Let me clear this up! There is nothing wrong with sitting on your phone during your rest times, especially if you need longer rest times (3-4 mins) it’s just the blatant disregard that I’ve seen with some people that aren’t there to train. Sitting on a busy machine “resting” for 10-15 minutes using the machine as a chair. It’s all about considering others in the situation🙏🏼 much love my bros!

I've taken 15 minute rest times before since I'm hypoglycemic and have to wait for my sugar levels to normalize after a big set and I'll ask people if they're cool with me coming back and rotating in-between sets after I'm feeling good again. Most people aren't douche bags where I work out so they understand and agree usually and when they don't they just say they'll come back after I'm done

There was this dude doing dumbbell presses on the only bench in the gym that adjusts to a sitting position. He'd do a set, then take pictures of him flexing for 5-10 minutes, then do another set. I mixed up my workout hoping he'd be gone by the time I needed the bench but he was still there, with his 10 lb weights flexing in the mirror so I just sat down and stared at him until he left

    My additions:
If you go to the gym to socialise make sure that the the other person is on the same page AND that you DO NOT occupy a machine while doing so.
Also just because I'm looking down at my phone it doesn't mean that I'm on facebook, I need 60-90secs for recovery between sets during which I keep notes of my progress which is essential for the kind of program that I follow yet I've seen people giving me "the look" assuming that I am just on social media wasting their time.
Last, headsets / airpods etc is a clear sign that this person is trying to focus and doesn't want any kind of interaction.

Just curious, what do you use for communication with ur friends now if not Facebook (messenger)? In my country, we had a very popular communicator app for PCs, and then facebookshit arrived, I finally was forced to get onto facebook because literally everyone did. This communicator I talked about died. And it's like this up to today. To be honest I would love to swap to something else but everyone is on fucking facebook. You can't even search messages by dates here. It's so bad imo.

The way I keep myself and my friends accountable for reracking weights properly is saying, "Your workout isn't over until you put back your weights." It's definitely a good accountability statement that keeps me from feeling like a douchebag.
Can we also petition to teach casual gym people to not stand directly in front of others during their working sets too? Iol.

I'm glad I had a trainer during a time I was young enough to learn things and incorporate them as a habit, and he taught me the importance of putting the weights back in the right place. I was dissapointed to see my latest trainer not really caring about it, but he was going through something at the time so I guess his mind wondered in different places.
