To give you a bit of context regarding the beer situation: The catering company that is hired by Wuppertaler SV messed up. They need the mentioned licence (granted by the city of Wuppertal). They are working on it for a few weeks now but are unable to get it for some unknown reason. So no it is not about sunday, the league or anything like that, it is just a "local fuck up" that lead to them not being able to sell any alcohol
@@tombecker6790 Exactly, Wuppertal just as we know it. :D This is really embarrassing for the catering company and for our club as well: Hiring a new company not even capable of taking care of its core business in a German football stadium, in other words pouring out loads of beer and frying loads of Bratwursts, especially being well prepared for the rush during half time. Apparently, there was no rush this time as there was no beer available. This could have been the very first time an English football UA-camr couldn't get a beer inside the stadium during a German 4th tier match! There are English football fans coming to Germany who appreciate the most that you can still watch a football game on standing terraces with a beer in their hand and (for some) still being allowed to smoking cigarettes inside the stadium for relatively moderate ticket prices in Germany. Even though I think ticket prices in German football aren't that moderate anymore compared to about 15 years ago, even though WSV was still part of the newly introduced 3. Liga back then. I feel really sorry for Ry as he literally got a 'cheeky glimpse' ;) of why our hometown club has such an ambiguous reputation even in the city itself, not to mention all these Bundesliga sides in this area of Germany...at least the guy sitting next to you (Thomas, maybe the user above I'm referring to?) seemed to be a likeable person. It would also have been a nice opportunity for the club to take note of Ry's announcement to come to the Stadion am Zoo and showing him a bit of the inside of the stadium by a nice and friendly person prior to the game in order to to try to regain some confidence back after decades of almost constant disappointment. Not just in the city of Wuppertal, but also in the UK, the whole European mainland and worldwide. Ry is approaching 30k subscribers which is still a quite remarkable number and this channel will probably get more and more attention within the next months. So the club could have showcased itself a bit for free(!), especially in these difficult times for the club. Another missed opportunity...
To be honest, there is a general ban on alcohol in the Regionalliga West. However, clubs can apply for exceptions, which are always approved (typically German). This is the chorus of a song called 'Et Lehnchen', written and recorded by a local band called 'Striekspöen' a few decades ago who used to sing their songs in an old dialect once spoken by a lot of people in and around Wuppertal. WSV fans like to put their scarves out to sing this probably best-known song about the city. It can look quite impressive when Wuppertal has an away match with a really packed away end with a number of let's say 2.000 or even more and everyone puts his or her scarf out to sing it out with quite a bit noise! But a real decent number of away fans like this or even more from Wuppertal is very rare nowadays in the 4th tier as long as we're not REALLY near the top of the table aka promotion except for big cup matches or derby days in Essen, promoted to the 3rd tier not too long ago in 2022. The song itself is about a girl ('Lehnchen' gets understood as the diminutive of a female name in German) everyone knows and likes and who's living right next to the 'Tippen-Tappen-Tönchen' which is the name of the most famous staircase in Wuppertal with a very quirky name even in German, but it's the actual and an official street name on the maps and a postal address anyway. A little background: Wuppertal is the city with the most stairways in Germany due to its location in a valley bottom, hence the name Wuppertal (which translates to 'Wupper valley' in English or the old word 'dale' just like for Rochdale afaik which even doesn't sound that difficult to the German word). Anyway, it's more about the city itself and less about the girl... :D And, most importantly, probably no single person outside of Wuppertal in Germany would be able to understand it completely as the original version was recorded in the dialect spoken in Wuppertal. It's quite a challenge to speak and understand this dialect, so it's rarely fully spoken today, so even most of the Wuppertal fans are singing it in Standard German, or something in between... :D

Absolutely loved this! Wish I could have joined you. Next time you happen to be in the area, let me know and let's try to meet up! Would love that! The cable car is called Die Schwebebahn, really iconic in Wuppertal
The german word for it is "Schwebebahn" Meaning "Hovering/Floating train" Fun fact: It was opened all the way back in 1901! It was the only way to build a "subway" system in the area cause the city lies in a valley so there was no space for an actual train line and its also on top of sturdy rock and digging into that was also deemed impossible. so building this system mostly above the river was a genius idea.. Regarding the alcohol.. youre right, this was considered a "high-risk" game so alcohol was not available THIS match.. usually it is in every stadium in germany. You dont even need a special license to sell alcohol and sunday has no impact on that either.. what we used to do for these high risk matches was smuggling in spirits like rum or whisky in small amounts and mix with the available coke.. so youd have a nice long drink instead of a beer while watching the match

Fun Facts: They dropped part of their name. Wuppertaler SV (Spielvereinigung = Playing Association) merged in 2004 with another Wuppertal based Club called SV Borussia Wuppertal in the same league, creating "Wuppertaler SV Borussia". Many claimed it was a hostile takeover, as the club did not change colours or badge, just adding the word "Borussia" and signing two of their players. 2013 they got rid of the "Borussia" part after a supporters vote. // The club itself has some history, going from First League in the 50s and partially 70s down to fifth division and up to third again, nearly missing qualifiyng for 2. Bundesliga several times. 1999 they were even relegated because of not paying Employer's liability insurance contributions.
Since you are from Hereford, there is also a city called Herford near Bielefeld. There are even British Army Bases in Paderborn, which isnt too far from Herford. What a coincidence. Maybe do some groundhopping there haha.

@@RysFootyParadiseIt was a tense match, but the atmosphere was with respect, not just hatred, though I do not know how it is now. I remember I could only get a Stehplatz on the day at the stadium.
The German name of the train is Schwebebahn, which translates to “levitated train”. The railway was built at the end of the 19th century to meet the transportation needs of the industrial towns of Elberfeld and Barmen (Wuppertal as a city was not founded until 1928). Before the game you should definitely have taken the "Schwebebahn" a few stops, it's a unique experience! Nur der WSV!
Since you seem to be interested in old school stadiums in GER, you can try out Uerdingen's Grotenburg some day. Btw you missed out the Hoheluftstadion in Hamburg last week when going to Altona 93 in the AJ-Kampfbahn.
I was at the game and some friends of mine have smuggled little bottles of Vodka and Jägermeister and mixed it with the softdrinks to avoid the beer problem 😂
I went there last season on my way to watching City in Leipzig, it had been on my bucket ĺist for years. The 'cable car' is the Schwebebahn and is a great way to get to the ground. To the person who said the Allianz is better - not if you are into the history, soul and spirit of football - it's just different, unless of course you are a Bayern fan or a plastic glory hunting tourist !
I'm sorry to say that, but that's bullshit. Bayern is much more traditional than most other german clubs. Only haters would say Bayern is a "plastic club", because the club is the biggest traditional football club in whole Germany. They builded it all by themself, were the "small and poor club" in Munich at first and have brought legends over legends from the club's history. So don't fall for the hater-sayings. Everyone who says Bayern is a plastic club has not a clue from football and his history. ✊
@@jimboninho You should read what he actually wrote. He talked about the stadium, not the club. And the Allianz Arena is a very modern stadium that attracts a lot of tourists and glory hunters, there is no denying it. Most hardcore Bayern fans would probably agree wit the statement.
F.Y.I - if you walk past the red and white barriers that are to be seen around the 5min mark, after like 200m you will cross a footbridge that is build directly over the tiger enclosure of the zoo. If you are lucky you can observe some tigers to your left and some zoo visitors to your right.

Wuppertal SV vs MSV Duisburg - Wuppertal best in 1973 as 4th in German Bundesliga and Duisburg runner-up in Geman Bundesliga in 1964. Once upon a time....
So the "Wuppertaler H*rensöhne" chant is used not only by Duisburg but by almost everyone playing them. Only a few others come to my mind that have their own chant against them german wide. Of course Bayern with "zieht den Bayern die Lederhosen aus" or the Leverkusen one (feel free to look that one up, some people think it might be homophobic). Werder seem to smell like fish and Schalkes name is often confused with the German word for shit. WSV answered with "Meidericher H*rensöhne", Meiderich being the part of Duisburg that MSV is from (M in MSV is for Meiderich). Funny thing about Wuppertal: they are friends with Fenerbahce so other teams (at least ive seen Essen do it. MSV might aswell sing it) like to sing "Ihr seid nur Dönerverkäufer" meaning "you are only Kebab sellers".
Allianz Arena is just another plastic Event Arena which only was build to make more money and of course more and more money. No Soul, no history, no atmosphere. And on top of it, its in fcking bavaria...which is more austrian than german anyway.
@@geronimo4592 And what's the problem with plastic? At least the Allianz Arena is covered, you don't get sick when it rains. So you want to stand in the rain and get sick, go ahead. I'd rather have a great modern stadium. The Allianz Arena is the most beautiful in Germany, followed by the Veltins Arena.
You just cannot compare such modern arena with an old traditional sports ground. I also like our modern arena in Düsseldorf...but these stadiums like the one in Wuppertal are definitely more charming...

Absolutely loved this! Wish I could have joined you. Next time you happen to be in the area, let me know and let's try to meet up! Would love that! The cable car is called Die Schwebebahn, really iconic in Wuppertal
I should have spotted there are no cables 😅🚟 yes deffo I’ll give you a shout 👍🏾
These are your best ones so smashed the thumb and long subscribed.
legend! Had great fun making these videos 😀
The german word for it is "Schwebebahn"
Meaning "Hovering/Floating train"
Fun fact:
It was opened all the way back in 1901!
Suspension railway
Thanks for the info 😊👍🏾 much appreciated!
That church was in one of the earliest movies with Daniel Brühl in the main role, called „nichts bereuen“ he was cleaning the leafs from the sidewalk causing an accident throwing away the broom.
As you’re going to Berlin, don’t forget to check out the DDR museum. Really interesting about everything East Berlin. That’s if you have spare time. Also, I hope you explore the city as the football stadiums.
you finally experienced Duisburg! (even though it was not the most beautiful game ever played)
wish you could have stayed for after the game, that was definetly the highlight
Was there as well, altough I hope this was the last away game in Wuppertal for us in a long time 🦓🤍💙
you'll be tearing it up in the 3. Liga next season 😉👏🏼🍻 Promotion ready
You have to come to a msv homegame next 🙂 i would like to meet you up and Show you around a bit
Sounds gut 👍🏾
Interesting to know! Thanks for that 😊👍🏾
Minute 4:40. In corona times we stood there and watched the games 😄
🤣👍🏾
Awesome!
To make it short, you are Great!!
Ah by the way Arminia Bielefeld is the Best!!!!!

Nur der MSV! 🤍💙
Looked a very interesting ground. Cheers.
Less is more, this stadium is spectacular with the beautiful surroundings and the bratwurst looks great.
Couldn't agree more! Great experience there 🤩🌭
You cant buy beer bcs. Some games are called "hochrisikospiele" wich means games, where it most likely to have clashes between the fans
We call it Schwebebahn = Suspension Railway my friend
Thanks 👍🏾
The Zoo is surely not closed on sunday
😏
would prefer watching this game than 90% of current champions league games. good old real football
Fully agree mate 😊
Enjoyed that one mate👍
Glad you enjoyed it mate - do you prefer the lower league stuff?
@@RysFootyParadise I enjoy the lower leagues and non glamour teams in the higher divisions👍
Since you are from Hereford, there is also a city called Herford near Bielefeld. There are even British Army Bases in Paderborn, which isnt too far from Herford. What a coincidence. Maybe do some groundhopping there haha.
Oh stark Herford ist geil da bin ich oft 👍
I saw that when driving to Hannover 😅 Hereford is a bit of a fallen club
In Berlin: Viktoria and TEB are well worth visiting as well as the more obvious Hertha and Union.
lots of historic clubs there, Germany 1888, BFC Dynamo, etc 😊 I'm at Hertha the Friday and hopefully Union the Saturday v Bochum but if no luck with tickets I'll support a small local team 🤩
BFC Germania 1888****
In the Regionalliga the bigger clubs like Duisburg, Oberhausen, Wuppertal or Fortuna Köln are professionals. The smaller clubs are mixed mostly. So it's not exactly non league. But I get were you were going with it. Great game you visited last Sunday.
It worked for a UA-cam title 😉😉
Visit Sc Preußen Münster. Now you still have the Chance to visit the oldest Football Stadium in Germany. In 2 years the Stadium is new so its a Chance
I will deffo come to Münster - I am also watching them play Hertha at the Olympiastadion next month 🤩 (Bochum freundschaft)
@ May we See und in Berlin then
I was there for a derby game against RW Essen 20 years ago. It was nice experience.
Ooo bet that was a tasty game! Fans hate each other? 😬
@@RysFootyParadiseIt was a tense match, but the atmosphere was with respect, not just hatred, though I do not know how it is now. I remember I could only get a Stehplatz on the day at the stadium.
❤💙
Cool video👍🏽Can you come to SSVg Velbert?
I’m sure I’ll be there 😊 will get to EVERY German stadium ❤️🇩🇪
Visist Sportfreunde Siegen next time they play 5th Division in a 20k Stadium and they played 2nd Division years ago
Next time I definitely will 🤩 🚠
Since you seem to be interested in old school stadiums in GER, you can try out Uerdingen's Grotenburg some day. Btw you missed out the Hoheluftstadion in Hamburg last week when going to Altona 93 in the AJ-Kampfbahn.
I’ll be back 😉👍🏾 and also will check out Uerdingen
I was at the game and some friends of mine have smuggled little bottles of Vodka and Jägermeister and mixed it with the softdrinks to avoid the beer problem 😂

Come to Rostock next Week...FC HANSA vs Arminia Bielefeld, on Saturday in the Ostseestadion!🙃😊
Super 👍
If you like wonderful amateur stadiums, I can suggest you Meppen and Erfurt 🤝
I will definitely visit those 😊
I went there last season on my way to watching City in Leipzig, it had been on my bucket ĺist for years. The 'cable car' is the Schwebebahn and is a great way to get to the ground. To the person who said the Allianz is better - not if you are into the history, soul and spirit of football - it's just different, unless of course you are a Bayern fan or a plastic glory hunting tourist !
I can appreciate both - but this is why we love the lower leagues - old skool and gritty yet charming and beautiful all at the same time 🤩
That‘s it😊
I'm sorry to say that, but that's bullshit.
@@jimboninhoThat’s what Bayern would like to be😂🎉
@@jimboninho You should read what he actually wrote.
Ohh I missed an opportunity there 🙈🐯
Culture, like Zoos, gas stations and restaurants are not closed on Sunday.
I had a "Bratwurst" in a milkbread(?!) in the Tottenham Stadium (NFL Game). The Wurst was REALY awful. It was the first time I ate a Bratwurst that wasnt tasting good. Didnt even knew it was possible

Wuppertal SV vs MSV Duisburg - Wuppertal best in 1973 as 4th in German Bundesliga and Duisburg runner-up in Geman Bundesliga in 1964. Once upon a time....

Paderborn😊
Naughty 😅😬
Dunno why, but cablecar? Cables? Don't see any. This is a monorail, mate.
My bad ❤️
In case you did not understand what this small group of MSV fans sang on their march..."Wuppertaler sons of bi..." 😊
