Halloween 4 has the best opening imo. It captures Halloween with all the still shots etc. Its simple, yet effective
I'm late but it also has the best ending too imo. First time I saw it I got CHILLS. And Donald Pleasant's "No! No! No!" made it feel even deeper
Edit: no diddy
I always liked this one. A worthy come back.
you did what? on whos back?
@@captainbellybutton3567 he did what Brady never got to do to the cops daughter.
Agreed. I know it's not "great" but I really enjoyed it as a kid and still think it does a pretty good job at picking things back up after SotW.
Had they had the O.G mask, it would have been so much better
The best mask is the original, the 2018 one and the burned mask. The others look somewhat alien.
when they filmed the roof scene and slid down it....the actress playing Rachel was injuryed a nail was sticking up and sliced open her leg..as she slid down the roof..........also the ending to part 4 with Jamie in her halloween costume holding a bloody scissor....was Great Fans at the time loved it.
Halloween 4 is a darn good sequel! I think its biggest strength is its characters.
Other then this first one, this is my favorite Halloween movie. As a matter of fact, this is my favorite Halloween movie. The original just gets the spot for it’s cultural influence and effect on the genre.
How did Micheal Meyers return?
Jeff Goldblum - "Life, ahh, finds a way."
Part 4 is my favorite.
Halloween 4 is my favorite sequel that doesn't have Jamie Lee Curtis. I really wish they would have ended the series after that epic chase/shootout sequence. That would have spared us from having Halloween 5 and 6 in the canon.
Fun fact, the reason why the scenes in the school were kind of choppy was because they had to be re-shot at the last minute because the original takes were damaged. They weren't able to do all of the re-shoots on budget, so they had to make more cuts. Also, originally they had a sequence planned where Jamie was chased through the school cafeteria and hiding under the tables with Michael flipping them over trying to get to her. This couldn't be shot because of the budget/time issues. When Halloween H20 was made in 1998, it included a recreation of this sequence with Laurie Strode.
You didn't mention Michael's "white hair" in the schoolhouse scene.....
Love Halloween 4
I wonder why Jamie Lee Curtis did not come back for this movie?
Anyway this might be left field but I hope you guys consider watching Are You Afraid Of The Dark TV episodes from the 90s (there are 91 episodes in total). It was my favourite childhood show and some of the episodes still hold up when it comes to the spooky atmosphere (but some of the other episodes just seem campy in this day and age).
Otherwise the Goosebumps or Tales From The Crypt TV Series might also be good options.
Jamie Lee didn't want to be typecast as a horror actress so she was done with Halloween after part 2. If she kept going as just a horror actress she wouldn't have been in movies like Trading Places, Fish Called Wanda and then obviously those yogurt commercials. She was just protecting her future in Hollywood based on the knowledge she had from her parents. Whereas Danielle Harris didn't, so she's now typecast.
Danielle Harris freakin' rocks!
She is freaking gorgeous now as a grown woman.
Hell yeah she is! Loved her in RZ's Halloween's and the Hatchet films!
@@chadmcfarland9660 Yeah she's a hottie for sure. Lovely to meet in person too.
She's terrible entitled wooded actress
Halloween 1, 2 and 4 are the perfect trilogy.
Ehhhhh heavily disagree but glad u enjoyed the movies lol
1, 2 and h20 are better
there is no trilogy, part 2 and 3 are all that matters, everything else is mediocre at best

This is my favorite sequel. Insanely creepy and scary. The atmosphere and mood is amazing. Rachel is my favorite final girl. Danielle Harris is sensational. The chase sequences and fight scenes are fireeeee.
The music is menacing.
This movie deserves more love.
The girl who played Michael's niece was quite a good young actress and helped with the creepier vibe of Michael hunting her down. I remember she also played Bruce Willis' daughter in the buddy cop movie 'The Last Boyscout'. But I haven't seen her in anything else much more recent than late 80s/early 90s, so maybe she quit acting.
@@reactions5783 she's in the horror genre today very heavily mostly some lower budget ones but she's a modern scream Queen and deserves more credit
I wish it was creepy but that derpy fucking mask is just such a crappy distraction. That and Michael's hilarious shoulder pads make for something that should be a lot scarier than it is.
@@xavvi that's little flaws though
@@jdogjohnson9038 I dunno, those are pretty fucking huge flaws when the point is to be scared of this guy that looks like a joke

Lmao I always loved how he stabbed her with a fucking shotgun.
I was always impressed with Danielle Harris, she did a great job in this movie. Too bad her career didn’t go far. She was good in Rob Zombies Halloween too, the little she was in it. Peace Mr. & Mrs.!
She was also in the second and third Hatchet movies. They're pretty cheesy and kind of over the top, but the kill scenes are crazy!
I checked IMDB & she's still a working actress/director. She's making a living doing what she likes; she's doing great.
@@Ninnative heard of those movies, have to check them out. Can’t go wrong with some good kills!
@@Brooklyn_Bleek cool, glad she made a living out of it!
I agree. Sometimes child actors in horrors can be annoying, but i thought she was fantastic.
It's weird Michael never seems to actually wanna kill Loomis.
Just like joker never wants to actually kill Batman.
It’s almost like he has a soft spot for the only man who tried to show him some type of love early on.
This is a sequel that, while nowhere near as good as the original, demonstrated actual effort. You can tell there was thought behind it. Can't really say that about the rest of them . . . Also, I *really* want a standalone about Crazy Reverend Jackson P. Sayer. That guy is *ripe* for a story of his own.
The beautiful beautiful river!!
i been huntin that standalone myself for years. came close a few times, too damn close.
H5's issues were born of a guy trying too hard, so you can't say there was no actual effort there. H6 is hated for creative decisions not quality and actually has a sizable following, it had a cast and crew who really put their all into it and probably the most passionate writer in the whole series - definitely had a shed load of actual effort into it. H20 was yes a cash grab after Scream and yes a heavily watered down film for the mainstream audiences but it still had clear effort going into it albeit less than had been previously the norm. Both the RZ films were technically very well made and are again hated for creative reasons nothing more, and again the second one has a sizable following - they both have very obvious creative drives and purposes behind them it just happens that the current fandom and much of the H20 era fandom dislike them. H18 and Kills both have an obvious amount of effort and care put into them, again they are both a bit hard on the aiming at mainstream/casual audiences but they also go hard on the fanservice, again both have a shed load of effort put into them.
So I'm not really getting where this narrative that the sequels were lazy cash grabs with little to no effort behind them comes from? Care to explain?
I think it's actually better than the original
@@dommoore6180 i love 6 and both RZ movies! and youre right, the director of 5 was a complete idiot. when he explains his "creative choices" i wish Michael would kill me.
I love this series so much, and this is one of the best ones. I was 10 years old in 1988 and my Mother took me to see this film on Halloween night after trick or treating. She took me to see part 5 on Halloween night the very next year!
What's so great about this film is the Gothic feel to it, and that Haddonfield really feels like a real Midwestern town. The blue fog and darkness in the scenes create a great atmosphere.
The mask is definitely not the best. There were 3 masks made for the original film. One was burned for a closeup shot of Michael burning at the end of Halloween II, one was kept by Dick Warlock (Michael from part II), and the other is just missing. They wouldn't have been able to use them anyway because there was a lawsuit over the likeness involving Don Post studios. They did the best they could.
This one is vastly superior to part 5, and it is definitely better than both versions of part 6.
I can't wait to see your reactions to the next two! Great video.

Unpopular Opinion, but this is probably my second favorite Halloween Movie
Not unpopular with me I love it.
I do love 4 & 5. They were my favorites, until H20, and when I rewatched Curse of Michael Myers. 6 & 7 are just so great to me. Especially since 6 handles where 5 left off.

I gotta say, one of the stupidest conversations in any movie I've ever seen.
As many times I watched this movie that part always got on my nerves
Even Ellie Cornell thought that line was stupid in the DVD commentary.
@@MightMouse2174 Shit makes me laugh, it's so ridiculous lol
This is my personal favorite of the sequels, and it was my "white noise" movie that I'd put on when I went to sleep every night for several years. The foggy atmosphere and the ambient sounds of the score set the perfect creepy tone for a horror movie set on Halloween night.
I listen to horror at night for falling asleep to.
This was my entry to the Halloween world so I was unaware of how well Loomis brushed off that intense explosion in II. Stop, drop & roll my friends!

The only real negative for me is Michael’s mask is pretty bad

My personal favorite of the franchise! Love Jamie and Rachel as characters and Danielle Harris and Ellie Cornell give excellent performances.
Halloween has soooo many continuities.

#3 - 1,2,H20,Resurrection
#4 - Remake and its sequel
#5 - 1,2018 film,Halloween Kills
Nope, ITS Halloween 1,2,4,5,6, H20

HALLOWEEN 1,2,4,5,6,RESSURECTION SANS OPENING,H20 !!!!!!!
This was the first horror film I watched. I was around Jamie’s age, and it was on tv and reduced me to tears! To this day, I love this film and it’s one of the creepiest installments!
The first halloween movie i saw on tv was halloween 5
Season of the Witch is SUPER UNDERRATED. Honestly one of my favourite movies of the franchise.
I admire the change in creative direction so damn much!!.
Top 4 easily in the franchise for me.
Definitely my fave in the series. After constantly asking the Mrs., "what do you think will happen in part 3?" in the last video, I'm a bit disappointed they skipped 3 altogether. I've been dying to see her reaction to how far off her guesses would be.
Black sheep of the franchise. I also think it is a very bad film.
It is underrated. I love all of the Halloween movies but something about 3 just makes it a good movie to watch, even if not the best film.
@@Mr1991kid
Is Halloween III really underrated anymore, though? All I ever seem to hear about it anymore is how “underrated” it is. I get that it was poorly received at the time it came out, but it’s praise has far outlived it’s criticisms.
@@scottstark5528 It’s not though. As a stand alone movie it’s amazing...
Should it be a part of the franchise associated with Michael?. No.
Is it a fantastic stand alone anthology movie?.
Yes. Absolutely.
Michael was supposed to be dead after Halloween II. Like...dead, dead. That’s why they completely changed the rhetoric to what was supposed to be an anthology series after. But fans wanted Michael back...
Why?. Because money. Even though everything after that sucked ass until H20...
You’re observations about Michael and Jason are very astute. While the first Friday the 13th movie was a blatant rip-off of Halloween, I think that this movie is very inspired by all the Friday the 13th sequels. The last time we saw Michael Myers before this movie was 1981. There hadn’t even been a Friday movie with Jason in the mask yet at that point. The Michael character sat dormant for most of the 80s while Jason just kept pumping out the sequels with gorier and more creative kills. The return of Michael here in 1988 was the same year as Friday the 13th Part 7. A lot of the kills in this movie feel very much like Jason kills in their brutality and execution. I think you can really feel it.
It is a bit like Saints Row and GTA in that sense. Although Friday the 13th went in a crazier fashion, Halloween kept to its roots except part 3 which had very little to do with anything despite being creepy. Part 6 did use the curse to show the supernatural side of Myers. The director of Halloween Kills claims Myers is mortal and not supernatural, which is nonsense as he surived being blown up and burned in the very film he directed. Michael also teleports like Jason Voorhees although Myers was doing that back in the first film.
As for "Friday the 13th" being a supposed "blatant" rip-off of Halloween, is that not the truth regarding every genre concerning the movie industry? I am a fan of both Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees.
"Every artist is a cannibal, every poet is a thief..." correct?
Have a great October 31st 2022, my friend.
I was born on a Friday the 13th; it was Good Friday as well. 🙂
@@bodies2magenta I love the Friday movies. It’s not a negative to me. But Cunningham has said multiple times that his original idea for the movie was just to rip of Halloween. Doesn’t mean he didn’t then make that movie a great slasher as well.
In 2022 Halloween surpassed Friday the 13th in number of movies. Halloween leads 13 to 12. However if you remove Halloween III (which Myers doesn’t appear), Friday the 13th Part I (which which Jason only appears in a dream), and Friday the 13th Part 5 (which Jason only appears in a dream) Michael Myers leads Jason 12 movies to 10 movies.
It's amazing to me the way Mrs. Movies casually predicts the future installments 🤣
Such a great movie , Little Mrs Harris is amazing
I love how she low-key predicts a plot point for Halloween (2018) minutes in 🤣

So many people skip Season of the Witch when watching these movies, without ever even planning on going back to it. That’s just criminal.
I finally broke down and watched it and if you don't think of it as being in the Halloween franchise it's not a bad movie
some people just cant accept its a standalone film. after 40 years they need to get over it.
@@MightMouse2174 Halloween was supposed to be an anthology series but a lot of people were pissed that 3 had nothing to do with the story of Michael Myers. After that, they just turned into the Michael Myers franchise.
I can accept that it is a standalone movie, and wouldnt even bother if they did a different storie every moviem but for me it is a shitty story, with shitty acting and shitty pacing, so the problem for me its not that Michael Myers isnt in it.
We aren’t skipping it. We will come back around to it sometime in the future.
The reason for the power lines was to show why Loomis couldn’t call and had to hitch hike

Part of me wishes Dr. Loomis and Reverend Sayer should have gotten their own spin-off series where they team up and hunt down baddies.
Supernatural, the later years. ;)
"This doctor did it on purpose"... well, that would be interesting...
There was supposed to be a scene in the opening showing the wall being blown out in the H2 end scene explosion and Dr. Loomis being thrown out and that's how he survived.
I prefer H4, H5, H6 & H20 over H1 & H2 but love them all... 4, 5, 6 & H20 are just the best to me personally. In fact, in many ways I prefer H5 to H4 so I can't wait for your reaction to it.

And no one gonna point out how Jamie was hugging a 12 pack of retro mountain dew in the closet, after her nightmare scene. And we don't get to see any boobs in the film. Fyi
A little fun fact: Because of an up coming writer's strike in 1988, the writer of Halloween 4 had only 11 days to write the Story, send the script and get it greenlighted before the strike was to begin.
I feel when Michael killed Brady with the shotgun he was like “Sooooo I stab you with this, right?”

There's always been a big debate on whether it was a William shatner Star Trek mask or a William shatner devil's rain mask because if you look at William shatner in the devil's rain
in the scene when they basically take his eyes away it looks exactly like Michael Myers even with the head turning slightly to the left and right so it's always back and forth some sources say it's devil's rain some sources say it's Star Trek but it's definitely a William shatner mask either way
Love how the late Donald Pleasance conveyed sheer terror and horror when he saw Jaimie at the top of the stairs. Easily one of the best endings in a Halloween film.
What gets me every time is [though they didn't show the footage here] how fast Loomis is willing to slap iron on a nine-year-old girl. 🤣🤣🤣

10:16 ...but in the new movie, in a totally different continuity as of the end of the original movie, Kyle Richards plays Lindsey Wallace again, for the first time since the original movie, I am pretty sure.
And she’s low key one of the best parts of the movie

My favorite ending that went nowhere
15:08 It's so their barking doesn't alert their owners that he's there.
If you noticed, that wasn’t Michael who threw Loomis out of the school window. It was actually the ghost of Ben Trammer seeking his exact revenge on Loomis
Number 3 IS part of the continuity! It is the explanation of Micheal's connection to ancient evil!
So why is Halloween playing on TV? it's not canon H3 is stand alone.
The little girl is played by Danielle Harris from Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead (1991), The Last Boy Scout (1991) with Bruce Willis, Disney's "Wish Upon A Star" (1996) with Katherine Heigl, "Halloween" remake (2007), Halloween 5 (1989), Marked For Death (1990) with Steven Seagal, Free Willy (1993), Daylight (1996) with Sylvester Stallone, Urban Legend (1998), Halloween II remake (2009), Rugrats Go Wild (2003) as the voice of Debbie Thornberry, and plenty of tv series and B movies. Oops, nerded out.
This might be my favorite Halloween sequel next to H2O. However as much as I like it, I think John Carpenter's original pitch would have been more interesting. He wanted Michael Myers to become more of a ghostly apparition that gets his power from fear (perhaps inspired by Freddy Kruger?). Tommy Doyle and Lindsey Wallace would have been the main characters dealing with some PTSD from the first film. But the studio wanted a more traditional slasher.
H20 is garbage
