Okay so at this point I've mostly started coming here for the music and I don't think I'm alone. You gotta start pulling us into your engineering and production process because if you're telling me that you tuned up these vocals to sound this natural then I'm fully in awe
Thank you so much Nkosi! I’ll do a few production walk through videos on certain tracks that allow for some discussion. The vocals are very lightly tuned, I try and get it to 90%-95% of the way there. If I feel that I can’t reach the notes, then I gotta change the key of the tune. :)
Agreed! :) I have done a review of the the Flea 49 and a separate review of the U67. Hopefully they might help. Though the M149 is far cleaner option than either of those. :)
@@alecbritsI’m currently considering one of those 3 microphones for male vox… which one would you recommend for powerful gritty lower register vocals? Thanks! Keep up the great work!
Incredible sounding mic, this is gonna be my next purchase 100%, lovely sound on vocals, but the drums with only one for overhead sound AMAZING wow. Great review Alec ✨✨✨
ELX BRIT YOUR ARE THE MAN!!!! YOU SERIOUSLY ARE MY GO TO GUY. ALWAYS testing MELODIC equipment. I got the API 512V because of you and they are amazing. this might be my future buy. 1960 SOUNDS ALWAYS!
Excellent video....now you've made me want a U67 more than ever. It really is the type of mic you can record everything with and still get an amazing final result.
Mate this is fantastic. Thanks. I decided to take the plunge. Should get my 67 by end of next week. Looking forward to it. Especially after this review.
@@alecbrits Yeah I forgot to mention I bought mine from Studiocare. Big thumbs up for those guys. Great bunch of lads and first class service. Of course the microphone is incredible that goes without saying :).
It’s pretty hard to review the speakers. I would love to show you guys how they sound, but it never feels right. We have tried a binaural head, but that sounds SO gross. I can do just a talking review on them if that helps?
@@alecbrits And I agree with you about the visual aesthetics of the Warm mic. It looks very cheap. I would not purchase one for that reason alone. There are other good options that also sound good.
Hey Drake! I’m not too sure how they would compare, it’s been around 10 years since I have tried the TLM49, so I’d need to get one back in and give it a go and see!
Would you say the u67 shined more on vocals or electric guitar? I have one on the way after being underwhelmed by my u87 on vox. Thanks and keep up the great work!
@@alecbrits Okay, I don't know how i feel about the mic you proposed, i want to build a music studio in the future and have been learning more about mics, my favourite now is the chandler limited REDD, it is a collaboration with Abbey Road Studios, what about that mic, i'd love to see you review it and use it. :)
I finally got an U-67! But not because of this video but because of your Neve 1073 LB VS Neve 88R LB video where you used the U-67 for all tracks which sounded awesome. I guess / hope - and also heard of - that this Mic could be used as the only Mic for simply everything if you want to pick just one but very good microphone. The only other microphones I own are a vintage Audiotechnica AT-4033a (which is fantastic), a Shure Beta-58 and a Shure SM-57. So this one should be a step upwards in the "esotheric" game ;-)
I’m a big fan! The cable does transmit a little noise when moving around due to the fact that it’s an armoured cable, and the head band is not as comfy as the Beyerdynamic DT770’s. Sonically they absolutely smoke anything else I have. I’m never surprised when I listen on monitors after tracking. They have made mixing the work I track on headphones A LOT faster and more creative. :)
I have a pair of U67’s. The TLM107 was a review unit, but I still want a pair of them for more delicate sources. The noise floor on the TLM is incredible.
Very good question! I always use my 1176 on vocals, 33609 also is a pretty big winner in my book. Im now looking for something really transparent and fast. :)
I don’t think so, I find it a little harsher in the upper mids, without the thickness and forgiving nature of the 67. But that’s just my opinion. :) I own both, but rarely go for the 87 these days.
I think they are very different sounding mics, the FET 47 is a little more focussed sounding than the 67, but I think that’s more to do with the hypercardiod nature of the mic.
Thank you so much Felipe! I have tried it in the past, but it was 5 years ago. I remember really enjoying it on vocals, acoustic guitar and saxophone. But I would need to get a pair in the studio now to see how they feel in my current workflow.

Thanks!! :) sure thing, will try and sort that later in the year.

Fantastic review, Alec👍 Have you given any thought to reviewing the new Lewitt 1044 mic system?

What‘s your personal fav. mic for vocals?
A vocal that sits infront of the Mix out of the box?
Currently the U67 or the M49 are front runners for me. There is a review coming soon that might change that for me though!

I’d love to see the Sony c800g for a review. It may not be the vintage style that you review mostly but i think it’s a great mic.
