      Are you kidding me? Ollie has become a rocketship on a bike. But, watch out if you start over-doing it. You don't want to chunder after all that thunder.

    #GCN #GCNTech Ollie is a great rider and has caught far too much flack for the "getting dropped" event. Hammer on Ollie, we support you whole heartedly.

    Using some powerdrill-assistance on Swift helps :-)
    I've been trianing together with a couple of runners, on threadmills.
    They crushed me on there.
    But when I invited them on a couple of long trailruns, they just colapsed.
    "It's raining", "It's windy", "It's cold", "Their's roots and rocks all over...", "I've gotten a wet sock".
    Their is a difference between "café-training", even really hard café-training and real-life training.

      Yes, agree. So many zwift pros, particularly weighing about 30kgs flying up hills. Conor the zwift algorithm is broken for bigger riders mate, no way to compete. Real world is a different story, so many cheats in all forms of eSports.

    Brilliant. I'm way past my best (about 30 years ago I was our local club 12 hour champion) now nearer 60 I take it easy and am just a pretty average group c rider. The fact you can race in groups of similar capability on zwift is one of the best features imo and though I don't do many nowadays I do still do the odd race. Video's like this remind me what fun (despite the pain) racing is and might have to enter another one soon. Good work guys 🙂

      It's an 'in' joke. Possibly it resonated because the other presenters are all ex-pros, whereas Ollie is an ex-academic. Ollie would smash just about all of us. And he did manage to get 2nd place.

    Interested to know what your trainer difficulty was set at? Or does Zwift lock TD for these races? TD essentially flattens the hills though you need the same Wats to getup the hill but you can spin faster. Lots of discussions on forums about optimal TD settings for racing… perhaps this was a factor…?

    • @suisinghoraceho2403
      @suisinghoraceho2403 2 роки тому

      Oh, never heard of this. Is it a Zwift thing? I think a lot of old trainers (eg. My Wahoo 2) didn’t even have a way to recognise cadence unless you put an extra cadence sensor on.

    Like any competitive computer game 20% of the participants will be cheating when they are not playing in a controlled environment. The higher up the rankings, the more cheating goes on. Just something to keep in mind before reading too much into the results. Enjoy the racing, but take it all with a pinch of salt.

    • @suisinghoraceho2403
      @suisinghoraceho2403 2 роки тому

      I suppose the other factor is that most GCN presenters peak for summer while all the Zwift guys peak for winter. It is difficult to manage two peaks unless you are WVA or MVDP.

    • @waltblackadar4690
      @waltblackadar4690 2 роки тому +1

      Very much this. People hook up electric drills to their bikes to spin the wheels, purposely tinker with their bikes/trainers to miscalibrate them or find any other myriad ways to cheat. I see it on Zwift and I see it on Peloton. Doesn't bother me on Peloton but Zwift is meant to be competitive and watching someone pump out 500+W on average a 30 minute ride is simply insane.

    I’m not sure wtf road vs gravel bike when they are in a virtual world? I ride Zwift but I’ve never had a problem as I ride a mtb bike on Zwift because it looks cool. Is bike choice a serious thing on Zwift?

    • @jandl1jph766
      @jandl1jph766 2 роки тому

      Zwift factors in expected losses to rolling resistance, surface conditions and aerodynamic drag (including slipstream effects, unless you're using a TT bike) when calculating your "speed" from power and cadence. So yes, it does matter. If you care or not is a completely different question...
