You are too blessed! You got a happy child there❤
Your videos are so entertaining, I am planning to get a kitchen aid so just in case anything goes wrong I know which channel to refer ;))
Awesome tutorial but I must say your mini me (beautiful baby boy) totally stole the show!
You should see the little guy now he is huge and 3 years old!
I have a KA 5 quart bowl-lift from when they were still using the Hobart specs. When its day comes, and IF I buy another KA, I hope to be able to remove the spring/washer from the old machine and install it on the new one. KA should never have stopped installing them. I've seen videos where the paddle flies off when the machine is slowing down.
I ordered the spring and washer from you for my Pro 600 and just took the pin out of the bottom of the shaft, installed the spring & washer, put the pin back in and had no issues. Works great! Thanks!
Some of them have a wider snap ring, I ran into some that were too thick and some that worked! So I'm going to send both just in case!
@@MrMixer316 Great idea! Your customer service is awesome!
@@stevegordon5243 thank you Steve, I strive to provide the best possible service I can!
How do you take the pin out? Any special tools?
@@jarcher5997 the pin slides right out by hand! Some the tilt head models have pins that need to be punched out, this model simply slides right out!
I did have issues getting the pin out. Actually the pin was sheared off on both sides. I assume this is bad?
hello! thank you for your videos! I am unsure which spring and washer I need. I bought my pro kitchenaid off a friend so am unsure which model I have. it says 6 qt 590 w on side ? please help TIA!
I was having an unholy time with my snap ring pliers, but you know what made all the difference... I used a Dremel to sand down the pins just the tiniest bit so they actually fit IN the snap ring holes, and I subsequently had zero issues with any of the snap rings!
I apologize for the inconvenience, we have actually started doing that with all of our snap ring pliers that we sell now!
@@MrMixer316 Nothing to apologize for, I had my own pliers already when I set off on the project - thrilled to hear you're adjusting the ones available in your store though!
@@reneejuneau7585 oh cool! Yes we have found that unless you buy 40$ pliers, the prong sizes fluctuate so much that we were having some that were too big to fit the tiny snap ring holes, so we just so a little grinding 😊
I was going to install one, but after watching the video, I think it's easier to replace the attachment when it wears down... That replacement process looks too complicated for me
We offer a quick install which will be the only one you can use on the 5.5qt, I'm making a tutorial on it, it's super easy and non invasive
So I have a fleet of Kenmore elite Tilt head stand mixers which which were also manufactured by Whirlpool/kitchenaid. I love my mixers there's and I use them a lot. My older one It's about 11 years old and still works like she did on date on day one. It probably would not hurt if I we're 2 swap the old grease for new but I'm not opening it up myself. What type of repair shop should I look for?? Are there shops that Specialize in small appliances like mixer's?? I thought maybe I could go into my local vacuum store and ask someone there if they could recommend someone since since they work on small motors as well. Anyway love to hear your advice,✌
Hi! I purchased a spring/washer from you for my pro 600 & noticed that the 3qt combi whip paddle attachment no longer fits now that the spring/washer was installed, is there anything I can do to remedy that so I can use the smaller bowl/paddle?
Hi, Thank you for the great instruction videos. They are great and helpfull, but My kitchenAid (Model 5 KPM5EWH Heavy Duty) has a problem, and I can't find a repair video for this problem.
One of the carbon brushes rubs against the motor and sparks constantly. The machine runs but makes a loud rumbling noise. Can you help?
So the brush arc is a pretty common issue. Generally brushes spark when they aren't making a firm connection. The rumbling could be caused by a few things either the bearing bracket is worn out or possibly the motor has rubbed the armature and been damaged as well. I do not have a video up for the motor but I plan to in the not too distant future.
Sort of a weird question I suppose, but is there any point in repack a brand new machine with high quality moly grease? If not, how many years should I go before thinking about regrease it?
Also would love to see some videos on the higher end DC/planetary gear models.
We reccomend every couple years for a regrease, that's when the grease starts to break down, unfortunately some machines come already leaking grease, as it's assumed that they were sitting in storage for long periods of time prior to making it to a store shelf, regardless after two years of use it needs to be greased and tuned to prevent further wear on the unit! I can certainly release some content on the DC style machines!
Do you ever clean your parts in diesel?
Hello. My new artisan makes a tuku tuku tuku Sound, like a train 😐 when I mix dense ingredients. The blades are very loose and I suppose that is the reason right?
My sister is getting a brand new professional bowl lift for Xmas, and I wanted to get her the spring and washer, but I don’t think I’m skilled enough to open the machine. Is there any reason I can’t put the spring then washer on from the bottom (pushing in the pin where the attachments go) instead of coming in from the top?
The pin doesn't push in, you would have to punch it out, however you run a higher risk of buggering up the pin/pin hole and if that happens it's a bigger headach then just removing the planetary and coming In from the top. Its a lot less intimidating once you start doing it!
Where can I get a paddle and dough hook for a K5SS machine, Prefer stainless if possible / no coating. Thx!
There are many places that offer them but I'm not sure anywhere offers stainless. You can find the uncoated on eBay? Otherwise coated is all we have available
Are these good for the older machines that did come with a spring? My nephew decided to take the spring off mine and now I can’t find it 🥲
Yes it will fit all models!
Will this modification help keep my KA Artisan from breaking as easily if I added a spiral dough hook to it? I am currently trying to find a way to modify my KA to use the spiral hook with less risk and I don't really want to buy another mixer lol. THANK YOU
It will prevent the attachment from jerking around while mixing which will theoretically prevent excess force applied so I would say yes
@@MrMixer316 awesome! Thank you for relying so quickly I really appreciate it. I have a feeling I'll be using more of these videos as time goes on and I've subscribed!
@@spookyintentions989 it Is an absolute pleasure to have you here, I appreciate you!
Any tips on where to purchase this spring and washer without having to purchase a whole new agitating shaft?
We offer the spring and washer on our website Mrmixer.store
oh man, if only there wasn't a split washer... seems like a bit of work, and potential to embed split rings in your eye (wear goggles!), and nitrile gloves :) ...
will check the website, but is there anything special about the grease? i have many kinds on hand...
might be getting a K5-SS but "not sure" - bowls and accessories seem rare.
Pro 5+5 nearly new for sure; much better variety (and louder :P)
It's an nsf h1 nlgi 2 food safe safe grease. Food safe is a must and it needs to be nlgi 2 as nlgi 1 is too viscous
Do you do paint jobs on mixers, I might need one
Very soon, we have a building and are waiting on some more equipment but we will be able to custom paint and make machines essentially new sooner rather than later, we will make an announcement
I have a KSM150. Would your spring setup work for it?
I noticed it has a lot of play and makes a clicking noise while kneading, I've only used it twice, it's new.😢
Yes absolutely it will work!
@@MrMixer316 OH awesome! I'm so glad, I'm going to show my husband your videos and order your stuff!!! Thank you so much, I didn't really know if you would respond, I appreciate it so much!
@@Sam___Smith of course! I appreciate you! Have a wonderful weekend
Hello
My Artisans speed control switch advances by just breathing on it. Turning it on. Is there a easy fix? Or do I replace a part? Thanks
Check out our regrease series as i recommend since you will have to reveal the gears and grease anyways! It's just a screw that needs tightened!
@@MrMixer316 Will order. Thank You
Why not grease the shaft that the spring goes on?
Ugh this is so confusing. How do I install this? I just bought one for my brand new kitchenaid but I can’t bare to open it. I thought I was just installing a spring on the upper part. 😫
You can tap out the pin that's on the actual beater shaft that the attachments sit on if you would like!
ok got a question why can't you use a punch to push the bottom pin out of the shaft and put spring and washer in then put the pin back in the shaft.
You can, you take the chance of damaging the planetary, also we like to encourage regreasing and getting familiar with how the machines work!
@@MrMixer316 ok cool going to have to get on your website and order the parts. New subscriber
@@brosselot1 it's a pleasure to have you here! I'm always around If you have questions!
you keep saying you send 2 snap rings in the kit but I only got one
Did you order the correct kit? The tilt head kit only comes with one
Would adding the spring be worth the teardown on a new mixer? Or should I just wait until it's due for grease?
That's up to you! It is pretty painless to do, should take 15-20 min and helps protect the machine
would i need to regrease if it’s brand new can i just change the parts since it’s new??
Is there an easier way of installing the Spring and Washer? I thought I might add one to my brand new Professional 600 and do not think I need to re-grease just yet.
There is by just knocking out the pin on the agitator shaft
When snap rings fly they tear interdimensional rifts in space. Which is why they can never be found again!!! ;-)
Why not remove the stainless pin...then you won't have to mess with the retainers? Inquiring minds want to know! Thanks!
That pin likes to Waller out the shaft and it never sits just right, plus it has to be pretty exact when re installed or the paddles won't go on/will get stuck when you out them on. It's a bit harder process to install by removing the planetary, but it potentially saves you money and a headache! Remove at your own risk 😁
@@MrMixer316 weren't the old models screwed-on? I did work on one that someone else had taken that pin out...I don't remember having any problem with it.
Ordering parts from China is not manufacturing 🤣
I manufactured them in Kansas at a local spring manufacturer. Nice try! Be nice its Christmas.
