I usually really dislike most songs with lyrics, as they are needless repetition of what happens everyday (or what shouldn't happen, if you think about Taylor Swift, yes, I'm looking at you, Blank Space.) Hmm, possibly. I didn't really think of it as echo because there was no delay, but I suppose it might be that function. I can hear it best when I compare her "serious" at 0:52-0:53 to "sun" at 0:58-0:59. It almost sounds like her voice shifted up an octave and layered over it. Is that the echo you're talking about?

While I already liked the song initially back when it came out, what I felt for it grew so much more meaningful and intense over time, especially the past year. I'm normally not too fond of things with lyrics, but these I somehow feel on a personal level, and singing them along feels so powerful. Today I listened to it again, singing the entire song by heart, and near the end, I suddenly felt tears spill. Your music is so incredible Thomas.

While I already liked the song initially back when it came out, what I felt for it grew so much more meaningful and intense over time, especially the past year. I'm normally not too fond of things with lyrics, but these I somehow feel on a personal level, and singing them along feels so powerful.
Today I listened to it again, singing the entire song by heart, and near the end, I suddenly felt tears spill.

I will also say it is cool that this song of his is in Trollhunters! The scenes this track is used in makes the scene so more impactfull! I tell you, goosbumps from the top of my head and down my whole spine right after the built up and when it hits the climax! (3:12).

Great song. Perfectly encapsulates the human condition. We are capable of awesome, but also horrible things. The 'Batman v Superman' film it was used on also stresses this point poignantly.

It's just that I feel that whenever I hear "We are the children of the sun," I think of us, the human race. We rely on the sun for everything. Without it, we wouldn't be here.
"Fighting and running from who we really are." Who are we really? Are we this complex society that works together globally toward the common good? No. We are animals. We used to just hunt and gather. And Kill each other. This was because fighting and competing against each other guaranteed the best humans. We are not the peaceful and civilized creatures we make ourselves out to be. There has been more war on this earth then peace. And now that there is (mostly) peace and "civilization" I feel as if we've lost our way. Although I don't know if we had a way to begin with.
"Flying too close to the sun as if we're invincible" I may be a minority opinion, but I feel as if we shouldn't be in space. It's just not a place that we were meant to be. That doesn't mean we shouldn't dream and attempt it. I just feel as if its not meant to be. However, it might be our only option at this point...
"We cannot dictate our fate of this world were living on." Kinda a true statement. We really can't anymore. The way we've decimated the world's resources and polluted the environment cannot really be undone. Even if we wanted to truly stop, we rely too much on fossil fuels.
"We go weaker as we exterminate" We have caused the extinction of many species that the planet has relied on for balance of ecosystems. Now that they're gone, human ecosystems have replaced them. Eventually, there will be no natural ecosystems left, save for those we attempt to "preserve."
"Knee deep in tragical fabrical issues everwhere" How many magazines are there of those damn Kardashians or Kanye West or Trump. How important are their "scandals?" They're not, but many seem attracted to their issues like flies to shit. And how many random killings or mugging or robberies are their out there? What happens about month after they've happened. They're forgotten by everyone except those that were involved.
Probably just being a little depressed here, but this is what I think this song can be interpreted as.

Its a little more optimistic than your focus. Maybe a lot more. If anything, it boasts our flaws as part of our greater, dynamic nature.
Don't worry, you aren't the only one who thinks this way, but in my opinion the "Flying too close to the sun as if we're invincible" is more related to the atomic technologies then to the space. In fact if we don't try to exit our solar system one day humanity may extinct definitely. Just because even the sun isn't "immortal". And then, why are you depressed ? Don't forget "we are the children of the sun ... always on the run" we have already accomplish many things but if we look objectively our civilisation is just too young, what is 1000 years compare to the life of the planet or a solar system ? Nothing ! Not even a particle of dust ! (sincerely I think that humanity start to grow up when we discover the science and that is not really "old" concept, the idea born few thousand years ago but the methods are few hundred years old). If you compare our civilisation to children you'll see that we haven't even exit the nursery school :D of course we have wars, of course we do mistakes ! We are only discovering the difference between good and bad, we are like a children who is growing alone. And anyway don't forget that "we are the chosen ones ... the children of the sun".

Well, technically it's "None Shall Live" that plays in Trollhunters. I think there was a disagreement between the writers over whether this song should have words or not and they eventually decided to release both versions
All I can imagine while listening to this is humanity uniting against an alien invader, their flags flying as one in defiance of a common foe, determined to preserve not only their world, but themselves. For we are all children of the sun.
