    Endeavor messed up Toya’s mental state so bad that even All For One gave up on manipulating him. Even the Demon Lord himself couldn’t penetrate the hold that Endeavor had on Toya’s mind. Says a lot. Endeavor may not have been able to surpass All Might, but he was able to surpass All For One at one thing: fucking up a kid’s mind.
    And we also get confirmation that Dabi saw his endeavor against his family as a suicide mission. He doesn’t value his life at all because he has been conditioned to see himself as a failure because he wasn’t able to fulfill the purpose of his birth. Endeavor neglecting him after giving him so much attention when drilling into him how important surpassing All Might was only served to make Toya feel like his existence was pointless.
    Shoto vs. Dabi essentially operates as a more extreme Deku vs. Shoto. Shoto is trying to get Toya to cool down and stop him from killing himself and hurting others, and he does that by fully accepting himself by uniting both sides of his quirk. Instead of constantly putting a dividing line between his mother and father, he embraces all of himself to complete his quirk. He’s created a unique technique that is perfect against fire users. The development of Shoto’s cold flames is interesting to theorize about as he improves his Flashfire Fist: Phosphor.

      Trust me Endeavor didn't surpass All for One on fuckin up a kid's mind. Yes Endeavor messed up, but is not specifically about Endeavors traitment, is explained both in the manga and in this chapter. The reason why All for One could not manipulate him was because of age, the kids that All for One was using at possible vessels had to be of certain age so their brain are not nurtured, if you could change Endeavor and All for One on who raises Toya, then All for One would have changed everything. Yes Toya was obsessed with his dad years before, but not to that extent, All for One could have manipulated Toya if he was like 5 years old (if you are manga reader you will understand)
      If you are not a manga reader let me tell you, AFO manipulating children is a lot more fucked up

      @@gonzalopanizzaI’m a manga reader and afo couldn’t have manipulated touya at any age he would’ve had to kidnap touya from birth to manipulate him. Once endeavor put the idea in Touyas head that he could surpass him and be bigger then all might there was nothing anybody could’ve done to steer him from that not even all for one, endeavor even said himself that touya inherited his stubborn nature so touya was always a lost cause shigaraki is different because his dad abused him and crushed all his dreams of being a hero so of course he was easy to manipulate but touya didn’t grow up in that kind of environment

    • @gonzalopanizza
      @gonzalopanizza 6 днів тому

      @@seanw4661 @seanw4661 if you are a manga reader then the end of your comment don't make sense because AFO did what he did so THAT could happen(i will not say a thing so people don't get spoilers). About Toya, that's your intepretations of the facts, i'm stating the explanation. About he being stubborn it doesn't matter, the difference is that AFO could not be moving strings from younger, but being stubborn at 5 when he was more normal(Toya) don't make him invulnerable to someone like AFO. To put ages into perspective, when Dabi burned himself was already 13 years old, and out of comma at 16, so there is a HUGE difference between 5y old not nurtured brain and a 13-16y old teenager. AFO manipulated a ton of adult people, a 5y old stubborn is not comparable. And saying that Toya was always a lost cause makes no sense, he could have been talked out of his path when he was younger if he had more attentive people around

    It makes me so sad to see Dabi still long to just be seen by his father and how even after being healed, he just wanted to go home and be with his family. I also can't imagine how it must have felt to have both the hero side and villain side call Dabi a failure

    The depths of Dabi’s past truly feel like descending into hell.
    Garaki finally speaks up on one of the biggest conundrums among the villains. Dabi ALWAYS had special treatment. And while them knowing he was Endeavor’s son, they for some reason had absolute faith in him to take command of the vanguard action squad in the camp attack. They assigned Nomu especially to him, they gave him Hood the 1st High End, and just a VARIETY of other special treatments. But to watch AFO step up in the tremendous forest fire was one of the SINGLE most haunting panels in the manga. Y’know. Aside watching Touya just intentionally burn himself away. The man in the hat appeared in a panel removed in season 5, and the orphanage decorations appeared in a panel removed from season 4. There’s little pieces put together. But I can’t speak on those yet.
    Touya woke up in this orphanage run by Garaki. His body modified. His voice changed. And staring down those taken by AFO 3 WHOLE YEARS later. A fate VERY similar to Shigaraki. But Touya was out of control. He had not completely severed his desire to be with his family. And his unending drive to be taught by Endeavor.
    Slight correction. Touya did not burn this orphanage down. Mr Sunny did out of fear of being discovered. And the people who lived there were moved to another facility. They did go over in the season 6 opening episode that Garaki had a variety of orphanages, hospitals, and other covered buildings. In reality it was just another home in AFO’s empire. These people were like AFO’s ingredients to make something new. What we don’t know, since there’s possibilities of Nomu ingredients, and other creations we know they’ve made. But considering the special treatment and the desire to maintain Touya’s anger and hatred…that screams something VERY different.
    And then to have the proof when he returned things just didn’t improve. Shoto was getting “trained” and Rei was now in the hospital. And he even prayed at his own grave knowing he truly was gone from this family.
    He came to this fight wanting to end it all. And burn everything his family had built to the ground and take them with him. And we see what a prime adult Dabi can REALLY do. This isn’t a show like he was doing in front of Endeavor in Season 6 trying to have him take a good look at what Dabi is and his intentions. This time he’s going all out. With enough fire to burn down the city, he’s figured out EVERY of Endeavor’s ultimate moves but they are hotter and sloppier. Literally punching Shoto through skyscrapers and trying to take away the one thing he truly believed Endeavor wanted.
    But Shoto shows off his cold flames to survive. Again I’ll state that Shoto IS now capable of using fire and ice from both sides using his heart as the valve. (So we AREN’T doing the avatar lightning rules of don’t let it cross your heart.) This is his way of keeping himself from burning like Touya and the flamin sidekickers can only do so much protecting Shoto as they DON’T have the temperature regulation.
    His class never left him behind. They by now I’m sure have been informed of Shoto’s circumstances by Shoto himself. As he figured himself out. Who he wanted to be. And Deku never ONCE stepped back as the person who truly managed to set this whole family on the path to heal. Deku’s lesson to him ALL THE WAY back in season 2 started the domino effect. Shoto decided to help Rei, which rallied Fuyumi. And on his path to learn and grow it inspired Endeavor to be better. Natsuo was dragged in by force for Endeavor but he stood by them all. And they all came together with the reveal of Touya being alive. One small statement snowballed EVERYTHING. And here he is ready to stand for his family, and for everyone that helped him stand on the way here.
    With 2 new moves he quells what Dabi did. Freezing the entire city solid and finally putting out Dabi’s hellish fire. And Dabi passes out. (How these two managed to keep BREATHING with all the fire is beyond me. There has to be NO oxygen left in the city)
    What an absolute FIRE episode. Can Touya be saved? Can this family finally heal once and for all from its past? And will Iida be any contribution to this at all? And what kind of fresh hell awaits in the other battles. This is a huge stepping stone but this isn’t over by a long shot.

  • @stsamurai_
    @stsamurai_ 6 днів тому +15

    Shoto’s Phosphor is such an amazing technique if you think about it. Endeavor thought he would be able to get stronger and produce more fire if he could lower his body’s temperature to prevent more burning, since Dabi achieved this specific level of power by casting off his body completely and disregarding any pain or damage he received. Shoto actually raises his body’s temperature just like Dabi - but instead forces equilibrium in his body to prevent any damage, and that in turn produces a state that can be both insanely hot AND cold at once, depending on the situation. Shoto really is what Endeavor tried to achieve (a child with a CRAZY OP Quirk), whether he cast off that dream or not.

    Man I’m not the type to comment on anime stuff but this episode really touched me. As someone who’s had a broken family throughout my childhood, it made me turned out negative towards others. Life hit me hard and lost a lot of people, then it eventually made me see the good things and changed my perspective and pulling myself out of the deep hole. There’s days I feel the trauma/negativity all swarming and wanting to take over but I know it’s not who I want to be anymore. Seeing shoto and dabi going at it is like seeing my young teenage version of myself fighting against my current version. I know I don’t want the trauma to take over, I just have to outgrow those moments and focus on building new moments with my family. A lot of ranting but shit, this episode hit like a nail

    My favorite part of the Todoroki Family Arc is, while Endevour is trying to be better and while some of the people he’s hurt appreciate that and may or may not forgive him. Toya is the representation of those failings, that while he can try to be better there will always be one castle of darkness that you created that you now have to fill with light. Your sins will not fade, you must face them to become better. Not only does Endeavor realize that but so does the rest of the Todoroki’s. Beautiful in my opinion

    I can’t imagine being in Touya’s place in those flashbacks. Like, he burned himself up, and the next thing he knew he was several years older and looked completely different and had a different voice. And then he went home, only to realize that his father had essentially just continued on. All of Touya’s fears had essentially come to life.
    It’s also honestly super sad that Shoto feels the need to carry all of the family’s hardships on his back when none of this should really be his responsibility. Unfortunately, Endeavor spent the last month or so completely neglecting Shoto and Touya, so he’s gonna have to fight All for One now instead, which sucks since Touya seems to really want to talk to him instead of Shoto, and I can’t say I blame him. Still though, I hope that Shoto can get through to Touya in some way. Touya may not want to admit it, bit they’re more alike than he thinks.

      When he got home, Toya saw his dad beating his brother even though HE THOUGHT TOYA DIED. Any normal parent would have gone 'wait a minute, maybe I shouldn't train my kids like that seeing how my eldest died because of my behaviour'
      So Toya didn't go 'oh it should have been me getting beat up there' he went 'oh shit, so my death meant nothing because my dad is still beating the sh't out of my brother even though he thinks I'm dead'
      He was a 13yo kid waking up in an older and damaged body after nearly dying, he went home to apologise, saw his dad moved on from his death and you expect him to be super selfless and think 'poor Shoto'? Wtf
