Thanks for this! I just installed the same unit on my 2023 701sm. II don't usually ride at night so this is really for keeping me more visible to drivers during the day. For that, I think it's pretty good. I'll keep my eye out for the condensation, though!
Great video! I just ordered this same one! I’ve thought about wiring to where the DRL is just on by itself, then when I hit the high beam switch the low beam comes on for night riding, do you think I just need to switch some wires around and that’s it ?
Hmmm. Not really an electrician so do this at your own risk :D. In theory you should connect the White with the White for DRL and Brown + Green to the Blue. This will have the result that you want. But I don't recommend doing that for a couple of reasons: 1. You may overload the high beam circuit as both the High Beam and Low Beam will draw current through the same cable. This may not be a problem if the cables can handle that but I don't know if they can. 2. You will not be able to ride on roads as you will always have both Low and High beam activated and when turning the High beam off you will have no light as you will only have the DRL active 3. In some countries the law may require you to always have the low beam active even if you have a DRL. If you really want to only run the DRL on daylight, maybe it's better to add an additional switch which will turn off the Low Beam. But this would mean you will need to add an additional switch and complicates things a bit.
There is no situation regarding this. Problems would be when changing to a higher watt consumption and not having enough power for that. As far as I know there are no sensors to monitor the power drawn by the headlights and give you a warning that the headlight is out. Lowering the wattage of the headlight allows me another 30w that I can use for different other consumers like charging the tablet/phone, heated grips, additional lights, etc. From what I know, the free wattage that you can use on the 701 is around 150-300W. Not sure if those numbers are exact, but if you add some additional lights, heated grips and charging a phone you may be left with 0 watts to be used and you may discharge your battery.
I just installed the same one. My DRL turns off when I flick on the high beam. What could cause this?? I have matched up all the wires when I repinned the plug
It's the same on mine. I think it has nothing to do with the headlight but with how the 701 wiring works. My guess is that on high beam it drops the voltage for the position light (which in this case is the DRL). You could test this out with a voltmeter and see if this is the case.
As far as lighting it's better than the stock one. The problem that I am having with it it's that the beam is really concentrated in the middle and it doesn't light everything around the light beam. Sometimes, in corners it bugs me because I don't see the surroundings as good as with the stock. I will try to add a small light bar that would light the area just in front of the bike. All in all It's worth the money.
Salutare ! Cum este dupa 6 luni ? Inca functioneaza ? Vreau sa imi comand si eu unul dar imi este teama sa nu raman pe la mama naibii noaptea fara lumina :D La cel stock schimbi rapid becul, la asta... nu prea ai variante. Multam !
Thanks a ton for this great tutorial. Especially your cable mapping table was extremely helpful!!
Glad it helped!
Thanks for this guide/review, love the video edit 💫
Merci beaucoup ! je l'ai fait sur mon 701 2023 sa marche très bien

Indeed, during daylight/night time you are way more visible with this headlight.
How has it been the last week? Any condensation issues?
@@MV-vv7sg Nope - so far so good!

What’s the situation with the 12v 50 watt halogen being replaced with the 12v lower watt LED? Is there any issue moving from a halogen to LED?

Seeing the LR tank on the Enduro always makes me wonder what it would look like on the SM.
Don't think it will look that good :D I don't like them on the Enduro version but I am more into functionality than looks.
@@MotoCerbii I did a photoshop and it’s terrible 😂😭. Agreed. Function over fashion.
Is it possible to install 2021 701sm?
From what I know, this will fit on all 701 models and years.
Good vidéo ! Still work fine today ?
Yes. It works without any problems and no condensation so far.
cheap but does the trick
It remains to be seen. I already seen just a bit of condensation in the headlight when riding today. Will need to see how bad it is.
@@MotoCerbii how is it now? 2 months on?

Are you satisfied with it? Is it stronger than original? From the video I can't tell it surely.
