ApolyonTheSoulRender the corps didn't even do any of the pitch bending, the synth did it. cavaliers were doing real pitch bends facing backfield in samurai back in 2008.

I agree that BD deserved that win but this show was just a lot more exciting to watch and listen to than any other show I've seen this year. These guys had my soul melting throughout the whole show. Never got to see them live but hearing them in IMAX was still pretty damn amazing.
Gregg Hanson that’s part of the point they’re making. The Blue Devils create very technical shows that are built to win. Bloo, Crown, and many others build shows that can win, but are also enjoyable to the fans
Didn't used to be case. Back in the 80's and 90's BD shows were all about entertaining. Then the Cadets and more so the Cavies started taking the technical side of corp to new levels. BD shows shifted to keep up. The Coats have tried to accomplish both.
Audio Remastering, while making the corps players sound much more clear and defined, also managed to take away the incredible crowd reaction, and toned down the actual frequency range balance during the pitch bend and the other electronic effects at the end in order to make it cleaner sounding. The live broadcast version felt a lot more natural, and like you were actually there. The crowd reaction was amazing in person.

Great Show! I can't help but love how the group involved in the "bowling pins" at the end of the show are laughing their butts off after the catch. Hilarious!
Never noticed til I got some nice headphones and really started listening deeply into this, on the last note there is a baritone who is just really gross and playing over the entire hornline, now I can’t unhear it even without headphones I still hear that low bari just blast over top.
My marching show this year was based off of this show ending, and when I saw it for the first time, that’s when I realized I want to do drum corp, it’s so special.
I'm sorry....but am I the only one disappointed in the sound of the pitch bend with the hornline? Because hearing it live has no words to describe....even seeing it in the theaters it sounded like there was no break, and that's what made it effective. Just not the same on this quality. :(
Hearing it live was unbelievable. I was on the 50 at the Akron show and it sounded absolutely flawless. I honestly thought the hornline was bending the pitch.
ksgtv Isn't that the point of the DVDs and BluRay? To make it sound live, if not better? Because this is the single greatest GE moment live in my memory. Like you said, it didn't just sound like electronics....it sounded like the brass was bending the pitch for real. But if this is the quality we get on the discs....then what's the use of wasting $120?
Rudy Noriega was supposed to be the guy that jumps off the end. He always complains a lot when we bring it up with him about how jealous he was of zak when him and director realized his drill didn’t end up fitting quite right with that visual
Quick little thing I noticed, and I'm pretty sure it's not just me because I checked a few different uploads of this same performance...Did anyone hear a trumpet jump an octave higher at the very end while the runner was making his way to the final leap?
I think the score should’ve been closer to the blue devils show. Even if the technical skill was lower than the BD’s, this show was the most enjoyable of the year.
Great show, great part, but there is a prevailing baritone in the end that just looses a little effect for me, I was in the nosebleed section watching this so I didn't hear it, either because of the crowd or the stadium.
