I took the Bus on some challenging off-road trails for a few days, and it barely made it through. I'm excited to share a video of the experience this Wednesday. Now that I'm back home, I have a long to-do list, All smiles! 😁🤙

Wow, that sounds fantastic. It probably goes up the hills easily, now. Always smart to double check everything. "Looking good.", as Larry says.

Thank you for your advice! Your comment stuck with me while I was fueling up. So I checked the fuel & Oil lines. 😂 Looked over the engine bay.

Good to see you back at it, Larry! Always enjoy the tech stuff, I find it motivating. Can't wait to see you & Das Bus out on the trail again! Have a good night, Larry.
P.S. Take care of your back! As far as I know, you can't get an after market back.

Hey Brother! I'm over the tech stuff, I would like to see more dirt, trees and mountains. The back is feeling good. All I know is I'm pushing 59 years old and I know this isn't going to last forever. I'll take all the morning wake-up coffees out adventuring as I can do. Much love to you both! Thanks for always keeping a eye on me. Give Bonnie a Hug! :o)

Check if he used valve stem lash caps, if you doesn't have those your valves stems will be beaten up in 500 miles. If you need to install them you need to redo the geometry again. That ticking is eather a stem smashing up, bad lifter bore or loose valve seat.

Thanks for the input! It does have valve stem lash caps. The clatter is a good clatter. I'm just use to a stock valve train noise.

I thought with heater boxes you should not close off the air flow. I believe you will actually create more engine heat that way. Something to research....

Good one, Heater- Boxes do have cutoff air flaps that stop the air flow. My Research, Have you ever been driving in a VW pre67 transporter single cab with Safari Windows. Safaris open, both sliders windows on the doors ... open going down the freeway at 55 MPH. You can't hear your buddy talking right next to you, right. Than with the safari's still open, both of you close both door windows. You'll notice that you can now talk and you have very little wind coming into the cabin. Yeah still driving 55 MPH with the safari's wide open. So, By plugging the air outlets before it goes into the old leaky heater boxes, all the forced air goes to the oil cooler, cylinders and heads. LoL Thanks for the fun! Cheers

Stock cam would've been better for your application. That stupid w100 will give you nothing without dual carburators. It will only give stress on your valve train, valve guides, noisy lifters, maybe bit less low torque and it wil not feel as smooth driving slow on terrain offroad.
Better ran a completely stock valve train or made a stock 1776. Aaggghh just telling my experience and opinion. But i hope it works out well for you and have lots of safe and care free miles.

I do have Dual Carbs (on the shelf), But I wanted to try out that 39 pic carb first.
