It should even be "ikinagagalak". Lol. But no one really uses that phrase, not even the most native Tagalog speakers. It's a direct translation from English and also an unnecessary phrase for us.

Guys as someone whos filipino but was never taught i just hope you remeber what it was like learning english. cuz in america youll rarely hear someone say "hello, nice to meet you. Whats you name? my name is ____" because of all the slang we use, it would be more like "hey im ___ whats your name?" but someone who is just learning the language wouldnt know that. You have to learn how to speak formally before you learn slang

I'm a native bisaya speaker. Filipino and English are my second languages as i learned both languages together. I appreciate this channel for teaching Filipino. Tho they said it's too formal, it proves that the language is fluid. If a person (specially a foreigner) would speak formal Filipino to me, I'll really find it amazing.

    • @goofyahhuncleproductions8855

Exactly!!! also Filipino is based on Tagalog. i hope you don't mix Bisaya and English, and, Filipino and English.
not having exact translation is not an excuse there are literally thousands of Filipino and Bisaya words.

4:18 Oh my gosh, that animation of the letters shifting is superb! You actually show the change , instead of just reciting two separate things and counting on us to memorize it.
Animation like that should be done in far, far more language lessons, yours included. It could really help us see what exactly is different between two sentences. It can go far beyond merely showing formal vs informal.

To those who are saying that the lesson is wrong just because they teach what we call “malalim na salita”. Remember, those who watch this are foreigners who want to learn our language. It is just right to learn the formal way of speaking. Yes, here in the philippines we don’t use those kind of sentences because we are all filipinos. If we talk to each other we just add “po” “opo” to be respectful. But when we talk to foreigners we must be more formal to have our nation more respect. Hindi yung pag sumagot ka sa kanila ang sagot mo e sagot pang kalye. Remember they are not natives. Just like in korea. They have honorifics, formal and informal ways of speaking. Those who are learning are encouraged to learn the formal way before the informal because it is more polite using formal in talking. Same with tagalog. It is just right to learn the more polite way of speaking tagalog than what we usually use in daily speaking.

As Pinoy, we don’t speak deep Tagalog anymore. In conversational Tagalog, it’s mix with regional dialect and English with around maybe 60% of Tagalog. It’s nice that there’s a program like this. I’m proud 👏🏼

As a native Filipino we don't use these words, it's way too deep and old fashioned. We commonly use "hoy" as a way of calling someone or mix Tagalog with English. But I don't recommend using informal language when it's your first time meeting someone. Just say "hello po ate" (if it's a girl) and "hello po kuya" (if it's a boy)
