    literally the only tutorial that made sense for me. I have problems learning and was able to get it done in 2 hours, which says a lot. Many thanks, sir!!

    Really super handy! I'm looking to pick one of these up, doing my research first. Thanks!

    Here's another trick I'd like to throw into the discussion. You can *almost* get sound locked trigs to play on the same step. The key word here is ALMOST. Example:
    1. Have a kick and snare in your sound pool
    2. Do a classic 4 to the floor kick pattern... trigs 1,5,9,13
    3. Put the snare on the upbeats... trigs 3,7,11,15
    4. Now say you want the kick to hit on one of the snare hits, maybe trig 15. You can place a kick on trig 14 and slide it to the extreme right end of the micro timing scale by holding the trig and pressing the right arrow button. That would be +23/384 on the scale.
    5. Now two sounds virtually share the same step.
    This isn't exact, of course, but it's extremely close. Depending on the sounds you're using, you can get some weird phasing or sound variation with those particular hits. With some careful sound shaping on the those parameter locks, you can get it so close that you can barely tell they're not exactly on the same step.

      oh wow thank you so much..that's exactly what I was wondering...I hope I can apply the same way on the octatrck..will check tonight for sure..
      thank you

      Excellent! I did it by doing the classic 4 to the floor kick and snare on the downbeat BUT to combine the kick+snare on the downbeat I put the snare on 4 and kick on 6 and then micro timed them closer so it sounds like they're on 5 (also used 12 and 14). So cool!

    Nice tutorial as always :-)
    There's an easier way to audition sound patches on a running sequence without having to leave the sound browser page though.
    1. Enter the sound browser by double tapping the respective track button on the right side of the A4
    2. Scroll through the sounds (filtering for whatever type that seems appropriate to you)
    3. When you find a sound that you'd like to audition on the running sequence, hold Function and hit the Yes/Save button
    The sound gets loaded to the respective track and you're still in the sound browser. Just hit the down or up button to call up the next sound and hold Funktion/hit Yes.

      +Infra Schall Thanks for that. I'll give it a go. That's an Easter Egg: can't find it in the manual. I still make it 3 button presses with 2 hands though. In earlier operating systems, I could only get sounds to play via the keyboard while in the Browser. The Play button was disabled.

    while in SOUND BROWSER ,you can hold FUNCTION button and press YES to load the sound,you will then stay in the browser menu

    Thank you! =) I own 3 Elektron machines and wow the learning curve really caught me by surprised. I should have bough one at a time not all at once. I find the A4 to be the maching i understand the most so far, your tutorials help loads.

      Very glad of that. If you understand synthesis already the A4 is pretty approachable. The OT is seriously complex, and the manual is almost no help at all :(

    sound selection is dumb how it is.. 4096 patches to check through , is very impossible .
    Maybe best way is to use the Keyboard or external midi to play the keys while in browse , then you can preview while you doodle. #function+yes to keep the sound browser open

      That's how I do it set the midi preview to midi channel 12. Have to change it on my Arturia keystep every time I am looking for sounds. I really wish there was a better way!

    Thx for the tutorial! I Have only one problem with sounds from the sound pool. Do you know how to edit a sound in your sequence without pressing the trig. Is there a way to lock that trig so I can edit it with two hands?

    • @SeenfromSpace
      @SeenfromSpace  8 років тому

      +Christian Llopis Not as far as I know. Although you can radically redesign a sound just by using parameter locks, I think sound locks are there so you can insert pre-saved sounds into your sequence. To save you the trouble I guess!

      +antonis stavropoulos In the dim past I've actually played notes on a keyboard with my nose, for lack of any other appendage or switch to trigger them!! This is working on 2 track tape.

    after uploading a sound pack where do I locate the sounds?

  • @fiddlestickzmuzik
    @fiddlestickzmuzik 8 років тому +1

    wow that's not how I audition sounds at all, even on the Analog keys you simply grab the huge big knob left of the screen and scroll it down or up and it plays the next sound for you, it's super easy and I never have to enter that sound browser menu...

    • @SeenfromSpace
      @SeenfromSpace  8 років тому +1

      +fiddlestickz muzik Just scrolling doesn't load the sound though. You still have to press Yes to load it, which takes you out of the list page. Then it's button pressing again to get back to the list. I know there are several ways to do it, but I've not found a way to go through sounds with only a knob turn or single press. Unless this is an AK feature? They run the same OS surely?

    • @MRabbitFrog
      @MRabbitFrog 8 років тому +1

      +Seen From Space I almost sure it is only an AK feature.

    This synth is so uninspiring with sound selection. A royal pain in the ass! If it didn't sound so good I would have sold it long ago. Please fix this ELEKTRON!
