Wow. I have been working on old CV consoles for ages and have never seen one or the controllers in such horrible condition. Good work! LONG LIVE COLECO VISION!
Now Im on the look out for one of these lol. When I was a Kid we had a 2600 but a friend of mine had one of these and I was amazed how good some of the games looked....
Hey buddy nice restoration video! When you soak the rusty stuff in vinegar don't add baking soda, it neutralizes this acetic acid which you need to disolve the rust. Also the chlorides in the baking soda are going to promote rust.
¡Excelente, te quedó como nueva, y aún mejorada, con esa luz verde de encedido que la original ColecoVision no tenía! Yo tuve esta máquina en 1984, junto a una Atari VCS, y puedo decir que fue muy buena para su época. ¡Saludos cordiales!
Awesome video, looks so much better. Learned a few things about restoration with watching you video, and I'm in the middle of trying to clean up a Colecovision myself. Found one in the dump with a couple of controllers but no PSU. Ordered a new one which ended up being expensive but seems like it's worth it. Where did you find that shiny cardstock? It looks great :)
I love that restoration and f zero too. I think I wish you were my neighbour. I have to clean contact of my colecovision, but I do not know if the graphic problem comes from corrosion/dirt or from vram....
Great video mate. I have just set mine up after been in storage for 20+ years but the picture is flickering/different colours. Gutted lol I am hoping the AV connection inside the computer is just a little loose and nothing more.
Once i saw that motherboard being only halve that size, i was like WHAT THE FUCK,why could coleco not just have make that console just halve that big by saving a tone of plastic, all just for that stupid dignifying storage compartment? Just unbelievible. But apart from that’s a great restoration😁
Just had to comment on the controller , the board in your controller was mean to have a wheel control like the super action controller but they only made a few prototypes. You can see pictured on the board where is says “spin” that is the location where the wheel was supposed to be
You've could park a truck in there with all that empty space. I'm having trouble with the fire button on one controller. The button switch works and I've got continuity from the switch all the way down from the fire button down the wires at the bottom of the controller and continuity in all the wires down the connector. Any ideas?
Maybe the switch is stuck or making permanent continuity, I’ve had a similar problem with my car key actually the video is on my channel maybe the controller button is experiencing a similar fault. But I’ve never had a problem like on my coleco controllers before. Also a side note, with 5200 controllers the carbon contacts deteriorate over time and you have to add some carbon paint to get them to engage. Maybe you need to add a dab of carbon paint to the contacts of the controller flex board.
@@PunkNDisorderlyGamer that fire button is pretty much the same piece of equipment as the power switch just a little smaller. Take it apart just like you would the power switch and clean, polish, and lube it up and it will work like new. They used the same grease and it’s all 40 years old now. A lot of bad systems or controllers have dirty switches to blame. Clean them all and bring them back to life
@@PunkNDisorderlyGamer We all started somewhere. You did fixed it and restore it the best you could. I found your video as I need to do a restore on mine.
Picture looks awesome for the old RF channel connection

Thank you! I did mine right along with you. I’ve had this since I was a little girl and it needed a good cleaning.
Great video. So amazed at how a neglected, almost 40 year old system can still rock. Your camera work was fantastic!
Now Im on the look out for one of these lol. When I was a Kid we had a 2600 but a friend of mine had one of these and I was amazed how good some of the games looked....
That RF output is surprisingly crisp. Job well done, mostly needed some elbow grease, surprisingly painless.
Yeah it wasn’t too bad, this was my first video and I didn’t go too crazy.
Holy jebus, shows how that vintage stuff was built to last like a tank- all that neglect and rust/water damage and she STILL powered up!?
Breathing new life in old vidja games is so rewarding

Nice work! From an old ColecoVision fan.

I actully just got two colecovisions and am using this to clean mine up ty
This is a really great video, keep up the good content
Thanks a lot

My mother had it from years ago, not sure where she bought it. Thanks for watching good luck on your console.
nice video. I worry about your soldering, however. Some look like a cold solder joint which can be a source of frustration for you later.
Thanks for the watch yeah this was my first video. I’m glad you enjoyed it none-the-less.

Yeah it’s been a long time since I worked on colecovisions. I could be many things I suppose. If we were neighbors would you invite me for barbecue?
@@PunkNDisorderlyGamer no doubt I invite you for barbecue and some 2 players coleco and Nintendo games
@@Alinktome haha thanks.

Actually a better way to clean is using deionized or distilled water
This is an old console in competition with the Atari 2600 console. One of my friends had this type console while I had the Atari 2600.
Atari had more games and had name recognition, while coleco had a later release with better hardware.
Just had to comment on the controller , the board in your controller was mean to have a wheel control like the super action controller but they only made a few prototypes. You can see pictured on the board where is says “spin” that is the location where the wheel was supposed to be
I bet you can connect a potentiometer and wire it up.

Damn, that turned out great!!
You picked the first video to watch lmfao this is the most cringiest one. Episode 43 I’m more proud of.
I was just getting the hang of recording and shooting video plus I was learning to use a soldering iron and other tools
@@PunkNDisorderlyGamer I love the video, got to check out more now lol

I love the Portuguese table cloth and I was wondering about the accent. You’ve gotta be from the Toronto area. Am I right?
It’s a NJ accent but I am Portuguese yes hence the table cloth.
I Clear Coat my RF Shields to add just a little more protection.
This was my first video I didn’t really know how it would turn out. Looking back I’m not really excited how this turned out.
@@PunkNDisorderlyGamer We all started somewhere. You did fixed it and restore it the best you could. I found your video as I need to do a restore on mine.
Surprised you didn't do an A/V mod in there too.
Maybe next time I get another colecovision. I didn’t have the kit on hand at the time and this was my first video.
i wish i still had my Colecovision. I swear it's at my parent's house, but we can't find it. I guess my brother threw it away.
Why add baking soda? That just neutralizes the acidity of the vinegar.
I saw it somewhere. I don’t remember.
@@PunkNDisorderlyGamer well, was still a really good video.

Know anyone online to pay to clean/repair these?
Poor man's helping hands. Tape it to a piece of cardboard
Why not remove the sticker BEFORE cleaning the case!
