Stoke Temple Pilots are one of my all-time favourite bands. They were very versatile. This song is only one example of what they could do. They started off being quite grunge in the early 90's but they really branched out into different musical styles from album to album. Check out Interstate Love Song, Big Bang Baby, Lady Picture Show and Sour Girl for 4 very different song styles. Scott Weiland was a great singer. He could sing softly and sweetly and scream his head off with equal measure. His solo album 12 Bar Blues is fantastic. He was later in the band Velvet Revolver with Slash from Guns N' Roses. Sadly, like so many great rock singers he died young from heart problems brought on by extreme drug use.. A sad loss. Chester Bennington sang with Stone Temple Pilots for a couple of years, after Scott was kicked out of the group. Chester toured with them and recorded an EP called High Rise.. I think it's the only record of the band with Chester as lead singer. Glad you've decided to check the band out, there's lots to enjoy from them. They are actually still going as a band, with another lead singer, but I haven't heard any of their recent stuff.
I got an STP in the 90's. The cure was moar cowbell! Lot's of great songs (as others have listed already) by this band, to checkout if you never have. I store them in the same memory file as FF's, Soundgarden, Queens of the stoneage, etc...
He wore it on his sleeve. Grunge bands mentioned above all seem to have emerged one right after another back then, great time to be a young rock fan, I was able to see most of these bands. STP was very diverse yet it was all great. These bands all came up in the 80's when drugs were very available and so many didn't survive their habit when money became no object. React to anything really , but "Plush" many believe was the best of the Mtv Unplugged series. Happy birthday Kristi🎂
Thank you Michael💞Their MTV unplugged one one of the best. I do remember thinking when it aired what the producers had to do to keep Scott in that chair. He did love to dance. I was waiting for him to jump and start throughout the whole show😆
Down is such a return to their original “sound”. Check out Atlanta and Sour Girl. This album is probably the most underrated in their discography. It sits at number 2 for me, but switches to 1 depending on my mood. 😂❤ Definitely an STP album that encompasses their entire range as I feel it has elements from previous works!
STP , same genre as Alice in.Chains , Pearl Jam , Soundgarden , Nirvana . RIP Scott, similar story to Layne 😞.. Vasoline , Sex Type Thing , Crackerman , Dead and Bloated 🔥.. Got some great slower songs too Plush , Creep , Kitchenware & Candybars . Right up there with Alice In Chains ( who r my fav from that era)
That's Robert voice saying will u follow me down now down now his voice is similar to Scott but much deeper. It's easy to get confused by both of them .
another vote for Interstate Love Song - was also on the soundtrack from the film The Crow (Brandon Lee). Any song from the album 12 Gracious Melodies. See if someone can link the 13th track!?
Since I’m three years late to this reaction (I like to be fashionably late 😉), I don’t know if you have reacted to more in their catalogue. So you should check out: Dead and Bloated Lounge Fly Big Empty Creep Interstate Love Song Atlanta Sour Girl Sex Type Thing Big Bang Baby Vasoline Plush Trippin on a hole… Wicked Garden Pretty Penny Crackerman
It helps to know that Scott Weiland struggled with addiction for most of his adult life. So I take this song to be about slipping back into old habits and the self-loathing and regret that results. His Sunday girl would be someone be can confess everything and reveal himself to completely, so it seems he's asking some new person in his life if she'll stick around at his worst and help him to the other side.
Glad you enjoyed it Lee. STP was considered grunge. Scott Weiland was lead singer until he was fired in 2013. Chester joined after Scott was fired while he was recovering from his broken ankle. Here is a link to Chester singing this song as STP’s lead singer if you would like to listen or react to it ua-cam.com/video/r4xGNJxzYEQ/v-deo.html. Chester was a big fan of them. Crazily enough, Scott went on to join Slash and other members of Guns and Roses to form Velvet Revolver. Other favorites of mine by STP “Wicked Garden”, “Unglued”, “ Sex Type Thing” and “ Dead and Bloated”. Now I’m rambling 😂. Great birthday present for me . Thanks Lee. RIP Scott. Miss your voice, energy and dancing😞
