Bought a Scorpion intake at Nationwise back in the 70's right off the wall, it was rare back then to find any in stock parts for a Cleveland. Ordered a Sig Erson cam kit at the same time.
Hi 69JANKS , Good little video . These intakes brings back some precious memories. One interesting subject you brought up was that sometimes you have to go against what the so called professionals tell you . I put together what I thought was going to work and it did. 👍
exactly pb121, the large port stuff will surprise you with things that’s needed to go fast. Everyone nowadays is focused on the modern port designs & intakes & to improve on them…… the vintage oem big ports is a forgotten art to make them work well🤷🏻♂️. Thanks pb 👍🏼🏁
I’ve honestly have never heard of the scorpion version. The torquer was found on just about every clevo in the 90’s .. haha!! Most blokes who ran them didn’t even replace their cam to suit the rev range, or put in massive lift cams haha!! Thanks again for the memories and another great video . Mouse
There’s always a first on here haha🤷🏻♂️🏁, just thought I’ll point that out……oh & Edelbrock Torkers were only for a 4V (not 2V) as far as i remember🤷🏻♂️, they hardly come up for sale nowadays👍🏼🏁
We found a lot of differences between torkers themselves, and had to do a good bit of work to them. The scorpians were a lot easier to get good results with. We had a couple scorpians set aside, for the different dirt tracks we raced at. The scorpians were better by far, than the torkers. We never ran any dominators, so I can't say anything on those. But the lap times and driver's responses made the scorpians our best intake. If we ran a dual plane, we had a Boss 351 factory intake that would run circles around anything aftermarket dual plane in the mid 70s to early 80s.
Looking good Janks. Have always ran spacers too, but with hood only inch would work, until I got bigger scoop. Looks like my 354c in that picture on the dyno? Cool comparisons 🏁👍👍
Thanks Tim, oh wow come to think about it does look like your 354🤷🏻♂️? Haha….. Yes the 4V Torker were pretty decent over everything else, decent height too. I’ve never owned a Strip Dom but i did know a cple guys with em & none were ever anything fascinating with et or faster than my old combo🤷🏻♂️🏁, who knows to be honest🤷🏻♂️, but i can’t see the Torker making beyond 550’ish hp, the Strip Dom I’ve seen pull out 580’ish + hp on good Stroker combos & on yours too👍🏼🏁
Hey Nige, it all depends on the application really. A 4 hole will act as an extension to the throttle bore plate probably promoting better carb signal & down low response/Tq , I’ve always ran an open spacer (plenum volume) & go less on the carb itself for that good signal/atomisation on a 4V even 2V also….. but if someone say for eg: had an 850dp on a 4V combo & single plane intake, a 4hole spacer on that 850 is a good way to manipulate that carb & try make it work on a large port 4V 🤷🏻♂️……. Hope that helped 👍🏼🏁
Thank you appreciate it👍🏼🏁, never seen a Clover pad on a Torker Edelbrock. But i wouldn’t bother with that stuff….. good ol 1”-2” open spacer on a tuff combo👌🏼🏁
I ran the Edelbrock, at the strip, on the street and on the NASCAR stuff. The scorpion is fine for back and forth between street and strip, but to get the same Kick as the Edelbrock took an even taller spacer than the 2" we ran on the Edelbrock. Test everthing three times, if it doesn't show an improvement, it's not going to. At least in my world.

That’s cool gb57, good ol times of shopping around for “go-fast” gear👍🏼
Nothing that a simple spacer can’t fix on these Torkers🤷🏻♂️👍🏼

@@69JANKS Ha ha, i can pick out some things, lol. I have always had good luck with the Torker. It really needs way more plenum. Thanks Mate
@@DragBoss351Cleveland right on Tim, it can do with some redesign for sure, i like the smooth straighter runners (less turn) on the Torker 👍🏼🏁
Nice old skool work Janks. Mate, whats your thoughts on open v 4 hole spacer on the 4V. Cheers, Nige.

Is the torker with clover pattern any good?
Great channel!!
