Very fruitful discussion done by Bhai sahab. It all makes sense that the world conflicts and the climate change this planet is suffering today are proof of human detachment from its spiritual source.
Bhai sahib has beautifully explained how we ended up here and the way to go back to being a complete human is again through spiritual growth.
We are badly suffering from consumerism and materialism today. I think that we need to form support groups with families of young children to start to come out of it.

Thank you Bhai Ajmer Singh for your illuminating discourse on the birth of modernity.
I would just like to recapitulate your major points
    1) By modernity we mean not only technology and science, or shopping malls, and highways etc, but also new systems of knowledge, new epistemologies, and ways of interpretation
    2) Humans are considered to be superior than animals because they have a fully developed mind. They can think, ponder, and make important decisions animals can't. They are innovative.
    3) In primitive societies man held Divine order above reason, and exercised self-control to live in harmony with this order. Religious doctrines came into existence to regulate these societies. Self effacement, modesty, communal solidarity were the traits of this age. Miracles also happened. Animals lacked this capability.
    4) In the 15th/16th Christianity underwent a spiritual decline. Apostasy, heresy, the Spanish inquisition, persecution of Muslims, Jews, and Christians by Catholics, dogma of the church, and self appointed priests who claimed they held the ticket to paradise, these were some of major incidents of this period
    5) Then Martin Luther, a man lacking the spiritual qualities of his predecessors, makes an unwise decision to separate the Church from state. There is also confusion over the authenticity of the Bible. This is the period of the Protestant reformation. This leads to the European wars of religion between prots and cats. Luther sowed the seeds of modern democracy and secularism.
    6) Science would deal a heavy blow to religious belief that the earth is the center of the universe. Copernicus and Galileo would discover that the earth orbits the sun, and not the sun that orbits the earth.
    6) The 17th century rationalist Rene Descart separates mind from body, subject from object, placing man (the subject) outside the world of objects. The essence of the mind is thought. All external objects including the body, sensations, emotions, can be understood in terms of mechanistic principles or by logic. Though Descartes was a believer in God, his theories would privilege thought/logic over spirituality, and create a schism between man and nature
    7) Diesm would develop these ideas further. God is no longer an intervening God, only a Being who created the world and gifted man with the power of reason to understand and conquer it. God is outside the world, and man's relationship with God is therefore a private affair.
    8) With Reason as the guide and not God it was finally decided to take God out of public life and create sovereign states that were secular and democratic. With the signing of the Westphalia Treaty of 1658 the European wars of religion were finally brought to end. Europe could progress
    9) The Westphalian state was a precursor to the modern nation state. The industrial Revolution in the 18th century would trigger capitalism, new social institutions, means of communication, factories, greater centralization, which brought people together into nations. Agricultural societies gave way to industrial societies - the big cities. Feudalism was superseded by capitalism. Religious fervour had died, chivalry was disappearing. Nation states begin to emerge from multi-ethnic/lingual states, the national identity was held above all other identities.
    10) Kant, building on Descartes logic, introduces his 'categorical imperative'. He privileges reason over aesthetics. We perceive the world with our cognitive faculties, eyes, ears, noise, tongue, and have a subjective experience. We than use logic/reason to conceptualise what we've experienced. Kant argues all such experiences are universal - and not particular to individuals, e.g all agree that apples are sweet and lemons are bitter. From these observations universal categories are derived. Kant calls this subjective universalism. Everything is knowable. Relativists would later argue against this
    11) Hegal rationalizes religion, God is understood not by intuition but reason. He is an impersonal god. As a Protestant he considers the deistic form of Christianity to be the most exalted of faiths, because it has grasped God and nature by Reason, making it the most spiritually advanced. Christian theology is produced. Besides monotheism, he also creates the (universal) categories of polytheism and pantheism for African and Asian religions, ranking them at the bottom.
    12) The general category of 'Religion' is created to describe all religions, and must fit into Hegel's schema.
    13) The old religious rivalries which resulted in bloodshed have given way to capitalist competition between nations. Capitalism can only thrive by expansion and revolutionising it's means of production. Science and technology must also keep pace with capitalism to build railways, trains machines etc, and once Europe has established it's markets, it must colonize other lands to establish markets and exploit resources. New means of communication are set up, the world begins to shrink as interaction between nations increases
    14) Civilisation would lead to a new bloodshed - Imperial wars.
    14) To regulate society capitalists establish their own laws, legal system
    15) Marx gives his theory on dialect tical materialism. All history is the history of class struggle. History can be described in terms of abstract social and economic forces. The subject has been suppressed. Socialism follows capitalism, therefore colonialism/civilization is justified to advance history. (Mao would later prove otherwise)
    16) Neitsche declares God is dead and introduces his philosophy of the ubermensche or the all powerful superman. With no Divine creator or morals to guide man, this could lead to nihilism. (Levinas argues that's Neitsches individualism is responsible for many crimes committed by Europeans)
    17) Individualism and self preservation replace self-effacememt and collectivism.
    18) A new body of knowledge is produced which totalizes all knowledge. Hence differences are erased and universal ideas take their place.
    19) This knowledge creates binary opposites and a power relationship. West over East, Rational over Irrational, Black over white, Civilized over uncivilised, Majority over minority, Fundamentalist over Secular, National over anti-national. Differences are not tolerated, they must be subordinated or erased.

Under Taker were you present while all this happening? if yes, instead posting this as a comment you should provide solution to this habit? Although, i have seen all in this in western country. This is a common habit with people who developed this habit while there were no other way to go through different pages. i hope you will come up with some type of solution to this common practice and win some place in history for contribution? Better be positive not find fault.
