    Tony, thanks for all your videos, they have helped me plan our trip to Spain. I was able to book all my train trips with the exception of Barcelona to Valencia. I can't seem to find any tickets on that route. I have tried going through trainline, Renfe directly and Eurorail and get no results. What is your recommendation? Bus?

    We are planning a trip to Spain October - travelling from Valencia to the South and your videos are really great. We have decided to use some train travel and I want to know how best to book the tickets as I am struggling with the Renfe App and all the negative comments on social media is making me nervous. I thought you might have a tip for me. Thanks so much and greetings from Switzerland.

      Thanks for your words, Sarah. Our tip is Trainline, we ‘ve used it for years now and we are so pleased with their service that they are now partners of ours. Our affiliate link, if you want to give it a go, is prf.hn/l/6b1N4Qa You won’t pay more if you book through the link but the company will pay us a small fee. Their site is hassle-free. All the best!

    • @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal

      Thanks, Erika, the sooner you buy the tickets, the better. RENFE operates very much like airlines, the cheapest fares are sold months in advance. We recently published a video explaining how to get hold of those tickets ➡️ ua-cam.com/video/MYqz41n5Qn4/v-deo.html All the best!

      Thank you, Miguel, we have no such videos. Currently there is just the one rail connection between the countries, running from Vigo to Oporto.

    thank you again although i would have preferred narration to the captions and annoying music. i'm still not clear about how much space is provided for large suitcases on the various trains or what i'm going to do if it's all taken up.

    • @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal
      @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal  Рік тому

      If you board the train early, at the departure station, you won't have any problems. More details here: ua-cam.com/video/sSiIRby2RGU/v-deo.html If there is no space, you'll need to leave your suitcase wherever you can.

      @@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugalthat is one of the many points i want to write about if i get around to it. for one thing, it requires the taxi showing up as scheduled. then passengers have no way of knowing what part of the platform their car will stop at or which end of the car the baggage storage will be in so i always ended up running at the last minute with 2 big pieces of luggage in an attempt to climb onto our car and store them before other people used the space. airlines have international size standards for luggage but the train shelf is set too low to allow for bags conforming to these dimensions to be stored vertically on the floor. i had had surgery on my shoulder earlier this year and hurt it again while trying to lift our big suitcases up onto the shelves and stack on top of other pieces.

    Hi Tony Galvez
    I benefit a lot from your videos.
    It contains extraordinarily useful information.
    My wife and I have planned a trip starting from Lisbon in October and ending in Faro, Seville, Cordoba, Granada, Malaga, Madrid and Barcelona.
    I'm planning to go from Lisbon to Faro by train and from Faro to Seville by bus.
    I wonder if my planning is correct or is there another option?
    Can you recommend a bus company from Faro to Seville?
    Thank you

    We went on a high speed train in Italy a few years ago and every time it went through a tunnel it made our ears hurt, it seems that their trains were going to be pressurized to stop this.
    It this a problem on the high speed trains in Spain.
    Thanks

    • @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal
      @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal  Рік тому +1

      Long tunnels have something on an effect on your ears, but in more than 200 trips on the Spanish high-speed train, never to the point of hurting.

      @@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal Thanks for the reply, the trains are probably part pressurised nowadays.
      We are going to Malaga and Madrid for a few weeks in February and March and have just seen that free local train journeys are going to be available for Locals and tourists in 2023, can't wait to travel around visiting places

    • @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal
      @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal  Рік тому

      @@phil5101 I don't know what you read, but there isn't really a scheme of free travel for tourists. It's a government initiative designed to help commuters. Tourists can also take advantage of it, but we can't really see how it can be of any benefit, unless you stay in Spain for three months. As well as the red tape involved, discounts are available for those taking a minimum of 16 trips (on any local train within a specific area, or on the same route in the case of middle distance trains).

    Hi, does Renfe trains go to Lisbon, Portugal?

    • @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal
      @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal  3 роки тому

      Hello there. Right now, there are no RENFE trains going to Lisbon. There used to be a night hotel train from Madrid to Lisbon that was cancelled by RENFE during the pandemic. It's not coming back.

      @@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal Thank you very for replying and for giving this valuable information. What are the other practical modes of transportation aside from taking the train and riding the airplane from Lisbon going to Madrid? Are there buses from Lisbon going to Madrid that non-EU but Schengen tourist visa holder are allowed to ride into? I hope you can share knowledge regarding other alternatives if the Renfe trains have already stopped this route...

    • @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal
      @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal  3 роки тому

      As an alternative, Flixbus operates a bus from Lisbon to Madrid. But for us it is a no brainer, 10 times out of 10 we would take the plane. The alternatives are just too exhausting to contemplate (we are talking from experience). Check out travelsafe.spain.info/es/ for travel restrictions into Spain.

    There is AVE TO HUESCW

    • @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal
      @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal  2 роки тому

      Renfe runs a few weekly AVE trains to Huesca, but the line from Zaragoza to Huesca is not a LAV (high-speed line), hence it would be stretching it too far to compare it to other services we mentioned on the video.
