Gloria said about Marc at the very end of this BBC doc. when several persons were asked - he was of love ! How very sweet to hear that from her ! We are many that still love him and his music so very much . Always close to my heart.
Good Gods, Marc was born in 47? he would be around 75? Is that right? I doubt he could have handled being old and wrinkled all over like my old 67-year-old ass. What do think about this? I would appreciate hearing from anyone.

Thanks for sharing this video! It's an awesome reminder of a truly brilliant musician. We all have a little Marc in our hearts and he will live forever 💕🎸🦄
I really remember the music far more than the limited visuals we saw in NZ. He had a great simple sound with his vibrato voice. I have an am like his, HH VS Musician and think it might be collectable one day.
I was born in 1967, and so I only found his music in some 20-record compilation of 60's and 70's music. And that must have been in the early 80's, as I remember my father chiding me for "wailing" while having the later T.Rex records on my head-phones (OK, Zinc Alloy, I loved that one...). I'd bought anything I could find with Marc (and Tyrannosaurus Rex) around that time.
All it would take is some hip hop guy sampling one of Marc's tunes and T Rex would finally hit mega big in the USA....i feel it is time for that to happen
i was around 11 when i was putting up mark bolan pics on my bedroom wall//he was a beautiful man when young and he is sadly missed but never forgotten 2022x
I graduated from high school in 1972. I remember t rex. And to this day , this was the worst mess I've ever heard! You liked Marc because he was so cute!
The last time I saw the tree it still had momentoes to Mark. I felt very sad when I saw it and he was a massive part of my pre teen years. His persona was massive and is loved to this day unlike Gary who is just a memory that's an awful stain in our growing up when we understood what he was as a person.
I like his earlier stuff without the electric. Just the song and the melody without all the glitter. It doesn't seem all that glittery now but, it was pretty shocking back then. It appealed to really young teenagers. I was a little younger than that when I saw Born to Boogie on t.v.
I agree with John Peel that 'Marc's macho cock rock guitar posing' was silly, but the music of 'The Slider' was every bit as solid as the brilliant 'Unicorn' LP
Alice Cooper were the first glam male band in 1967/68 when Bowie and Bolan were sit-down, acoustic folk singers. This is so overlooked...reason being is that Alice evolved into a more 'horror' type image and was in the US. Glam was associated with the UK.
My favourite is 'The Slider', but I really love 'Tanx' as well. I don't agree with Mr Visconti though, I thought 'Tanx' was a departure and did not sound like the previous two. Didn't love 'Dandy in the Underworld' that much but yeah, it was a tight band and good production.
Saw T-Rex twice and he really was F*cking amazing. (As was Micky Finn on Bongo's) . Really interesting video. Such a tragedy he died so young. I think he hit the big time a few months or so to late. I've said it before, but he could have been another David bowie had he not been taken from us so young. 😟
Hi - is this the same clive who had a t.rex channel a few years back - i used to have my marcmickey channel with t.rex and mungo jerry - anyway if it is you hope all is good - long time no see--take care marc
Why people have to compare everybody to Elvis, Beatles and Jimi is pointless. He was Marc Bolan... and that was enough. Glam daddy with the Billy goat vibrato.
His spirit came his spirit has gone But with Marc Bolan, you can still Get It On T.rex they came and hit the scene You should have heard, those girls scream
With his corkscrew hair and people so fair He’d strut on the stage without worry or care He knew just how to get into your mind He’d bump and grind he was one of a kind He’d caress you with his Persian glove As he sang those words of hot Hot Love He’d Ride A White Swan over Crimson Moon Tickle your fancy with Venus Loon
Gave all he got, he gave it to you Rock On, Hang Ups, and Cadilac too All knew who was, was the Main man With Rip Off, Slider, and Tanx in a can
Bill Legend, Steve Currie, Mickey Finn Bumping and grinding from deep within Satin jacket trousers, glitter under the eyes I Love To Boogie with screams and cries
His B sides were good, as good as the A’s Jeepster was part of the Glam Rock phase Went to New York City he was The Groover With Telegram Sam Marc was a mover
To some, it came as no great surprise How this 20th Century Boy he did rise Electric Warrior L.P. was pure bliss Marc Bolan the Warrior we do miss.
"Steve doing the unspeakable thing"......"Let's do some of _my_ songs"........😄 Marcy Almond...."Marc got on the soul wagon, he took it to another level".........yeah sure......Just because you had a hit with one of Jones' songs ? "Marc the godfather of punk" ..sure ...whatever next....by then it was already widely accepted that title belonged to The Velvet Underground and The Stooges.....or the early Stones even..... Not to deny Marc's amazing and timeless '67 - '73 period ofcourse......
When I saw Marc for the first time I couldn't quite remember who he resembles to me, but later I got it - it's a Russian singer Vladimir Kuzmin)) who probably copied Marc's image )))
I've got most of Marc's vinyls and when he was John's children ❤Tom

Him seeing a concert of Ravi Shankar explains to me where he got his sitting acoustic, warbling, altered.consciousness inducing inspiration from.

Thanks !! It is actually not MY video it is a BBC4 DOC .
visconti seems to have been important to lots of kool singers...

Check out the Dandy in the Underworld bio, it's a good one.

Didn't love 'Dandy in the Underworld' that much but yeah, it was a tight band and good production.
Totally agree with you - Tanx was a real break-out and very under-rated...

By Peter Newell.
Get it On was a good song, maybe his best
Just like the rollers, but the fans got younger, where as,they were always young at the t rex concerts.
I loved him in the 70's. Hey wasn't all that...everyone loved me too.. I was so pretty... Two songs...wasn't the Beatles
Respect Marc's ONLY SON ROLAND! TEAM GLORIA! She gave him his private happiness. She wasn't a business arrangement!!!
"Steve doing the unspeakable thing"......"Let's do some of _my_ songs"........😄
Marcy Almond...."Marc got on the soul wagon, he took it to another level".........yeah sure......Just because you had a hit with one of Jones' songs ? Such a terrible tragedy. He never learnt to drive because he feared dying in a car crash. Unbelievable that's how he ended up passing away 💔
I always wondered why didn't drive
Some bs here but I still have my copies of GIO EW and 20thCB, that period will never come back. Boogie on.
When I saw Marc for the first time I couldn't quite remember who he resembles to me, but later I got it - it's a Russian singer Vladimir Kuzmin)) who probably copied Marc's image )))
the boogie king
If he hadnt been a pop star he would have been a manager/marketing man.
Veleno guitar - not many of those...
bought Debora single as a 6 year old with my spends. Hot love was next but la la break went on a bit too long.
Who was Gloria's husband? I want to know more about brother Richard too???
Who was the band in 9:32?
John's Children
:-)
xxx
the one hit wonder" bang " o gong " too bad he died young
He may have been that in the USA. He most certainly wasn’t at home ❤️
@@nightburgers3670 he twas huge here in the uk girls would get wet knickers over him esp all the girls i grew upwith they were mad to have a bit marc
One Hit Wonder???? Ahahahaaaa
Narrated by Suzi Quatro
I assume he was not wearing a seat belt?
Not sure it would have made much diff in a mini.
Did Bolan want to be a "teenage idol" really or more likely just a "rock star"? Well he got both i guess haha
on a par with Revolver??????......give it a rest Steve!!!!!
...and if he had never met that evil witch "backup singer", he'd still be alive today.
did she kill him thought crashed into a oak tree
Don't drink and drive.
I don't respect June at all! She aborted every baby Marc made!!! RESPECT MARC'S ONLY SON ROLAND!
Is he even dead?
Simon Cowell would say...what the bloody hell was that...and I would...folk music was abnoxious.
It all sounded the same
TOO BAD HE WAS SUCH A BAD BUSINESSMAN
i think marc bolans last hit was a oak tree
Mickey Finn the most useless appendage in rock history.........a true wannabe
Marc hired him more for his looks. Took was a far better percussionist.
Do you blame him?, a band wagon came along and he jumped on it.
Obsessed with being famous, 🤣🤣🤣 shallow
he had such an annoying voice
No it was original like the voice of a manchild 😺✨🎸😍very touching ✨💜🙏🐼😏do you think someone like Mick Jagger or Rod stewart had a better voice?😆🙄😫
