This made me want to cry. But tears of joy. The fact that this is 9 years old and I just found it today, reminds of how fast time is moving. And all the beautiful creations that take place are literally passing before our eyes. May this video recording remain in arms reach as an example of a historical record of how to create with purity and joy. You did it so quickly and it sounded so good. This is why we make music as creators, to feel like this. Good work.
At 4 mins 20 secs the rhythm made my 97 year old Grandmother get out of her wheelchair and start dancing. She now wants an Analog Four for her 98th birthday present.
Dude, I first saw this (now) 2 year old video about 10 months ago, and to this day I still find myself whistling the main vocal melody in the middle of the day.
He he, it's pretty catchy isn't it? :) I've tried to finish it a few times, but I think it's most compelling in its original form in this video. Keep whistling ❤️
+Adam Jay ha ha.. I've actually tried to finish it and make it a "real" song, but it just didn't seem right. I'll try again, to bring closure! But some ideas work best as little doodles like this.
I love the way you build and develop process the melody from inspiration to application. You have a real talent my friend! Its great to see someone who values melody not just groove.
+Thomas Meyer Hey there, I've done a few on the Analog Keys, that has the exact same workflow. Just a bit different button layout. I've got both a basic how to make a sound tutorial, and an extensive sequencer tutorial. Check them out: ua-cam.com/video/K317eMEsLhs/v-deo.html and ua-cam.com/video/LfH0-0HDAzE/v-deo.html
You know you hit the spot when your kids hum this while making breakfast! Now my son wants me to do it on my analog4. Way to go cuckoo! I have been thrown a cool challenge! I'll upload it if I work it out!
That's great to hear! Thanks! Then all my efforts are worth it! There are great AnalogFour videos out there, but most of them revolve around the electronica genre. It can be used for so much more! It's very versatile.
What @Quaalz said. And if you're a finger person, who likes to play the keys like a piano, some of that joy might be taken away when handling the A4. If you're a step sequencer person however, or a person with a sort of technical approach to music the A4 might be perfect. Take your time. If you're not living in a big town with a decent synth store - I'd suggest you go to the nearest town and find one.
I just listened to this again today. I honestly think you should release this. So much music comes out that doesn’t have half of this vibe or mood. Maybe just hit record one day when your in a similar mood and play around until an arrangement presents itself. #StillWhistling
Wow great demo! I'm gonna get one soon! I really like your music, you've got a great gift/talent. One of be best i've seen on youtube. I salute you Sir!
Every time you show a new ... thing, I have the urge to go and check if I can afford it. "You and meeee, are happy again 🎶" Thanks for the video, Cuckoo!
Cool improv. The sound+sequencer sold me on the Analog Four. I also like that it's portable. No need to be chained to a DAW or a keyboard unless you want to be. From what I've heard and read about it, it has a versatile synth engine that sounds different from Moogs and Korgs, but is capable of squelchyness and aggression if you want to manipulate it. Can't wait for it to arrive.
The Sub Phatty and the A4 is two really different synths. I would recommend you test them out before you buy. Sit down with each synth and feel it through, for 30 minutes or even a hour. The big difference is that the A4 is a analog sequencer with buttons. The Moog is a handcrafted analog synth with keys.
Thanks Matt! I realized there are so many interesting folks subscribing to my channel! What a great collection of synth, music and tech friendly people! :D
Thank you. Well, yeah I know what you mean. But there can still only be one note per trigger. So if you play fast and complex it just isn't possible to record it. Besides, I actually like the little on-board keyboard =)
your videos, as well as Dataline's have really helped me to decide whether or not to get the Analog Four/or Keys version. and cuz of the new overbridge software coming out this year, or soon, im totally gonna go with the Analog Four. i love the sound of this synth and what it can do. i use to be obsessed with the nord lead series, until i heard this. changed everything :D
and i LOVE the song / performance mode, with a turorial / review built into it... I always separate that on mine,,,, great idea - just keep going! plus you talk in sync with the timing...!
Hey cuckoo, you spread a good energy and funny, the main reason I'm watching this, btw I can see it by the patterns you make, anyway will be happy to see more videos of your productions :) cheerz
Thanks Bangin :) Well, if you haven't updated to the latest firmware, you should consider it. They introduced a new sub oscillator called 5th. Using the 5th on one, or even on both OSC's it's not that hard to create chords. The key is tuning both OSC's individually. With the 5th you can create some jazzy stuff :)
Saw wave on both OSC, then 5th sub-oscillators on both, tune one higher than the other (find the sweet spot for that chord) add some noise, low pass filter down. Done!
Really a tough call between the A4 or AKeys. The sticking point for the Keys is the space and portability. I already have a P12, Voyager and an Akai 61 Key controller. I feel like It'll be too much to add another keyboard in my studio. If I connect my controller to the A4, will I have the same functionality as the AKeys (just not the visual lights)? I'll be using it to control and play my modulars too (if that helps). Cheers and nice demo!! You rock at these
Hi hi hi.. that's great! Thanks! You know, after reading your comment I thought this would be the perfect distribution model for me. 1) Record a video of me making a song. 2) Finish the song and upload it to the distribution channels immediately. No album. I should start thinking about these things shouldn't I?
I can't stop looking at your video. It is great inspiration. I am waiting for my analog four and octatrack to arrive. I wonder how do you come up the song so easily. Do you build on the music foundation or just randomly create one. I am currently learn Piano and some foundation of music. I wonder if one day that you can share about how you come up with the song
hey Cuckoo! i'm a really serious person and i don't like your music at ALL, but you're so fun making all those demos, you seem to be a cool guy. i love it. and you are one rare person who don't do a TECK/TRANCEY/DUB/STEP.... wururuwuwuwskriingestruuuckwiiiinnnOOOwowowzz music. and that's GREAT !! Cheers !
6:31 "5000 hits long pattern": is it possible to use an external sequencer like the Orthogonal Devices ER-101 with the A4? Or would that be the same as using the A4's chains?
Always beautiful your videos and your music, or a question for you, I'm undecided whether to buy a ELEKTRON SFX-60 + mkII or Analog Four, can you give me some advice? ...sorry my english :)
Hey Cuckoo, first of all great treck love your sounds and you got some realy nice groove in it ^^, i got an Analog 4 by my self and every A4 user know that chord sounds and thinks like that are hard to make for example that sound at about 4:00 is reaaaly nice and warm, coud you give me some tips or do a tutorial for some ideas? greets Bangin :))

Some people are just born to make music. You can't fake this. Very cool stuff.

+Adam Jay Same here! 😘
+cuckoomusic now 17 month later and still can't get it out of my head. Long live Cuckoo's catchy hooks!
+Adam Jay ha ha.. I've actually tried to finish it and make it a "real" song, but it just didn't seem right. I'll try again, to bring closure! But some ideas work best as little doodles like this.
+Red Agent it's a catchy little melody isn't it..
You might be one of the coolest people on the internet man.
I know right? he sure is
I concur
100%
6+ years later... it's still true.
I love the way you build and develop process the melody from inspiration to application. You have a real talent my friend! Its great to see someone who values melody not just groove.
Thanks Emil! I always considered myself a melody guy. I love great melodies.. It's what's looping in my head at all times. ;-)

Love watching you work.
Hahaha this is great! Found myself giggling and jamming at the same time. Nice pipes too. The mirror makes for interesting composition.
Thank you. Well, yeah I know what you mean. But there can still only be one note per trigger. So if you play fast and complex it just isn't possible to record it. Besides, I actually like the little on-board keyboard =)

+EvivEn thanks! :)
You're pretty entertaining, the way you put the song together.
"you & me, so happy & free... I can't believe we're at it again."
Really awesome done man! I love that structure and how you build up the song! :)
Thank you Dieter! Really appreciate it!
Wow that was amazing, the whole process! Enjoyed your description at the end too.

Thanks Bangin :)

And yeah, thanks a bunch! Great to hear the whole family is diggin it. Kids friendly.
this is happiness.
+russianvoodoo he he, glad to hear that! ;)
I 've revisited this song many times. great piece. and I like playing with tiny keyboards too.
Saw wave on both OSC, then 5th sub-oscillators on both, tune one higher than the other (find the sweet spot for that chord) add some noise, low pass filter down.
Done!
I'd say you're the Bob Ross of the A4 but with that mirror, it's more like Romper Room. :3
Keep doing your thing man, great stuff.
Beautiful tune and really interesting video. Subbed. Ps have you used it with a controller? Does that expand the experience?
Man this was CLASS! Don't know if I'll end up buying this but you are awesome! hahah
Amazing demo - wow, you rock that box :)
