I dearly love these videos. I try to pass this knowledge on to anybody that will listen and wants to learn. Our bow season starts here in a couple of weeks, and we are allowed to camp anywhere on the forest land during bow season only. The rest of the time you have to stay in designated camp grounds. I plan to take my equipment and the knowledge I have gained from you and others to the woods for a few days and just walk, hunt and camp where ever I am at the end of the day. I am really looking forward to this.. Thanks.
Loved the video - I used it to begin building my first bugout bag several years ago. One comment that I would add is to not wait until you have bought the perfect knife or blanket.. to get started building your bugout bag. Start now with what you have in your house and then add too it or upgrade what you have already in it on a regular basis. This allows you to have something right away which increases your chances of surviving over when you had nothing and then it continues to increase your survivability as you add or upgrade items. Start with the 5 Cs and then add additional things such as some water, food, first aid kit, etc.

Dave. I am thinking it would be cool if you did vids on how the eastern Indians lived. They lived long term permanently in the wilderness. Though they had groups and large groups and societies trade etc but the skills are cool.

Thank you so much for this video! I'm starting to get into survival and building myself a bug out/backpacking bag and I heard about the 5c's but never really did too much with it, so now I'm really understanding it all!
1. Communications/Recovery (including a PLB, heliograph, headlamp w/ strobe and whistle) 2. Navigation (map, compass and GPS + the ability to navigate using sun and stars) 3. First aid (including the ability to manage major bleeding, maintain a clear airway and treat snake bite) 4. Shelter (both the clothes you wear and what you carry for worst case not best case environmental conditions) 5. Fire (including purpose designed tinder/candling if in cold/wet or very humid conditions) 6. Water (the ability to carry and sterilize a suitable quantity of water for the conditions using a variety of means and methods 7. Food (a suitable amount of food to enable you maintain a good level of health for the expected period of time recovery will take - usually

If I may offer a suggestion on the bow drill... when using the divice... carve a notch around the spindle that incompasses the diameter of the spindle. This takes only a couple minutes to perform and will aid in keeping the cordage in the same location and prevent it from drifting up or down as you saw back and forth.. Maximizing your effort while sawing. Great vid.. Seems the 18th Century mentality is more to your liking. Hang tough and watch your 6!
This was great, I have been researching "zombie survival guid" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Ryanzon Survival Genie - (just google it ) ? Ive heard some amazing things about it and my mate got great success with it.

If yoru sawing technique is smooth and parallel to the ground the string won't move up and down along the drill so no need to carve anything extra...
