Thanks for this. I have had an Analog 4, which I love, for few years now, but I don't get under the hood of it as much as I should. This was super helpful.
like that you start from the amp. i used to do that intuitively, but thought the way the synths were laid out and the way people had explained synthesis, that this was wrong. but i really do see that it is more efficient workflow to go in reverse. i know that people even take it further and go from FX first. but i guess it just proves that there's no wrong way to do something just as long as it produces the result you're looking for.
Really nice video - Starting with the AMP page was slightly revelatory. Thinking back, I come now to realise that most of my nicer patches actually started that way!
Just came across your page after a few years of having an AK and only scratching the surface. Very very helpful and well explained. I'll def be watching more. Thank you.
Very glad of that! Cuckoo's tutorials on the AK are good too. Much longer because he covers just about the lot! ua-cam.com/users/results?search_query=Cuckoo+tutorial+analog+keys
Nice Video... i didnt checked out your page yet! but i guess ill find a ton of good explantations on some gear... can you answer me why you are choosing a hipass filter? what is the background of it? before the analog 4 came in to my house (not long ago) and before i watched your video, i was allways using a lowpassfilter on basssounds... probably u have a little expalntation on why better use a highpass on the basssound... or why you choosed to highpass it... thanky you again
I often use the HPF as EQ to roll off the bass where it might otherwise muddy the mix a bit. Not usually necessary if you're EQing the sound externally, but I like to have a live stereo feed from my multitimbral instruments. Of course it can sculpt the sound in more radical ways, just like the other filter modes.
Slightly off topic question but how did you make the resonant, slightly metallic sounds in the background music in the intro ? I've heard similar sounds on some of Benjamin Brunn's album and have always been fascinated by them, I'd love to know how to recreate them ! I really like all your videos by the way, they're very musical and very clear.
You're an excellent teacher. I really appreciate you taking the time to explain the connections and whats happening when you make adjustments.
Training and writing manuals have been things I've done over the years. Thanks for your kind comments.
Seen From Space thanks for your time

BTW someone asked for an explanation of the envelopes, hence my rather laboured treatment of all the different shapes!

I don´t know, but he would liked the way you teach the ability to create "organised noises" that he called music.
