    In grade school we used to have Bohrok fights during recess. The shell pops open and the mask flies out when the eyes are hit. Used to call it a knockout.

      Haha, that's amazing. Not many of my friends had the Bohrok, we mostly just battled the Rahi and Toa. Thanks for commenting :)

    The Bohrok are probably the most nostalgic enemy sets in Bionicle. In 2013, I was able to get every Krana I didn't already have off of Bricklink and I have all my Bohrok and Bohrok-Kal displayed on one of my shelves with all of them curled up into balls. With all the Krana in my possession, something I like to do is have each Bohrok, Bohrok Va, and Bohrok-Kal have a different Krana from each group of six.
    One memory I have is that on my birthday in 2002, I got a Tahnok and Pahrok, but I had lost the Krana that came with my Pahrok, and it was missing for days before I finally found it in between the cushions of the couch in the basement. Something I remember is that my sister tried singing to me to cheer me up, but that didn't help. And one of my party guests even joked that he had eaten it, which thank goodness was a joke, but it wasn't funny.

      Wow, congrats on getting the full set of krana! It must be a sight to behold. I display my Bohrok with Xa, so that they are all Commanders. Sadly I don't have room for the Bohrok Va on display, or the Krana really...which means I tend to find stray ones under furniture from time to time, all dirty and covered in dust.
      A few of mine did have teeth marks, so maybe your friend has been near them, lol. I found that pouring boiling water on them helps return them to their original shape.
      Thanks for sharing! :)

    The nostalgia slaps hard! It has been 20 years and the 2 left claws of the green guy still bugs me.

    Didn't get into Bionicle until the Vahki, but when I first saw the Bohrok on the internet, found them so cool that I made it my mission to get them all. Years later, very happy to say I have all elements including the Bohrok Kals!
    Though getting all the Krana still taking a while, lol.

      Haha, nice work! Yeah, collecting all the Krana is definitely a challenge. Good luck!

    I never had any of the standard Bohrok, or even any of 2002's Bionicle sets for that matter. But in spite of them starting the the "Attack of the Clones" trend of horde villain sets, the Bohrok still have many exclusive elements, including the exclusivity of the limbs in orange, lime green and the old light gray to Tahnok, Lehvak and Kohrak resspectively. The ones in tan and medium blue would go on to be the most common of the six origin colors, and this part was seen fairly regularly in ten other colors over the following five years. Three of those would actually debut in sets from the "Vikings" theme (2005-06) before appearing in Bionicle. Similarly, half of the origin colors of the Bohrok feet were never seen again after the end of 2002, with the ones in Mata green and earth orange (Mata brown/Old brown) being exclusive to their respective sets. The Mata blue ones would have had a similar fate, but they also came in two "Part tubs" between 2005 (8713) and '06 (6620). They were seen in five other colors throughout the theme. The "Fire Shields" and "Acid Shields" from Tahnok and Lehvak were the only ones of the Bohrok Shields to not be recolored, and were never seen outside of the Bionicle theme. The "Ice Shields" from Kohrak would have met the same fate, had they not been recolored in silver in the Star Wars Hailfire Droid (4481) in June 2003. Gahlok's "Water Shields" also appeared in silver in a "Spybotics" set (3807) in 2002, and in a "Power Racers" set (8650) in '05. The "Earth Shields" from Nuhvok appeared in silver in similar locations (8366 and 8650), as well as in medium blue as shoulder armor on the Technic Super Battle Droid (8012) in April 2002.

    I currently have Lehvak in my Bionicle collection, albeit with the wrong colored Krana (The Krana on Lehvak was blue when it was supposed to be red).

    9:10 I mean, bohroks are relatively cheap, and since I'm planning on displaying active Krana in bohroks, getting 8 of each is my go to anyways. I'm roughly quarter in this slow collection process, and so far no repeats.
    Inactive Krana might be a hassle tho, from what i see about their availability online

    great review, I only have Tahnok, Gahlok and Lehvak. Not my fave villains but in the story a good test of the strength of the toa

    • @brickthumb
      @brickthumb  Рік тому +3

      Aaw, no Nuhvok? That one was easily my fave, although Tahnok was close second. And no, not the best villains, but someone at Lego must have really liked them to release them again as the Bohrok Kal!

      @@brickthumb yes, for some reason I missed out on most of the Ice characters, no Kopaka, no Kopaka Nuva, no Nuhvok etc. the first Ice charactere I got was the white Rahkshi. From the Bohrok Kal I only have Lehvak Kal( green guy again), used his shields for my sparepart Maxilos

    I feel like the Bohrok eyes are the only Bionicle piece that is still molded and used to this day! How many colors has that come in over the years?

    • @brickthumb
      @brickthumb  Рік тому +3

      I had to count them all. 36! Including some very unusual colours like glow-in-the-dark. Pretty crazy.

    The bohrok were never surpassed as enemy sets IMO. They are fun on their own with their ball from, their curvy parts make for interesting mocs with the straigher toa parts, the krana look great on the toa and the play feature rules. Rahkshi never came close IMO, neither did Vahki and by the Piraka the figures are in a whole different realm of style (for better and worse)
