Boosting really helped some brands get noticed in the urban community
Facts
Ya. I’m sure that’s what Ralph Lauren was going for
In Australia, our "hood style" (called eshay or lad) evolved from people shoplifting the most expensive brands they could. This is why they wear nike tn's with ralph lauren polo shirts.

That’s late 90’s…my brother used to rack triple fat goose & starter jackets back in 90! We in Bushwick/Ridgewood NY at that time
its so crazy how ny and sf sound so similar even down to the face besides the accent its like listening to one of the homies
Its bananas you said that. I'm from SoCal and traveled up to the bay. I was like, where the f&ck am I at, New York. It's truly a different vibe from So.Cal, clothing, cars, and weather..
@@DanielWinston-z8l it’s a weird comparison but when you think about hey Arnold you can’t really tell if it’s in NY in SF or in Seattle but apparently it’s amalgamation of them all. It’s just wild to think there’s different versions of the same things going on everywhere.
Rackin was one of my favorite past times.. I took it all. You name it I boosted it. Not glorifying anything in a positive light.. just gettin money as well as flexin at that time. Times was tough Chicago Rackin back in tha 90’s.Rackin paint from franks nursery and crafts and shit..

Crazy , so much effort for just coats

My first north face was the bottom one in the first pic,I bought it in my pops friend's shop that's a clothes/smoke shop/ unofficial homeless tea and coffee center, and he did so well between the early 90s with the whole rave thing here in Ireland right up to the recession in 2008 so he had some insane stock over the years some real some fakes some literally off the back of a truck and you could hardly walk down the shop with all the clothes and fuckin bongs and just everything and it's like 2012 and north face here in Ireland wasn't as big as it is now and i had seen them in graff movies and picture books and anytime I found one to buy they were always new design for like mountain climbing durable elbow pads etc, I wanted something to look fly but paint in and by chance i had asked my pops friend did he have any low and behold out comes that exact design and colour, 50 euro had it until maybe 5-6 years ago..... Now they everywhere super black and futurist slick aerodynamic design is the prevalent choice of style or the north face tracksuit and always tight... Nah baggy is better and you look dope rockin it
Hope this guy got into Graff cos if your good a racking your gonna get up in graff

Dudes feel good telling stories of how they stole like bums
Wearing expensive clothes you stole defeats the purpose of expensive clothes.
false
You keep giving your money to huge corporations then and let the rest of us get on with business.
You can pay for that expensive shit like a sucker
Your teaching how to shop lift Disgraceful real gangsters move in silence
this has nothing to do with being a gangster - especially when back in the 1990s real gangsters were shooting people broad daylight or getting put in a box themselves. now boosting was the thing to do as kids + teens as we were poor
but you obviously still live at home with your parents - probably "the bosses son" + think your better than everyone else
Yeah I don’t get the gangster comment. This is about kids jacking stuff from the stores… it’s what a lot of us poor kids did back in the day. I used to steal everything from candy to clothes to baseball cards. Stole bikes, broke into arcade games to steal the quarters or tokens, snuck in the movie theaters without paying. Am I proud of it? No but not ashamed either… I was a kid that was poor and did things to come up on money and items. I’m a grown ass man today and have a successful career and once I turned 18 I stopped stealing and haven’t broke the law since and I’m in my 40’s now. lol it was just us being kids back in the day doing shit that most poor kids did growing up in the ghetto. I mean at least we weren’t out robbing people and hurting people. Stealing is just petty stuff. I really couldn’t care less if people are stealing from stores today, as long as they aren’t robbing regular people or stealing from them then I really don’t mind.
Boosting north face jackets... 🫢 Culture... 😂 sorry i couldn't resist
