i normally fish on the platform on Chevron island by the Bundall road bridge i have never tried it in the dark because i was worried about the mozzies , but you guys seemed ok so i may well give it a go

Try peeling the prawn and removing the head. And another change you can make is to leave the shell but remove the head, and the tail, slide the hook through 2/3's of the way in and then out and then turn the prawn around on the shank and put the point up into the back. That technique is excellent for the beach.
