buy the 1490! carraro axle and original kleibers on - basically same as a 1494 mechanically- only thing worth checking if u get it is the 4wd coupling on front axle can wear quick if they slackened as its only splined like a 540 rpm coupling - my 1390 4wd needed "dressing up"... from experience -id get diesel tanks off n the pipe in between n clean em - black sludge hides lol if yer back at the tractor ask them if theyve put a new clutch in at some point - sometimes the "wedding cake" clutch needs set in a vice or it wont release fae enough n can make em tight :-) had to split my 1390 because of that !
Thanks for the advice but in the end it turns out that the clutch had gone and we could not get the gears, also starter motor had gone , so the only way was to tow the tractor to start and there was a couple of tins of easy start behind the seats, so I think we would be buying work lol Wile we was thinking about the tractor it sold on ebay for 5k as was.
@@alanmoffat9605 it was in his next video but drive clutch was knackered too I think n the clutches in these need set on a jig before u do them add in a clutch n a starter n whatever else by the time yer in there n you’d no have much change out £1000 quid over n above the purchase price 🤕
I do like the 1490 but i don't want to own it if it has an AD3 engine in it due to the fact that it has no bearings in one cylinder while the others do and rebuilding the engine will be a pain in the neck and you will only get three new bearings instead of four so you'll need to get some extra bearings for the job sadly 😅
@Jesper Thygesen the earlier David Brown 1490s came with an AD3 engine which is missing bearings in one cylinder so i don't recommend buying them but those who has the AD4 engine in it which they changed too later on 😄
@Jesper Thygesen seems like you got an AD4 engine in it in that case, dad told me that the 1490s with an AD3 gets problems so i hope you got my point 😅
The 1490 was stuck in gear plus 4WD was engaged. No tractor could make those wheels turn - at best the 1490 would skid up the drive. The clutch is the problem which they were working on.
The first pull attempt it appears that the 2 wheel drive 1390 didnt have diff lock engaged!
Hahaha just watched this video...I now own this tractor 😅
Did you buy it? I would have it in a blink of an eye.
Hi no we didn't buy it ....it had to many problems and we didn't have the time to fix them .
👍👍👍
Always wary of a tarted up tractor that is poor mechanically . better with a tatty runner
Hi Charles, we didn't buy it in the end to many jobs to do on it. Thanks for Watching 😊
You couldn't get them in gear when they were new
I want buy it
I wouldnt let any of you near a tractor of mine you have no clue what you are doing to that db🤦♂️

No it's a DB..
@@garethifan1034 yes, but it's a rebadged case. It's a case with David Brown on it

Sounds like the engines bad. They normally started very easily
