That’s Right ! You are Spot on ❤️😊and I Agree 💯 I Love ❤️ the Video . And That’s Why I Likes Taemin So Much . I Really Vibes his Style of Dance . International and Global Fandom ( Taemint ) / SHawol . 💎
i love his audition story: when taemin was auditioning at the open audition the staff told them to not cross the yellow line on the floow and dance behind the line, little taemin, as the rebel he is, crossed that line as soon as the dancing started and that act impressed the judges and made them think “that’s the kind of people we are looking for” happy birthday to our maknae and the greatest dancer king of kpop taemin 🎉
And since he has crossed thousand of yellow lines and boundaries people set for him to reach where he is now... our baby knows he got to cross those lines to become big😂😂😂
Taemin can do just about anything he wants with dance. What I love about him is that: 1) He taught himself how to dance beginning at age 9/10 by copying MJ and other favorites in his mirror, then extrapolated that early self-training into what he has become today. 2) He's very experimental. He loves to try new genres and then take bits and pieces to create his own signature style. This is why I think he is the best dancer in Kpop, because I haven't seen any other artist pull off such a self-created dancing style that is recognized as a genre unto itself like Taemin. As for SHINee, they are my ult group, and even they have said in an interview that it has always been Taemin who has pushed and challenged them constantly by always demanding more from their choreos. This actually made them all excel in their dancing. Taemin also regularly tweaks SHINee's and SuperM's choreos by adding more details making the choreos more eye-catching and unique. All the SHINee brothers can dance extremely well. Key is the next best dancer in the group, but his and Taemin's style are quite different. Key is more abrupt and powerful in his movements within SHINee and as a soloist. However, Taemin is always adjusting his style on the fly. With SHINee, he blends in seamlessly, but is also easily recognized for his extreme fluidity (now, thanks to you, I know where that comes from...lol). With SuperM, he's much more powerful, but that same liquid fluidity is still with him which makes him look much more elegant to the discerning eye. In his solo work, he has always said he dances according to how he is feeling at that moment while immersing himself into the character in the song. In this way he is always adding little -- but important -- details on the fly while also making it new every time. This is also a key reason why others find it so hard to cover him, because the choreo is ever changing. Lastly Taemin always follows through with the movements which is something I also don't see many others do. Thanks so much for this very informative and interesting video!
You are the only kpop dance analyst who actually knows what you are talking about. The effort you put in your videos to explain things as simple as possible is very appreciated😊.
This is a great and detailed analysis. One of the subtle things I love that Taemin does is he is very particular about when he faces forward/faces the camera. Because he's not always so front-facing he looks so much more absorbed in what he's doing. It gives an impression that he is moving for the love of the song and for himself as opposed to for others. It also gives him a bit of a mysterious air as he discussed on MMTG a while back. It's a small thing but is very noticeable once you start looking for it and then watch other idols
I actually love Shinee as a dance group. Onew, Minho and Jonghyun are competent non-dance line members, Taemin is one of the best (THE best in my opinion) dancers in kpop (maybe in the world), Key could be a main dancer in most groups (including 4th gen) and their choreographies are always great
I think Taemin changed his style since he worked with Koharu he become more "stylistic". And he's not only stand out for his dancing we can Say he is a full package, he's also an amazing vocalist. So it's a perfect combo
Thank you for being one of the only kpop focused dance channels that genuinely knows the root of styles, and gives examples of OG dancers and modern experts in their field (shout out to the Nelson clip!!!) Taemin has long been one of my favorite dancers in kpop, along with Wang Yibo, because their passion for the craft and respect for dance as an art medium is so apparent in their work, down to the briefest choreography for a UA-cam short. Thank you for making these videos!!
The phrase "groove is in the heart" (cr. Lady Miss Kier) explains in the simplest terms what makes Taemin the exquisite dancer and performer that he is. He dances from the groove in his heart, in the moment, embodying the totality of the music. Add the fact that he virtually never loses his center of balance, and maintains an ideal head to spine coordination. This makes him a world-class dancer and a sheer joy to watch.
@@jazmine9429how is he stiff? I feel like people just throw around words because the last thing professional dancers called him is stiff. He's very fluid and flexible. That's literally what he's known for,
I've been waiting for this video and it did not disappoint! I learn so much from each of your videos. I think for me, as someone with a ballet/contemporary/modern background, the reason Taemin is one of my favorite dancers is how good he is at using his lines as well as his upright posture. I've always thought he was a beautiful dancer and this definitely plays a big part in why he is one of my favorites to watch, as both of those are very important in the styles I've been practicing the longest. Another thing is his ability to make shapes which in my personal opinion is one reason why Move is so hard to cover. My teacher always says that hitting shapes is never enough and that being able to move through them is what makes dance, dance. But especially in Ballet, being in the most aesthetically pleasing position throughout the entirety of the choreo, as well as highlighting these shapes is extremely important. When doing Move, if you only think about the steps and don't think about the positions your body is supposed to hit, you aren't going to look nearly as good as Taemin. Another thing you can see if you look at a Move cover is everyone's need to add extra movement or extra force to the choreography to "make up" for how "simple" the choreo is, which defeats the purpose of the choreo. It isn't meant to be flashy, it's meant to be subtle which is unusual in Kpop. Another thing, which was mentioned in the video, is the ability to tense and relax. This helps with his textures, which makes him more interesting to watch than someone who is always stiff or fluid. Also his added popping makes choreography more satisfying especially when it compliments the music well! I think the Hard choreo definitely suited Key and Minho more than it did Taemin. In my opinion Taemin tried to adjust the choreo to fit his personal style instead of adjusting to fit the choreo, if that makes any sense.
Watch the fancams. You will see Taemin is the only one doing hip hop properly Minho is leaning towards the lyrics and key is trying hard to execute the choreos without groove. Tbh they got no hip hop swag style.

ah this was such a good examination of taemins dancing !! he's always put on a pedestal for his dance abilities and it was so interesting to see you explain why. i'm not a dancer myself but you explained to clealry that it was easy to understand, thank you!
ahh thank you so much for this, super cool to see the popping influences on his performances and how his style/execution has changed through his journey!! one thing that struck me watching was how he totally has that upright, centered posture yet a lot of taemin pictures that stand out to me are when he drops his upper body and rounds his back (even how he holds his neck in moments like the hard ending!), similarly how he can do such complex, sharp, '"fast" choreo yet excels in still/milked out/fluid moments - just a study in contrasts, tho i can see how isolations and popping/groove elements like glides play a role in it all. i feel like i need a part 2 just to dissect his 2371029 mph heel spins, why his signature walk is so striking (assuming something to do with lines), what predominant genres his latest solo choreos fall under, and what makes his presence so dramatic/epic/expressive/elegant (can you tell i'm not really a dancer adlkfj) esp in his solo work. tysm again for all the amazing breakdown, i always learn a lot and appreciate idols' performances more! ❤
Taemin, is and always will be the king of dance to me. He is always doing something new I always watch his feet and hands. So smooth, on point......magical.
Thank you so much for this analysis! I learned so much and as a Taemint it was a huge treat to learn more about his unique style and the background behind it
Thank you so much for going deep with you analysis of Taemin's dance. I learned so much in this one short session, and I look forward to more from you. I enjoy watching dancers in all genres and I appreciate your knowledge. I am a big fan of SHINee for their vocals and choreography. The always bring something both fresh and classic. Oh, I forgot to mention, I appreciate your interesting and non-judgmental style of analysis and critique. Thank you for dropping your video in time for Taemin's birthday!
As a popper and lover of Taemin I've actually never made the connection! This was very eye opening and I'm very glad that you are educating about this beautiful style, and applying your real (very deep) dance knowledge to kpop, which is something I rarely see. I'd love to see a video for Hyoyeon too!
THANK YOU i have needed a video like this for ages because explaining this stuff to people verbally is so difficult and you phrased it all so well and used literally all the best clips as examples!!! and im feeling both relieved that it's not just me who was noticing this stuff (like for example i've been talking about the inward facing knees since move came out and i wasn't even into dance yet, but it was such an apparent difference and NO ONE WAS MF LISTENING, it felt so lonely : (((( ) AND feeling extremely informed now that u explained where that is coming from genre wise!!! Literally bless you for having this knowledge AND putting in the effort to make an actual good quality video about it to share this knowledge with people, from the comments i can tell it's not just me really appreciating it. AND you did it without too much of a worshipping tone that i feel like a lot of kpop dance analysis vids suffer from xddd (Also love the soundtrack choices too actually, especially the one during Move) Anyways now im gonna go binge watch your entire channel : DDDD Thank you AGAIN goodniiiight
I like your content so much, the text is always so well-written with a lot of research done, and video examples are diverse and suitable too. Thank you for your videos, you actually made me more aware about how the art of dance works
i recently discovered your channel and i absolutely love how nerdy you are about dance! you explain things so well. thanks for this video right on taemin's birthday :D
I see Taemin and I click. Taemin is my absolute ult, as well as SHINee. Though I love the others to death, I always find it nearly impossible to tear my eyes away from Taemin. It takes many times through a video before I watch the others, and I STILL find it difficult. That's saying a lot, given how talented all SHINee members are. As a university professor, I thoroughly enjoyed your analysis, excellent work! The only things I would change are (1) to slow it down just a tad to give just a bit more time to read and then analyze, and (2) for non-shawols, it would be nice if you listed the origin of each clip, e.g., Move Dance Practice, Love Like Oxygen Performance video, etc. Thanks for honoring Taemin, and yes I am absolutely loving the Hard era.
Thank you so much for this video, I am taking part in a beginner popping class, and this video has provided me with some information that I haven’t had the chance to know. I really appreciate your work 💖😆
Wonderful break down as usual and I really enjoyed every minute of delving into Taemin's style. (Plus, I loved the cameos you included from Hyoyeon, love her!)
I would also like to add that one reason I particularly liked this video is that it's not a ranking/putting different idols' dancing against each other. As I'm scrolling through the comments I see some asking whether x or y is a better dancer and to do rankings of a, b and c. I know that's popular right now but I think videos like this one is a lot more interesting. People with actual knowledge sharing what styles have influenced different idols and how that impacts the way they execute choreography.
Eyyy i can’t believe I got the answer right (internally and then I fact checked with the pin 😂). Lovely video!! Esp the show case of different types of popping techniques and up grooves (need to check out that battle in full!) And just a real trip down memory with SHINee’s old choreo - i really like a lot of them so it was so nice to see the showcase there. Nice also to be able to identify now with more info from your video as to what makes them unique and why they are so different to current types of kpop choreos. Random thought but a close up side by side comparison between koharu’s and Taemin’s executions of move would have been super interesting to illustrate the differences between a more jazz (and line) based execution vs Taemin’s more angular kind of style. But those are just shower thoughts really.
The Duet version of "Move" ("version 2," I think) has Koharu and Taemin side by side. There's also that show Hit the Stage where the two of them dance "Sayonara Hitori" together.
I really appreciated so much about this video/instruction. The detailed descriptions coordinated with Taemin's and others' dance moves. Important to see the influences. You did not make this video about you (as so many 'reactions' and 'analyses' are), and watching this was really instructive and worthwhile. Thank you.
As a complete non-dancer with no knowledge of different dance styles, this video was very engaging and informative. I watched to the end because it was so well put together. Thank you for your hard work and sharing your knowledge.
Happy birthday Taemin!! I love that you included BOTH Famous and Super Car, which are my fave Taemin songs in his Japanese discog and his (short but sweet) SuperM discog!! Don't ask me about his Korean discog though I still can't decide 😂
This made me cry it was so nice to watch ☺️ I love videos about Taemin, especially ones that recognize his talent and explain it in terms where it is easier to understand if you’re not familiar with dancing too much. Thanks so much for taking the time to make this video.
Randome question, i was wondering if u were thinking of making a vid about Shinee overall? Like a ranking vid. I would love to know how much they have ALL changed, I think Minho has gotten better and I wanna know more about the other members and maybe a style they are good at or could be good at, not many dancers do vids on the other shinee members.
Thank you so much for making this. It cleared a lot of questions of mine about Taemin's style. It's also very helpful in other aspects, as i'm a dancer myself, so again, thank you
Taemin is just a Koh-i-Noor of dancers, there is just one. But I never realised it was funk. I really love funk - but I am from a nordic country, Estonia! and we hardly have anyone who has that kind of pop and groove. They do try, but... it is like a school playback...
Great job with this, it was so interesting. The explanation about the differences between funk and hip hop dancing was super enlightening for me and I really get why Taemin pushed hard for hip hop tracks now. I didn't realize just how different the two styles are; just makes my respect for him go up and up that he constantly challenges himself. Thank you for this awesome analysis! I'll think of it often.
Okay I don't know what you put in this video, I'm just a casual listener of SHINee/Taemin but there were tears in my eyes watching this 😅 He's just so special. Thank you for breaking down some of the reasons why; as someone without the dance background to notice/articulate any of this myself, it helps me appreciate his work even more!
What an excellent analysis! That was so helpful, and completely fascinating. I can’t count the number of times I’ve watched that dance practice video of Move, but after your thorough explanation it was obvious to see. More, please. I’m subscribing and checking you out!
I honestly hope for the return of the simpler, but funner kpop choreographies. It's been a little too much hiphop lately - and too much of the same, commercial, "hard" (=fast, powerful, aggressive) choreos, very little funk or heels or girly or groovy. I want more Sistar choreos, more Bboomm bboomm choreos, more Brave Girls High Heels, more AOA choreos. There's been enough of the aggressive and inelegant dances for the time being...
hii your videos are so insightful that shares much technical knowledge to the dance layperson in understandable way i really appreciate. thank you. id love to see you do an analysis of shinee as a whole with specific reference to groove 🙏🏾
I love your analysis videos!! I usually like to analyse dance styles but I'm not a pro and your comments are very accurate. I also keep them to myself because I do dance
I'd love if you could make an analysis, even just a short one, of f(x)'s luna. She's always been a great dancer but since her stay in NY she's improved even further by taking popping and locking classes among other styles. Also it's very interesting that he and kai trained together but are polar opposites in terms of groove. And I love how you explain groove because it really reminds me of how my coaches tell me to make sure there's a connection between my movements and i realize it's really connecting the moves together AND the moves to the music.
LOVE ur vids, I sometimes miss the way Taemin used to dance but at the same time i feel like the way he dances is so HIM now, I also think he has gotten better in certain aspects, like his gliding, dime stop, pop, etc(would love ur opinion on that). And to answer ur question, in my opinion I expected a little more from Taemin in HARD, in some performances he seems to not give it 100% but when he does (concert, newest performances) I gagged. And Key stole my attention 😂. KEEP IN MIND I don't know much about hiphop, so visually it looks nice but I personally can't tell is he executed the choreo well, I just wanted more.
I think it's good to take account that shinee were under a lot of pression and work in the promo weeks, they had recently finished 3 dates of concerts back to back without onew plus all the exhausting preparations they did before that for the concerts and the new album, so to me it's normal that taemin was not perfoming at his 100% in a lot of perfomances besides before he has talked about that he's normally "lazier" in the parts he's not the center (in music shows not in concerts) so yeah I take that as a matter of keeping his energy for the highlights moments. Other thing is that the second week they were singing live with hand mics. That's it. About the other point I kind of miss all the little quirks and mannerisms he had in different eras too (not only dancing but in vocals too) but at the same time I prefer the way he continue growing up and developing his unique style, always challenging himself to do new things and yet still keeping his essence from his beginnings and sometimes he even revisited these moments from the pasts and it feels very intentional and nostalgic, I don't know if I'm explaining well. But I think that's truly remarkable of him, he's always evolutioning.
@le_pierrot_rouge yes, I completely agree with u, even tho I miss the way he used to dance, the way he dances now is pretty unique and he owns the way he dances now, to the point that people can tell if it's him dancing even if they can't see his face 🤣. And im 100% not calling him lazy just incase u thought that, I just wanted more because when I would see Key and Minho they seem to be into it a bit more(maybe it suits them more or they really like the song). But yes ik that he saves his energy for the dance break/solo or sometimes it's because he's singing live. I always keep that in mind, but good thing u pointed that out because many forget that and how they have to do Onew parts too.
@@maggot2259 haha no, i didn't think you called him lazy, it was my way of paraphrase his own words hence the "" tho for aclaration he didn't say lazy per se. I see your point more clearly now I don't agree exactly but I understand that you perceive he's not that into the choreo. In my opinion he prioritized being relaxed and cool - and hot but that's normal for taemin - which is kind the opposite of what he normally does and it's more in vibe with hip hop and hard so for a artist who has a very notorius style I think he adapted well.
You're back 🎉 i missed your videos, as someone who has no relation whatsoever to performing arts, i really really like your videos and find them super helpful, you're an educational channel for me ❤ Hope you make more videos and get the recognition you deserve
omg i enjoy your videos so much and to see one ABOUT TAEMIN? yes. i think hip hop suits shinee cuz basically they were supposed to be a hip hop focused group .
mybe you could make a dance analysis for Wang Yibo. He belogs to the Kpop group UNIQ even though they are curently inactive and he promotes in China. He is a very talented dancer and can adapt different styles very fast. He es captain on the show street dance of china so there is a lot of fotage of his dancing.
i really have to commend the music choice during this section 7:58. it was just perfect to discuss groove. it makes what you're pointing out during lucifer even more noticeable!
ah i love this type of video i loved the in depth look at taemin's dancing. he's really interesting to watch. though i do think he doesn't suit hip hop at all (watching hard performances makes me sad lol)
Wow, thank you for making this video! I became infatuated with his dancing a decade ago and he pulled me into kpop no matter how hard I resisted it. I've been a fan of many kpop groups since, but the only other person to have my full attention like Taemin does is perhaps only Jimin, although they dance differently, their charm is just so unavoidable. I wondered why Taemin had that effect on me and this video has been so educational! Now I appreciate Ms. Koharu's genius even more. I wonder if she considered all of Taemin's dancer qualities and gave him a choreo to work with knowing it would highlight his personality in a way that cannot be mimicked by anyone else? Amazing!
Amazing Video! I love learning more about dance through your videos❤ And to answer the question: is it called toyman? Im not sure but still wanted to give it a try😅

This is such a great analysis! I appreciate it so much. Taemin and BoA are my two favorite dancers 😊!!
OMG FINALLY YESSSS
My favourite dancer and my favourite dance UA-cam channel 😭😭😭💓
Thank you so much for going deep with you analysis of Taemin's dance. I learned so much in this one short session, and I look forward to more from you. I enjoy watching dancers in all genres and I appreciate your knowledge. I am a big fan of SHINee for their vocals and choreography. The always bring something both fresh and classic. Oh, I forgot to mention, I appreciate your interesting and non-judgmental style of analysis and critique. Thank you for dropping your video in time for Taemin's birthday!
What a lovely birthday gift for Taemin and Shawols. I enjoy all your videos.
As a popper and lover of Taemin I've actually never made the connection! This was very eye opening and I'm very glad that you are educating about this beautiful style, and applying your real (very deep) dance knowledge to kpop, which is something I rarely see. I'd love to see a video for Hyoyeon too!
I'm so excited to watch this! And it's his birthday today
Yesss!!! I've been waiting for this ❤😂
I see Taemin and I click.
Thank you! I'll add a few more links to the description later
thank you for this detailed analysis including the origins 🥰 i learned a lot.
Thank you so much for this video, I am taking part in a beginner popping class, and this video has provided me with some information that I haven’t had the chance to know. I really appreciate your work 💖😆
as someone who has no clue about dance your videos are always extremely informative thank you so much for the hard work!!!
Omg chingu finally Taemin analysis😻 my fabourite dancer in all kpop im so excited sksksk
💯
Wonderful break down as usual and I really enjoyed every minute of delving into Taemin's style. (Plus, I loved the cameos you included from Hyoyeon, love her!)
THANK YOU for mentioning to root of these styles u are a legend
I really enjoyed this! Very informative and still easy to follow despite not having any knowledge in dance. Thank you for putting it together 😊
So interesting! I’d love to see a Hyo video next since you brought her up near the end.
Esp the show case of different types of popping techniques and up grooves (need to check out that battle in full!)
And just a real trip down memory with SHINee’s old choreo - i really like a lot of them so it was so nice to see the showcase there.
Watching those early Shinee choreos and the music made me nostalgic fr
The Duet version of "Move" ("version 2," I think) has Koharu and Taemin side by side. There's also that show Hit the Stage where the two of them dance "Sayonara Hitori" together.
I really enjoyed this! Thank you 😊
I love your videos! I feel like i learn something really fun haha, and you're clearly very passionate about it which makes it so good! Keep up!
Thank you for this very well-researched and informative video!
This made me cry it was so nice to watch ☺️ I love videos about Taemin, especially ones that recognize his talent and explain it in terms where it is easier to understand if you’re not familiar with dancing too much. Thanks so much for taking the time to make this video.
he’s truly one of a kind
Randome question, i was wondering if u were thinking of making a vid about Shinee overall? Like a ranking vid. I would love to know how much they have ALL changed, I think Minho has gotten better and I wanna know more about the other members and maybe a style they are good at or could be good at, not many dancers do vids on the other shinee members.
I'm definitely thinking about making a video about Shinee, but can't say when. I have a few other videos planned already
They do try, but... it is like a school playback...
so happy this vid exists,I feel like now I understand what I like about my fav more lol
i want to be taemin
Same bro
Thank you!
What an excellent analysis! That was so helpful, and completely fascinating. I can’t count the number of times I’ve watched that dance practice video of Move, but after your thorough explanation it was obvious to see.
More, please. I’m subscribing and checking you out!
I guess this kind of explains why I feel so underwhelmed by the choreo for Hard. It doesn’t leave a lot of room for Taemin’s strengths.
There's been enough of the aggressive and inelegant dances for the time being...
your analysis is always so detailed! ngl i learned so much things as a dancer from your videos ❤
thank you for the video! i think taemin is a great dancerr
so informative! thank you!
Great breakdowns and analysis
Learned a ton from this, thank you! Makes me want to go take a dance class.
hii your videos are so insightful that shares much technical knowledge to the dance layperson in understandable way i really appreciate. thank you. id love to see you do an analysis of shinee as a whole with specific reference to groove 🙏🏾
Okay now we need one for Hyoyeon too
I learned a lot from this video! Thank you!
really into your analysis videos, can you give overall evaluation upon Key’s techniques as well? Really appreciate
This is a great analys video i didnt know most of the terms 👏🏻
You're back 🎉 i missed your videos, as someone who has no relation whatsoever to performing arts, i really really like your videos and find them super helpful, you're an educational channel for me ❤
Hope you make more videos and get the recognition you deserve
Show me this video every week. Amazing.
Taemin is such a star, thank you for analyzing his dance abilities with your knowledge ❤
omg i enjoy your videos so much and to see one ABOUT TAEMIN? yes. i think hip hop suits shinee cuz basically they were supposed to be a hip hop focused group .
Subscribed right away. I loved this 😊
God- tier channel right here!
I've been waiting for this video omg
Thanks for this great insight as someone with two left feet but has a heart filled with funk, I've learnt a lot ❤
wow wow wow, that was a great video. Thanks for the analysis.
mybe you could make a dance analysis for Wang Yibo. He belogs to the Kpop group UNIQ even though they are curently inactive and he promotes in China. He is a very talented dancer and can adapt different styles very fast. He es captain on the show street dance of china so there is a lot of fotage of his dancing.
우왕 흥미로운 비디오😆
i really have to commend the music choice during this section 7:58. it was just perfect to discuss groove. it makes what you're pointing out during lucifer even more noticeable!
this analysis was very informative and intricate. You should really do a shinee dance ranking if you have the time!
Does he has a title like best dancer or smth? He's amazing asf
he is so eye catching you can fish him out from a sea of dancers in seconds. hes insane
ah i love this type of video i loved the in depth look at taemin's dancing. he's really interesting to watch. though i do think he doesn't suit hip hop at all (watching hard performances makes me sad lol)
Great analysis. I learned a lot! thank you for the great content. subscribed ♥
i missed you KEEP POSTING I LUV YOUR VIDEOS
No one could be like TAEMIN
TAEMIN is the different level forever. THE KING of kings
Amazing!
Resumen: taemin is korean michael jackson
Thank you for the analysis! Taemin and BoA are my favourite dancers, could you perhaps make an analysis for her as well?
I would love if you analyzed Rocky (former astro, now a soloist)!! I think he has an interesting dance background and i really enjoy your videos :)
Amazing Video! I love learning more about dance through your videos❤
And to answer the question: is it called toyman? Im not sure but still wanted to give it a try😅
Not toyman, but good guess! It's inspired by another figure/character than toyman style
@@facts_in_fictionI see. Maybe its scarecrow. The style is inspired by the scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz, right?
@@bluebin553
Yes!!
If you want, you can make a separate comment with the answer, then I can pin it. Otherwise it might be confusing 😅
@@facts_in_fictionYay! I'll make a new comment.
