as an Indonesian, i never imagined Batagor is sold in a fancy restaurant in the UK. For me, it is a street food dish that i choose to buy when i'm really broke.
🤓 Well iy should be sold in more places because its absolutely delicious 😋
@@Bufflunch yeah, and the batagor served in that restaurant probably has more high quality ingredients compared to the one i used to have. So fair enough. But, i prefer Ayam Penyet as daily staple food. Batagor is just a brunch, or pre-dinner meal, eaten while you get bored waiting for bus on the sidewalk after work.

As Indonesian sometimes we complained about everything, wheater, polutions, corruptions, government, system, taxes, i could list all day long what we ve been complained for.... But one thing we dont complain, the foods .. I cant imagine how indonesian could move to other country without drooling when they remember the foods.... Indonesian food is the best 👍

in Indonesia cheese is used for sweet foods almost never used for salty food maybe only fried chicken and there is no main food ingredient made from cheese Indonesian main dishes are mostly made from spices, and avocado is also not used for food but for drinks such as juice or mixed ice, because basically avocado is a fruit not a vegetable, I was quite surprised when western people eat avocado in a different way and mix it with food like in Japan avocado is also considered a vegetable makes me very surprised. But suddenly realized that we are very diverse and different, this is very interesting, right?

As an indonesian, I grew up in Germany. And I love central European food.
I can't appreciate my own country's cuisine until I was 24, because many of them contains herbs, salty, spicy and greasy. It takes time to love them, and once you do you can't get enough 😂
We absolutely loved it all. And yes maybe for some people it takes time to fall in love with it but once they do its a deep love 😝❤️

As an Indonesian, who often eats ayam penyet as lunch, it's weird to see "ayam penyet" in which the chicken is not actually "dipenyet" (smashed and pressed) 😅. And the Gado-Gado which looks pretty. But then again, of course it is in a restaurant, it would not look like street food in Indonesia.

Ah, the mugs are so "indonesian". Usually we also have that chicken mug, white mug with rooster painting. So typical Indonesian. Good video.
Also kopi susu is also similar to Vietnamese caphé su da (mipk coffee). Slight different since in Vietnam they use robusta coffee, in Indonesia each coffee place has its own recipe, some use blend coffee.

As Indonesian I still amazed how our ancestor mixed and created the magical taste. Sometimes it's just popped up in their head and just a blink of an eye becomes the food. Well, the coffee shop need to add the black coffee added with the Charcoal. I'm sure that's weird but amazing.

The richness of Indonesian food is coming from mixing a lot of things in one dish. We can't imagine Indonesian food without sambal, fried crispy shallot as sprinkle, etc and those bring the aroma.

you must try indonesian foods:
chicken satay (sate ayam),
nasi goreng (fried rice)
rendang (indonesian beef style, no 1 CNN survey best food in the world)
you must try indonesian drinks:
jus alpukat (avocado juice with choco condensed milk)
es teler / es ccampur (indonesian style of sweet soup of mix fruits and some condensed milk/coconut milk)
by the way, indonesian taste is more of coconut 😂
