Hi paul 👋🏻, thank you very very much for your amazing videos, I've watched them all, found them really beneficial and instructional 👍🏻. I'm new to ultrasonic testing, I got Level I and started working with my boss few months ago. I have two questions, one about defect sizing in welds, how do I determine the beginning of a defect along the weld line using DAC sub curves in manual UT? We've got sonatest Veo+ device like yours, and I performed an encoded inspection on a single V butt weld, then took the data file to UTstudio to analysis. so my second question is what is the preferred method to determine the length of a defect for example? I tried to use the annotation box and resized it so that it contains the defect area, and I've got length in the annotation columns down the viewport, so do you think this is reliable method? Or is it not accurate enough? I'd like to know your approach regarding this topic. Thanks in advance🙏🏻 , hope you're having a great day 😁👍🏻
I would recommend the max amp technique for performing flaw length sizing in welds. I could describe it here but it's super easy to just google it. I think Andy Cunningham has a pretty good description out there on ndt.net. Good luck!
@@hollowayndtengineeringinc.5201 Thank you very much for replying😁, I really can't thank you enough🙏🏻, I've checked the websites you mentioned and read some of the discussions over there, very helpful indeed, you opened a door for me to learn more and more about ultrasonic, I feel really overwhelmed 🤯 there's a whole lot to learn. I see you already have many suggestions from others on your video list, but I hope to see a video of you analyzing a defect in UTstudio specifically in the future 😊. Thanks a lot for your time!
Great video again, thank you, Jim
I liked the unboxing part skit, you're a father before an NDT professional. Glad to see your kid is showing interest in your career.
EPIC!! I love this intro!!
Epic way start a video and geek out on NDT a bit. Love it!
Great video Paul. You have a good sense of humor.
thank you. love your content.
Really nice and cool
Great videos!
You are a genius,I learnt a lot in 5 minutes..thank you sir
Used dual 70 degrees for scanning FAST method on pipelines thru SGS/ PFInde
Thanks Paul, great video. How about a video on mode converted signals in shear wave testing?
Regards,
Brodie
I'll add it to the list. Thanks Brodie!
What is the physics behind mode conversion of reflected wave? If Velocity and Density stay same, what causes the splitting of wave?
If a long wave bounces off a surface at an angle, you get mode conversion
The learning curve of BEAM TOOL is very steep

I had no idea Chris Cornell was an NDT tech
I usually get Weird Al Yankovic, but I gladly accept Chris Cornell instead! :)
Are you running windows or do you have a beam tool software compatible with IOS ?
Windows on BootCamp
Hi when u check 2mhz 70 deg probe while weld scanning side lobes we can see in display, if you r willing to explain that your channel, pls try this
Is the probe a 1/4" or 3/8" diameter? Then those weird signals may be Rayleigh waves. That one is on my list
@@hollowayndtengineeringinc.5201 Its a 🔟 mm dia angle probe, wk made
I hope its a grating lobe
