I had my PS4 for about 7 years before I upgraded to a series X, in those 7 years I abused it like hell, let it dust away, got water on it, etc, and never once did the PS controller give me any problems, 3 months into getting my series X and taking care of it like if it where my child, the controller starts drifting, cmon Microsoft
It's not just Microsoft thing Sony and Nintendo are just as guilty by same standards. PS5 controllers are having the same issue and also switch controllers. It seems like PS4 and Xbox one and previous controllers never had that issue. Dont know why these newer one have problems with stuck drift. Still use my Xbox one controller I got in 2013 on my series X still works like a champ!!
@@joshuasykes4817 I've had stick drift on PS3, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. I may just be bad with controllers lol but last gen definitely had issues with it as well

@Nighthawk Viper crazy thing is I've took my controller apart several times and replaced the disk things for the analog sticks with the powerA ones and haven't had a drift in months
I repaired this way a lot of controllers.
I saw a video of a guy who completely desoldered the entire unit off the motherboard, This is so much faster😂

Is this a part made for this fault or the same is in other Controllers? Can you only fix it with this part or also with another controller?

This is better than the last stick drift fix video
These manufacturers need a class action lawsuit for these because EVERY SINGLE dang Xbox Controller I've bought (Elite Series II, Power A, Base Wireless Series X Controller, and Walmart Wireless Series X Controllers)all get stick drift. I work out and have strong hands but I baby my controllers and after 2-3months; Bam another one.
Yet my Stadia controller still doesn't have stick drift and I played Destiny 2 for over 1500hrs on it... 😂
big corps know this, trust me give it 5 years maybe even less and the right to repair will literally be abolished. Pair that with all the new high tech things like phones, drones, consoles, controllers all have their own little defects that the manufacturer knows are prevalent in their product, but they just know us as a consumer can’t do much besides give in to their tactic and buy a 70$ controller from them directly. Honestly gonna say screw it and just learn a bit of fixing and repairing so i don’t have to be a puppet to all these company’s since there is a good amount of fix it channels out there with good tutorials.
my og xbox controller never had it lmao it jus bc they use cheap parts
LMAO "Fun fact I work out" "I know its a mechanical well recorded issue that happens to everyone but maybe it happens to me just because im too strong" bro....humble down..
To fix it they have to invent a completely new piece or go back to older software. The controller lasts 5-7 years but the module that reads the stick movement only lasts 3-15 months. Its an issue with all controllers cause they all use the same kind of module, every brand of any play station, xbox, pc and nintendo controller uses this piece. Xbox 360 and old playstation controllers lasted much longer before drifting so I think they should go back to that set up. But they cant do much to change it. The options are very limited and this was the lesser evil. A good thing is xbox is becoming a lot more compatible with mouse and keyboard, which is a different system than sticks so we can avoid this issue all together.
From what I have learned its that the module burns out, literally, it slowly burns until the metal is non conductive in areas. If you replace one check to see if the metal piece on it is brown or black. That would just show that it burns the metal over time, just like how a silver pizza pan becomes bronze or brown with use.
When you do this as as soon as you notice drift effecting game play, even if minuscule, and replace the module then it wont start effecting anything past it and youll have a controller for a long time.
Its an investment. 5 bucks a year tops and about 2 hours of your time a year to avoid spending an hour a year to go get a controller for 60 bucks is well worth it.
I have 6 controllers and 3 game players in my house so I replace this piece far more. It only takes me 15 min now to open a controller and replace this piece, and its only 10 bucks a year (cause I buy in bulk). Well worth it in my opinion. I highly recommend learning it.
Ps: test the controller stick before you screw the plates back on all the way (use with plates on even though its not screwed on so you don't touch the electronics when they are running)
Another ps: start by using an air can to clean dust first, sometimes that's the only issue.
GL 😊
The washer (moving piece in the middle) can wear out, and the hub (the black piece inside the casing) can get scratched up from the wear and tear. If you do not see any scratches then you don't need to remove the hub.
If you aren't careful and bend the springs on the washer, it might make the drifting worse with calibration malfunctions.
I replace the washer only with a new one. It gets worse.
I didn’t order the exact ones but it worked. The only problem I had was putting them in because there so small but otherwise great fix!

The funny things is you don't always have to replace it. Just clean it. I took mine out cleaned it and put it back in. Works fine again.
what replacement part do i need?
I think its actually the graphite pad (green part) that gets destroyed by the metal rubbing on it. you can temporarily fix it by cleaning it.
So what I've been doing is sometimes its the analog stick itself that is causing the drift... I'll leave the 2 green potentiometers in and replace the stick... It requires soldering 4 mounts and 4 smaller pins for the R3 or L3 button... BUT since you aren't necessarily messing with the potentiometers, you have a much better chance of being dang close to zero when reinstalling the controller.
The potentiometers are the only thing picking up faulty movement. The sensors are made of graphite and every console manufacture (literally all of them) should be sued for selling faulty goods.
@@dmaskell92so they just wear out over time no matter what and need replaced like this?
This works. Bought a used series s super cheap. Controller had the drift. This worked perfectly. Thank you.
Worked for me !! I just switched both of those things in the other module and it work, thx you ! ( It work for Astro C40 )
Yeah I eventually just got a gamesir hall effect after having to resolder so much
That green thingy is called a potentiometer
This worked on one my controllers, but the other one is now clicking and the drift is not fixed
You can also saturate it with isopropyl alcohol, and then regrease with a dielectric grease.
This actually worked for my controller I ordered a pack of 4 sticks and it technically had 8 wipers
I did this using the my old controller that wasn't powering on for parts. Worked perfectly after wards
IMO we all need to group together and file a class action lawsuit against these companies for making such crappy analog sticks
I just fixed my stick drift by doing this.. Thank U sooo much!!❤️❤️
not only that you have too fix the black circle rubber pad thing on the green cover too .
How
i was wondering why nobody was just swapping those out instead of the whole damn stick
For anyone wondering be careful when doing this, if you don't have much stick drift I would not do this because it might not fix it and if you don't know what you are doing you will likely make it worse
Exactly what i jus did on my scuf impact what is the name of the part i need to order
Have you tried the usual solution for fixing potentiometers, like volume controls on music players, etc? Get a can of contact cleaner, and squirt a little bit onto the track of the potentiometer. Then turn it back and forth a load of times. Often fixes it unless the thing's really worn away to nothing. But usually it's just dirt and skin oil.
i thought the carbon track on the actual "green thing" (a potentiometer) was what needed to be replaced and that the metal wiper was just that, a metal wiper? Im assuming if this works then the Pot wasn't too bad and a simple cleaning might've fixed it. cleaned it with a little BW-100. i could be wrong though
thank ya legend
That new wiper was completely messed up
Why is your least favorite way to fix? Does it not work? & where can I guy them circle springy things
Because its the hardest to do and costs money
@@seyhuh doesn't cost money just take one out of an old controller from the side it doesn't drift
I love how this shit happened to my new controller piece of junk
Thanks its work now 👌
I did this fix on a controller and although it did eliminate the stick drift it created a new problem where the sensitivity is now way too sensitive. The 0 to 100 curve is way too steep, making it easy more difficult to make small movements like when aiming with the right stick for example
Pry out the old one 👍🏻 😂
Thanks korg
What’s the link for that part
I have never had stick drift until EVERYONE started talking about it. Yall jinxed me lol
Of course I’m being biased, but G.O.A.T. video of 2022.
What if for me, it goes up or down and gets stuck... and I replaced it with the circle from the other one but unfortunately it still doesn't work allright : /
Yeah I tried this and the pins broke below the green thing now my stick is completely dead
You put them back in the wrong way around, I've done the same. The only way to fix it is buy replacement little circle things you broke.
@@garethwillisI did the same thing aswell but I put my little circle thing (potentiometer) back to the correct way and it’s resolved my issue
Okay so i couldnt get the green flap to click back in, now my joystick goes all the way to the right whenever i pair it to my xbox and i cant make it go back, wtf.
You put the round things back in the wrong way around that it why it won't shut. Spin them around and put them back in.
@@garethwillis ahh thank you lol i shoulda tried that
@@kylejohnson9510 exactly the same thing happened to me. It won't close properly so you squeeze harder, then the pins snap. Either buy new ones or get a new pad, even a used one. Sorry that happened to you too mate but at least you know now. I can't remember for sure which way around the go but just watch a tutorial and see which way they are configured, best of luck bud.
Does this fix the Elite series 2 drift as well?
yes
Would this fix my drifting? My analog dosnt stick but when I’m in a menu etc it just keeps moving as if I was holding it or the stick was stuck
Doesn't the wear in the green thingy also cause drift? Just changing the lil' champion won't always do, I think.
Another “screw you any place that isnt USA”-fix
Would you mind to give a suggestion in order to solve the problem of my dirfted logitech f310 controller?
😂😂😂😂i love you bro i need this 2 year
Xbox arent here to sell games. They're here to sell controllers.
This is the best fix for most people
sometimes the inside potentiometer is drifted out and need a complete replacement. Stil less expensive than a 60$ controller.
Yeah but you don't even have to solder anything if you get the WD-40 contactor spray just sprayed in there real good work it all around let it dry remove any hair you see and boom it's done
@@Catch_u_reloadnidk cleaning It in my experience barely works for me. Most of my stick drift personally happens from wear and tear and doing this method is the only way to fix the issue
This green thing broke at half when I've tryed to push it :c
Can I switch joystick from replica ps4 controller onto original controller?
Do you have to recalibrate after doing a fix like this?
I need only the small thing behind the green ? Because i already got new ones and i want to change the whole block. But now i need only the small thing jipieh
My series x controlled started drifting too after only a year or so of moderate gaming. Never happened with the Xbox 360 before.
Where can i buy that lil round thing can never find em.. link doesnt work
How can u change that stick ??mins is broken so any idea how to change it???

Is that the right analog stick?
The forward input on my left stick on my scuf controller doesnt work at all. Left, right and back work fine? Help 😢
What do you mean doesn't work does it not move up if so I don't know i this will work for you but my ps3 controller had that issue I forced it to go up pushed it until it broke fixed itself its been working fine ever since
Thank you did this but i cleaned with alcohol and no more drift Thank you 😭😭😂
If i replace that little circle inside the blue square with a new one my controller will be fine right ?
unless you don't break it then yes
Will this work with the 360?
I’ve had the same series x controller for almost 2 years and i haven’t gotten any sort of drift yet 😭
And can i use a white pontimeter thing
But do the parts work for the series controllers??
It should do. The One and Series controllers use the same analog stick modules.
So you don’t have to replace the green box just the white sensor inside?
Yes
It depends. If the green box is damaged you need to replace it as well
Hey my audio jack is broken for my controller do you think there a way to fix it without buying another controller?
Replace the audio jack?
You could always just get an adapter to plug it into the console, or you can get a Bluetooth adapter....
They should use hall effect sensors for all of their controllers but they won't. Sony, Microsoft etc. None of them will do that because it's far more profitible to make controllers that break every 3-6 months opposed to ones that last years.
Contemplating this because my ps4 pro controller's right stick drifts to the left bigly. Shockingly my Xbox controllers havent and i replaced my joycon sticks with gullikits. And in my opinion all analogs should be modular like the WiiU pad, gamecube and n64 were.
Do you replace both of the sensors ?
It's good to replace both so you won't have to go back in.
Is this for the series systems?
Ngl my controller joystick wasnt going to right no matter how hard ud push and out of nowhere i thought it could be from that little black thing so i exchanged it with my 360 controller (which they have the same joystick design) and it totally worked fine lol i was surprised for a second
I got a question I know this video is old but if you accidentally break off that green piece is it a bad thing bc whenever I put it all back and cut on the controller I’d stays going to the left side.
If it’s fully broken off then you’ll need to resolder it to put it back on. Also about the left side thing, I had this issue when I made a mistake with my potentiometer, I had put it upside down this whole time.
After I put it back to the correct position, my analog stick was back to normal and had less drift than it did before I opened my controller up.
what is the name of this part
Take out that champeen dayyyyyy
changing the wiper aint gonna fix it, drift cause by the wear out of the carbon strips inside the pots and the dust from the wiper rubbing against those carbon strips, chances are by removing the old wiper in this stupid video some of the dust also got remove and this pots also have very minor drift so it works
Try air blowing technique first
Whatcha bubba. 😂
the green thingy is a potentiometer
Where do I get the part
What about bumpers?
bro I watched this video and the part you push down was welded and I broke it off lmao ordered a new controller :(
Bro how do you figure out which of the two is faulty and thus which one to change, for reference purposes when i say " which of the two " i dont mean sticks i mean the little green jobbies that are both attached to the analog stick.
The one replaced in the video is for left and right. The other green thing is for up and down
There is no description below! 😅
Yeah you could do that and then take some WD-40 contact sprayer sprayed in their work the controller around in a circle and a circle and keep working it around take a vacuum cleaner suck out anything that's left it put it back together and it should work fine
You could just replace the potentiometer all together its only like 2-7 dollars
