser. Shawn.
Back in the late 70's....
My buddy had a 396 Caprice
Wagon...
Wood grain..Metalic mint Green........
Cragers and Air Shocks...
Lol.....😂
Used to Call It LURCH...
My parents had a '66 Caprice 396 2dr. It was our family car. I was 3 when we got it!!
When Robert and Manny are on the job, you know it will be fixed right! You have a great crew there!
Used to race a 69 Super Bee. We had no shop. Just a gravel driveway. Feel bad for all of the old molars we robbed the 440 s and 727 s out of. We had a 68 Chrysler wagon. Ful loaded. That was out tow vehicle. The old wagon would run low 14 s in the Qt )
Best muscle car show on UA-cam! 🇨🇦
I 💯 pre cent agree with you
Thank you!
"Are we going to push it? No were not going to push it"... Famous last words! lol
A great benefit to your profession is you get paid to test drive a bunch of fantastic muscle cars that are in good running condition. I have personally experienced many Mopars but still today I have never personally seen nor driven the Hemi GTX.
FYI
If Nick were peeling out in my Hemi on T.V. (UA-cam) I'd call him on the phone and insist he peels the wheels till they pop!
Love the show!
Well said!
Good afternoon Nick & George, It looks like a beautiful day to go out and test drive two iconic cars from the 60's. A beautiful 66 Impala, and a 68 Hemi GTX. Nick, I know that you have been waiting for some nice weather, so now go drive them like you stole them, lol. Nick's Garage is a great place to send a little time on a Monday afternoon. The best car channel on UA-cam hands down!!!
Thanks Eugene. If we’re the best it’s because our viewers (like you) are the best. ❤️
@@NicksGarage Thank you George. I'll bet there are at least 270K people who agree with me!
G'day Eugene,
I agree that's my line " Drive it like you stole it "
@@louiskats5116 Right you are Louis! Nick always drives them like he just stole it. 🏁
Nick kickin' it, Robert grinnin' ear to ear. We would cut class in high school and take turns in each other's cars burning rubber & bangin' gears around town. A few of my friends sometimes went to Mr. Norm's Grand Spaulding Dodge and test drove cars during school hours. Nick & Robert's smiles & laughter brought back the memories.
Nick torqued the Impala up a bit and then you got the Nick Haaaa ha seal of approval!!!!!!!
Love it!!!!!
When the auto industry built real cars . The industry has gone backwards since the 70s . 🇨🇦👍🏻🇦🇺.
Hello Nick and everyone, love that GTX, brings back memories. My grandparents lived two blocks from the Plymouth dealership in town. My brother and I would walk up and check out the showroom. Filled with Cuda's, Road Runners and GTX's in the late 60's and early 70's. Sox and Martin would come there and show off their pro-stocks, that is still in my head, awesome time to be a kid. I have a 2015 Challenger I bought new, so my youth continues on. Thanks Nick, George and everyone for this great YT channel................................Jeff Thompson Rockford Illinois
Like the man said “ I knew you couldn’t resist “ well Nick I couldn’t either! All the power it’s hard not too! Great camera work George!
Yes! Thank you!
Before I watch this video I want to say I appreciate all these videos you give us every week they are really good I love watching you work on the engines thank you Mr Nick and crew❤
Wait till Jean sees the new rear Slicks you installed, eh... At 19:11 - That's a Patented Hemi Smile Robert is wearing there... and those Elephant exhaust sound-shots weren't long enough. Mighty envious, Nick ;)
Watching this episode with a big smile on my face.
Its nice to see a musclecar be driven the correct way.
A burnout always bring smiles
Have a awesome Mopar day
Regards from a warm south of Sweden🇸🇪. 22 degrees Celsius ( 72 F ) beautiful spring day.
Im going to a musclecar meet this afternoon with one of my cars. Plymouth cuda 1970
Next saturday 25th of May is a big car meet both 50-60s and a bunch of Mopars. There were over 3000 cars last year.
Take care Nick and the team
/Fredrik
Dana "60" Glass. Absolutely great test drives with the now big block Impala, and HEMI GTX. I wonder how many folks realized that there was no "beep beep" when you hit the horn. In '68, the GTX was still the upscale Belvedere Satellite, not a Roadrunner. Super camera work George! Can't wait to see more road tests now that you have warmer weather.
Would love to see a rick mudge inspired 4.0 amc on the dyno hitting 10k rpm! Vvrrroooom!!!
...............G'day Nick,
born in '40s licensed in '50s, now in my 80s. Ridden big bikes all my life, and still doing it. Love the channel.
Cheers and God bless,
Malcolm.
I love the land yachts!
My first car was a 73 Pontiac Catalina 4 door and it was lovely to me! It had the same 400 as in the G.T.O. a little less h.p. but it cruised nice and smoked the tires.
That 396 sounds good and what a great ride! Thanks again guys. Lol, I'm sure George does too!
And the G.T.X. come on!!! Spectacular!!!👍
Estos videos los amo estos Hemi los amo. Soy un fan de Dodge desde que naci desde Argentina. Ojala algun dia solamente pueda conocer estos sueños mios en persona. Saludos y Dodge siempre
Come by anytime.
@@NicksGarage Thank you very much for the response, I really appreciate it. This time I'm going to use the translator to be able to express myself a little more. Without making it too long, I tell you about my Dodge fanaticism. I started driving when I was 10 years old (20 years ago) with a Dodge 1500 (4 cylinders 1.8cc) that I still have today. I also had Dodge polara (6 cylinder slant six) and my dream in Argentina is to get the Dodge GTX v8 318ci. The above mentioned is everything that practically exists in Argentina from Dodge, but the prices are really impossible. I studied systems engineering to be able to have a stable job and be able to buy my dream, but I still haven't achieved it.
My biggest dream in the future is to be able to save money and visit the US to really get to know the brand of my life as it deserves. Hopefully it will be soon and I would love if it is possible to visit you and enjoy a chat with you and see some Dodge units.
Greetings and thank you very much!!!!
These cars are works of art and they've got the best man for the job nick is a pure artist at his trade.
great video Nick! thanks for bringing us along for the ride.
Thanks for hopping in.
My dad had a 69 GTX 440 Super Commando 3.23 gears top end unlimited.
Here’s to dad!
I love the Impala. Speaking of big cars I really miss a 1971 Oldsmobile Delta 98 with a 455 Rocket. What a cruiser! I would enjoy seeing one of those on the dyno! Thanks for the video!
George’s Impala is gorgeous. Best looking red on red drop top I’ve seen. The tow bar tabs on the GTX are a bit of a clue…badass!
That red on red Impala sure is one nice looking and sounding ride Nick as is that GTX so thanks for the ride in both Nick, Robert & George. Till next time have a beaut week ahead.
Awesome show and beautiful cars keep them coming and see you Friday
Nice video Nick. I had an identicle 66 Impala convertible for almost 25 years. I loved that car, even though I really wanted a 67 Chevelle convertible. I gave the Impala to my friend Mike after he helped build the Chevelle. It's an L79 327, close ratio Muncie, and a 12 bolt. Really fun to drive. I added power steering and brakes because it's not a race car.
MAN ...that GTX is perfect !!!!!
Amazing some of the nicest car's in Canada always finds there way to Nick's garage.
"I could do that all day" me too. Nice job Robert, that isn't easy work.
The best car channel on UA-cam is right here Nick's garage an it always well be too
Thank you!
Cold War motors is up with Nick 👍🏻🇦🇺🇨🇦.
Hi Nick /The other half of the DINAMIC DUO Robert/ George the video guy... Nick I still think 🤔 you should put the 528 BEAST in your KOWALSKI and let her RIP .. I think you would LOVE IT !!! That's a really nice 66 Caprice and the HEMI GTX with the killer 426 and the DANA 60 .. What a combo ... Robert nice job on the rewiring on the GTX and can you say Hi to Manny for me Robert .. Thanks 👍.. Have a great week guys and see you LIVE with Nick Friday with the whole gang.. NICK ----- WHO LOVES YA BABY !!! FROM YOUR FRIEND AND #1 FAN THE BANDIT ...
looks like the gtx has a little wobble in the right rear wheel.
Just wanted to say, I watched a video on graveyard cars about the vanishing point movie car and read the comments, you've got a lot of positive fans out there, keep up the great videos, nothing but respect from all your subscribers.
Thanks for the info! 👍
I like all cars on this channel and this GTX is pure aweomenes! ❤
I'm from Croatia, and sometimes we pay double for everything from the USA or Canada. I have an 88 Trans Am GTA for 17 years, now it has a souped up 350 engine with a 5 speed and I don't think I will ever sell it. ❤
Greetings from Croatia!
Sounds like a fun car. 👍
Nick is a great role model for the budding hot rodder
Thank you Nick for driving a muscle car like it should be driven. You have to blow out the cobwebs every now and again 👍🏻
Absolutely.
Nice 66' Impala... and the 68' GTX is a AWESOME machine...good content and thanks 🔧👍
I love the 60s, I had a 69 roadrunner 4 sp 383hp. It was strong 💪
Great episode. Love the rear lights of the 66 gtx what an awesome car. Thanks Nick for taking us on this nice ride
Glad you enjoyed it
Nick,
Sure, I wish my '68 GTX "Fred" had a hemi but he doesn't - and the 440 is fine, too.
Same deal too - manual drum brakes (the Porterfield shoes I told you about haven't
lived up to what I had hoped for and the cars' brakes are still not very good, sadly) and
manual steering, 18 spline etc. on Fred as well.
My health is such that I get him out occasionally for a ride, but I really need to address
the brakes and such soon - I'm used to the car and how much a handful he can be,
but I don't want anyone else driving it.
I'm very sorry about the Porterfield thing and wish it had turned out better than it did.
- Ed on the Ridge
Fred sounds wonderful. Thanks Ed.
GTX Green Sweet as well!!!!!!! Great RIding with Nick and Robert on their Romp......I mean shake down test drive. Yep all systems work A-OK!!!!!!!
I like both cars but the red 66 lmpala is awesome......Thanks Nick and all you guy's......l lied the GTX IS AMAZING.....
Old F-4 II pilot Shoe🇺🇸
Thanks for the visit, Shoe.
What a gorgeous convertible! And a hemi gtx? Double whammy this week! Thanks guys!
You bet!
" I said I'd take it easy - I lied!" That's a t shirt right there!! 🤣🤣
Had one in White/white/white..454ci...I miss it
Sounds awesome.
@@NicksGarage But my true love of course is Mopar..Detroit
Thank You for the video !!!
awesome Impala ,
Wicked GTX !!!
Treasures !!!!!!!!!!!
Love muscle car
Love the GTX stripper model, like the Road Runner with a Tuxedo, just a beautifully optioned car. Cheers from Calgary.
I have to commend your thorough job using check sheets. Watching amiture racing channels I hardly ever se
pre-inspection check list. Your shop is first class, the rest are dead last.
Love that impala!!
It’s a head turner.
426 no power steer and drum brakes and no power assist. Crazy what we drove back then compared to the modern cars.
I mean I love these cars, but they can be hard work... and fun.
What a beautiful car,a piece of art,real car,regards from Greece 🇬🇷 nick ❤
❤️🇬🇷
To me that impala intake tone is way more muscle car sounding then any race cam long-tube header loud exhaust nightmare of an overheating mess thing... Quite mufflers four barrels intake tone that's the sound of power
You know Nick I enjoyed my Coronet RT 69 with the 440 Magnum so much man I missed that car
Robert knows his stuff!
Thank you sir!
Thanks for the ride guys! That was fun! Love the red on red Impala. What color is the top?
Thanks Meower. It’s a black top.
Awsome Monday, so many beautiful cars Nick.
I love all old cars, muscle, cruiser or anything in between.
I recently started going through the original engine in my 64 galaxie 500 xl 390. It had never been apart. It had bad valve recession on a couple of cylinders. It will be getting an s code cam.
That Impala has such a 1960’s Southern Cali vibe.
Great Video!
If you could film the Purple Duster, that would be sweet!
Awesome! 🚙 💨 🇨🇦 🇺🇸 🇬🇷 🇦🇺 🇸🇪 🇬🇧
Sorry we are a bit late to upload tonight. Enjoy!
😊 Worth the wait! 🚙💨
@@NicksGarage all good.
Wow ! I'm jealous 😅
I watch all of your videos, Nick.
Thank you!
What a beautiful car.If I owned it, I'd put a carbon fiber drive shaft and some very expensive universal joints. And that really good rear gear.Set up pause the attraction with three seventy three gears
Of only my dad were alive to see that GTX. His was baby blue, dynod at a hair shy of 700hp with a holley three barrel carb and ran a 10.40 on a foggy night in oakland.
Hi Nick, Two beauty’s in this one!😎👍 One for Cruising and one for Racing, The best of Both worlds! Thanks for sharing Bud.😎🙌⭐️⭐️🕊🦋🕊🙏✌️🌅
Glad you enjoyed it
With broken classic cars Nick's Garage turns the tide Now the winter is over let's go for a ride Any automobile Nick and the team work on I'd own with pride Nick's Garage every week provide a petrol head a vibe It's a real nice condition Impala Nick is testing out He always makes sure every component is reliably stout He's got mechanical empathy so he warms cars up before he floors em He's no lout His duty is to give the cars a beating ensuring they're no weakling You could do alot worse than an Impala if it's adventure and style you are seeking Red on Red Just beatiful like Nick said Nick is a Mopar specialist and a Plymouth Hemi GTX is hard to resist Robert is the man with the joblist His job title is electrician but to his clients he's a magician Making sure everything that ticks or clicks is in perfect working condition Taking the GTX out for a burn Does everything work is what Nick and Robert want to learn Tarmac this GTX was designed to churn It's got a very distinct sound A fantastic package all round Foot to the floor You're going staight forward so what would you need power steering for? It's the real deal It's got miles to go and tyres to peel There's cars you drive then there's cars that you feel Thanks Nick George and Robert
Thanks Robert, it touches me.
@@robertbazinet9983 Bless your heart
Dad had a '66 Impala, 283 and Power-Glide. Car I learned to drive in!
Plenty of room in that back seat too! 😉
Back then, we always considered the GTX as the “Poor Man’s Road Runner”!!😄
I have to say my favorite was the ‘69. I liked the tail lights better.😉🤣🤣
Bad ass Hemi GTX
That Impala is gorgeous! The Mopar is a bad manner-jabber!!
BEAUTIFUL CARS!!! George all the different camera angles was amazing. Great video guys!
Glad you liked it!!
Fun intro & killer prelude George, Tks!!
I am not a Red car guy......BUT THAT RED ON RED IMPALA IS BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!
So nice!!!!!!!
That 396 needs more "cowbell" !!!!
Not a cloud in the sky awesome
had that green "cold" light in my 68 428 /4 speed LTD back in 1982. hey george !! A T shirt in that weather?
I just love the wicked laugh of Nick when he's smoking the tires off a big block Chevy, and even better in a 4 speed GTX with a hemi under the hood. ❤
👍
That's fun riding with you nick
hi guys nick and robert you had some fun driving the Gtx i like the 1970 one instead.
Beautiful cars. I love the Chev. And I love the GTX, that's a beautiful green. Did anyone notice the rear tyres have a wobble like they might be out of round?
With that GTX I think he should add power brakes and disc brakes to the front and maybe possibly a power steering
Nick is like Dr. Who...The Doctor always lies and so does Nick when it comes tp pushing it through the gate!
Less than 500 hardtop hemi GTX made that would be a treat to drive.
Quick shoutout to Eugene, thanks Brother beast of a car
Great video! Loved the 4 speed gtx!
Glad you enjoyed it
Great new microphones, George but I'm not sure about that periscope camera - I had to check my cornflakes for LSD tabs!! 🙃
Nick it looked like the right rear tire might have a wobble to it.
My first car; 68 GTX red w/black interior. 440 4 barrel.
My 3rd car; 67 Chevy Impala, 327 4 barrel, factory 4 speed, canary yellow w/black interior. Ironic, huh... The one I let get away.
Also ownd a baby blue 64 Ford Galaxy 352, 4 barrel. All excellent shape.
hey a good old hwemi honker with that truck like shifter those were the days. awesome nick!
He should've put in a four speed. Great car George. You probably already have a Mopar?
George is a Chevy guy.
love that little tac in the GTX
lol. All business.
I guess it worked a lot better after Robert wired it up!
Thats a groovy tune at 2:40 !
