A New LED Motorcycle Headlight Will Solve Your Night Riding Issues

  • LED headlights are leaps and bounds above your old halogen headlight on your motorcycle. The good news is it's very easy and inexpensive to add a modern led motorcycle headlight to your bike. If you ride a Harley-Davidson you are likely well aware of just of how bad the factory halogen headlight is riding at night. Modern LED headlights generate much less heat and have a much greater output which lights up the ditches and allows you see farther down the road. The best part is the headlights are universal, fit a wide range of motorcycles with a headlight bucket and you only need a screw driver to install one.
    Get your new led motorcycle headlight from TruckMall here today!

    Does anyone else remember when switching to halogen WAS the upgrade? For a while I drove a lot of cars made in the 1960s and back in the 80s a Halogen upgrade was the way to go. A lot has changed over the years.

    The headlight on my Harley Breakout wasn’t much better than a candle. One of my first mods was to swap out the headlight for the HD Daymaker . It’s absolutely insane how much better it is. All of my bikes are 100% LED now . The safety factor alone is well worth it . I love riding at night , especially now !

      You ain't kidding, the stock headlights are awful. A lot of people hate the LED lights since they are so bright when you meet one oncoming, biggest issue is they don't get adjusted properly.

    I still run the old halogen. I don't do much night riding anymore. Maybe an hour before sun up when all is quiet and cool time of the day. All these new headlights on cars and trucks pretty much blind my old peepers. And God forbid I meet a jacked up truck running a bar full of led's across their bumper and even on top of there truck. What can I say, I live in red neck country. I have considered going to a led on my Evo but I'm not in a hurry. Maybe when the halogen burns out. Loved the video!

    I have looked at four or five videos of guys installing these things. In every one of them, the headlight drops out to reveal a completely empty headlight bucket save for the three little wires running to the light plug. I drop mine out of my 2003 Sportster, to find enough wiring to connect Hoover Dam to Las Vegas, along with two big fat square plugs each the size of my thumbs along with the three little wires going to the headlight. No force on Earth could shove that fat new LED headlight in where the stock light was. It's like I live on another planet sometimes.

    I know these LED headlights put out a lot of light. They can also do a good job of blinding oncoming traffic.
    Every time I see someone installing one and complaining about how bad halogen headlights are I wish I could make them use an old sealed beam headlight.
    The old sealed beam lights when they got old would sometimes be only a little brighter than your marker lights and just about as yellow.

    • @GixxerFoo
      @GixxerFoo  3 роки тому

      The biggest issue with the new LED lights is that people don't adjust them properly after they install them. The old housing is going to be adjusted to the halogen lights output. Sticking an LED in there is going to light people up in the oncoming cars. A properly adjusted housing with an LED provides quite a bit of clarity at night without blinding people.

    I have a LED device that directly replaces the halogen bulb in the original light case. With it, the classic look is retained and nobody realizes it a LED light until the motorcycle is turned on. I think it is much, much better than the multibeam that you installed. I know because I had it installed in my Softail. Just as the multibeam is a night and day difference to the halogen bulb, the LED "bulb" is the same difference to the multibeam.

      @omarsalgado9715 3 роки тому

      @@GixxerFoo I forgot to mention that some adaptation needs to be done in order for the LED "bulb" not to bounce, so it becomes a kind of strobes. That is because the main case, the hollow one, has a rubber mount that dampens adequately the halogen bulb, but because the LED "bulb" has a stronger and more focused beam, the light case really needs to be fixed to the main case, via taking out the vibration isolation sandwich mini mounts and leaving no gaps between the light and main cases. It's really a pain in the * s * to get it done correctly, but once achieved, it illuminates like a sun glowing out of that headlight. Zodiac sells that LED "bulb" (I didn't purchased mine from them however). Cheers.

    My "stock" headlight has a bulb that works well--it came "standard" on the '05 Touring models--when my high beam is on, I can see a long way down the road, even when traveling rather quickly. I put HD fog/driving lamps on top of my engine guard, and ANY TIME I'm gonna roll out, those lamps are ON, before the bike goes into gear, even in the daytime--at night, it's like a "moving wall" of light! Many times at night, with just the low beam on, I've had vehicles flash their lights at me, thinking my high beam was on. Down the hill, into a recently planted corn field, with water sitting on its edge. Having ridden dirt bikes a bunch back in the day, I tried keeping the bike moving, turning her South--the mud screwed me, filling my tires' grooves. Down I went, bending a front fender & handlebars. All those LED headlight units are not all the same. If you go on Amazon or eBay you'll find them with various watt rating's. H4 headlight bulbs are typically 55/60 watts and if you have a modern bike it has a stator with rotating magnets to produce power to run your lights and keep the battery charged. That type of stator produces full power all the time so the regulator controls voltage and current by converting excess power into heat and dumping it overboard via the heat sink on the side of the regulator. If you burn out a headlight bulb this adds power the regulator must deal with and so you could eventually burn it up. If you use an LED headlight that uses less than 55 watts you could have regular problems. If you use an LED headlight that takes more that 60 watts to operate you could end up with a dead battery because the stator simply can't provide enough power to charge the battery, run the light's, and any accessories you've added like an audio amplifier. On Amazon and eBay the typical watts consumed by the majority of LED headlights is 80 watts or more. I've seen some rated as high as 120 watts. Just be careful about what you select and it's watt rating's to see if it is what your electrical system can handle.

      Very welcome, these are one of the best upgrades out there. I've been running a similar unit in my wife's bike for 5 years with zero issues.

      @@GixxerFoo Way cool. I love my 2014 and all the upgrades I’ve made to the engine and suspension. I’ve been racking my brain on what to do next. Now I know! Love your work. Great job man.
